Is there a timer on Bouyant Motif drops?

Just wondering. It seems like sometimes I can get one within my first few chests and none the rest of the day. Then I can come back a couple days later and the same thing happens again. Is it just weird rng or is there a timer?

Also has anyone ever actually seen a Gold Bouyant Armiget book? Not a crown one I mean an actual in game gold one.

According to ZOS, its just a really, really low drop rate. They say they improved it, but that probably just means it used to be really, really, really low.

I know it’s low it just seems weird it happens like that because it’s happened quite a few times. If I come back after a day or two of getting one I can get one in my first couple chests and then none for a really long time.

I got two within 1 hour of each other before during the clockwork city update. But then I spent 3 days after that with nothing looted.

I know the base ones #1 - #14 do for sure. and always assumed any others would too.

I've never had two drop close to each other even if I've farmed for long periods.

Only time I expect no cooldown is when they are a reward in an event loot box.

If there is then the timer is broken, i have a buddy who farms constantly for them andif he gets one at the beginning of his route he will just carry on. Several times he has had two within a couple of chests of each other. Its inly happened to me once though. He also found 5 BA motifs in less than 4 hours (3 of them were swords..lol) just a couple of days ago. Myself i take a break as soon as i hit one these days but my buddy just carries on until he finishes his route then breaks off for 20 minutes or so.

EDIT: he does not take a 20 minute break (he actually swaps characters after finishing his route), his route takes 20 minutes or so. He has 3 characters of which the 2nd and 3rd have not completed Vvardenfell main quest line, nor librarian yet he notices no difference at all in drop frequency.

It only drops once during the Bloodmoon, on the 5th of Hearthfire, after bathing in scrib jelly for 5 days.

I have opened, in excess, of 500 chests in Morrowind. I dedicated hours upon hours looking for those pages. In total, I gave it two weeks (2 - 4 hours solidly, a day) and I have never seen one drop. So, I stopped.

The tragic (but brilliant) thing that came out of it? Crafting, which used to be my go-to hobby in ESO, suddenly meant -nothing- to me anymore. It was made to feel unobtainable and locked away behind a completely unrealistic barrier of time and unfathomable grinding.

I wasn’t complaining about the drop rate, it’s actually fairly decent for me. I was just wondering if there was like the house motifs only because of the weird drop rate I get with them.

Hmm that’s an interesting theory. I may have to try that one. Especially if he gets drops that consistently without the savior of morrowind.

The drop rates on motif pages can be extremely low, painfully low in some cases and the number of hours spent farming to obtain them all is just no fun at all. Back when orsinium was released and I spent 8 hours farming ancient orc motif's for 2 pages I came to the conclusion my time could be better spent. I now simply spend time farming materials and selling them, 30 minutes an hour several times a week, making gold. When a new DLC lands I usually wait a week or 2 then go out and buy the new motifs, I personally do very little farming for them anymore.
The plus side is I make far more gold than I spend on the new mofif's when they come out, if you shop around over several days you can pick up most of the pages at a reasonable price, I have an upper limit of 50k for a page but tend to find most of them for far less than that. I might spend a couple of million gold and while that sounds like a lot if you spend the time between dlc's doing a little farming its just a fraction of what I make.

Though the armiger drop rate was borked at the start and is still very low thus the stupid price they still go for.

@The702Guy yes after you get 1 drop its a 30 minutes global cooldown on motifs from dropped one...so if u get w/e motif book/page for whatever reason the CD starts and yes this also applies to pickpocketing motifs and other things like this.

There is a timer I am sure of, only ever gotten 1 motif and that was several months a go from a simple chest lol and I loot treasure chests nearly everyday

No, this is not true. You'll see this rumor kicking around, but I've seen people get multiple motifs back to back. In fact, I've gotten multiple motifs back to back. There is no CD.

Easiest way to see that one doesn't exist is to clog a character's inventory with reward caches, and crack them all at once. The game rolls the contents of it when you open it for the first time, so if there was a CD, it would start then. It does not because there isn't one.

Also, you can tell that those caches generate their loot table when you open them, as opposed to when you receive them, because they will level up with your character. So if you get one at 39, and hold it until you hit 50, the contents will be 160 when you open it (assuming you're at least CR160, anyway.)

I know there isn’t on caches but there is one on the house motifs that you pick pocket. I’ve looked it up and tested it myself. I didn’t know if it was the same for BA because it’s to low of a drop rate to really test

I've opened thousands upon thousands of chests... I run a route that takes me around the entire vvardenfell map.
I hit 30-50 chests every cycle. (depending on which ones haven't been picked)
I run that route dozens of times every week.

i've found 10 pages TOTAL. 1 duplicate of axes page. 2 of my pages came from treasure maps.
So i've seen 9/13 pages after literally thousands of chests being opened. (only 7 from opening locked chests)

- NEVER found one in a master chest (i find 1-3 master chests every route cycle)
- NEVER found one in an advanced chest
- NEVER found more than 1 page in a day

My motivation is dying for this activity. If my sample size isn't large enough to give zos an understanding of how terrible the drop rate is... no one's is.

I've noticed a very similar thing in 2 of the areas I steal in for motif pages.

I've been coming to these places for at least a year now and sell probably 10ish motif pages per week, so it's not like I'm just basing my observation on an instance or two. If you find a page, you WILL NOT find another one for at least 15 minutes in these areas. If I find one now, I just pack it up and go do something else for a bit while it cools down.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were using a timer mechanic to control the flow of dropped motifs, and adjusting it depending on the rarity they want.

The BA Motif is really kind of ugly. Not getting it is doing you a favor. You should not stop crafting because of one motif. You kind of end up looking like Lisa Simpson

You need to provide a source to back that up. Personally i have found Great House style motifs on consecutive kills, rarely but it has happened and in no way did i take a 30 minute break inbetween. Only the other day a guildie got 14 in 4 hours of pick pocketing without a character switch so that alone debunks that theory.

Bouyant Armiger is hard to call because of its scarcity compared to great house motifs, but again I have found two motifs way inside of 30 minutes of each other on one occasion, infact with a couple of chests of each other, same happened to another friend the other day. RNG either works with you or against you

there is no cool down timer --- i opened 5 chests the other day and got two bouyant pages within like 5 minutes of each other.

there is no cool down timer --- i opened 5 chests the other day and got two bouyant pages within like 5 minutes of each other.

I found 12 in 14 chests yeah no timer, all within seconds of each other
