Anyone ever use two piece Molag Kena

just curious...i don't think i've ever read anyone trying the 2 piece kena combination on their character...

i have a hybridish type templar, SnB on front, lightening staff on back...wears all heavy...about 48k health, 27k stam, and 19k mag...

wears 2 pc kena, 5pc plague doctor, 5pc (on SnB bar) shacklebreaker...

stam or mag pot then couple of light attacks to proc the kena and i can actually build up a bit of damage - 2k plus spell and 3k plus weapon...

the sustain nerf patch from morrowind definitely makes it challenging - just wondering if anyone else plays with the kena set, and, how they might use it...

I've ran 2 piece kena on several builds, magicka and more recently my stamplar. People don't like it because of the increased cost mainly. It's not meant to be up all the time like say slimecraw is, it's supposed to be on demand burst, like clever alchemist is. The way I use it is to proc it with two ranged light attacks, gap close in and do my usual rotation.

it's not hard to sustain using so long as you aren't trying to always have it active. It's good for starting fights and getting the drop on people.

Yes, esp when it was BiS.

I've ran it on a warden semi successfully, WW have reported success too.

Haven't used it in a while, not viable no CP imo

and some old builds used to combo the 1pc with 1pc bloodspawn, but that was before the newer 2pc sets we received.

thanks @Akinos ...that helped a lot...i'll start just thinking of it as a burst tool to either start off with or try to finish off with...

Well I've tested it, but that's pretty much as far as my knowledge goes - never really found a use for it in any build.

For ganking, having to land 2 light attacks before it goes active ruins it, and any other build... well, you don't want to increase your ability costs by 20% (to put things into perspective: that's worth over two Seducer 5p bonuses).

Fun fact; these days with Zaans etc around, I think the set would be almost balanced in PvP even if it didn't have the cost increase.

That said, it's still BiS as 1p for many gank builds.

I have used it on a stamsorc with 5 marksman and 5 hulking or bone pirate. Dual wield or sword and board.. The cost reduction from marksman paired with the sorc cost reduction passives make kena very manageable when used in burst windows.

I thought I might replace it with Zaan, but 2 Kena just fits what I do so much better. Especially in regards to the proc conditions and cooldown.

I think its mostly the Overload and Wolf Claws types that were using this 2pc set. Lots of people like to 1pc it though.

I think its best suited for overload sorcs probably.

Its extra damage on demand after all, just light attack two times and then leap or incap or go anything really.

Its not really an amazing solo or 1v1 setup but for battlegrounds I find it to be a decent set.

I will probably try it again today.

I don't think Kena is optimal for any build, but if you really want to use it the best way I can think of is with a heavy attack build. Maelstrom lightning, 5 pc Infal, 2 Kena. Drop blockade + 1-2 more DoTs, proc Overkill and Heavy attack once or twice while Overkill is running out. Since you're heavy attacking and not casting during the Overkill the cost increase won't matter and your heavies + DoT's will all be stronger. It may take some work to find a timing that works (how many spells can you squeeze in?) but that's where I'd start from if I wanted to do it.

@Akinos turned me on to 2pc Kena. I use it on a couple of magplar builds, where I love it, and I played around with it on mageblade, where I hate it.

It’s not meta on anything, except possibly werewolf, but it can be really good when you know that you can force an offensive window. If you get forced to go defensive with Kena up then it’s going to wreck your sustain

There’s a few experienced pvpers still running it but it’s not a good solo set. If you can handle the sustain issues it can work in a solid group with a healer/support.

Molag Kena is the perfect example of what monster sets should be about.
Now even with the new standards even 5p crafted sets are better than using Kena.

P2w sentiments are rubbing on me as well lately.
New Dlcs bring in more ridiculous sets that ruin combat balance.
Dlcs have to sell and be worth it, but there must be a better way that addict proc sets.

What if new DLC armors raised flat stats?
You want to progress? Buy the DLC.
Stats do not ruin balance like proc sets do. They also encourage unskilled combat

I use too play heavy alchemist 2 piece kena 3 willpower back in the dark brotherhood patch on my magblade. It was op back then with the old siphoning attacks and broken heavy armor sustain. What I didn't like about it was it raised the cost of my ultimate. I would give it a try it's not best in slot or anything but it's fun to use

It was an epic set back in the day. Now it has its uses if you are clever, Werewolf / Overload, even an AOE build, whack you overlapping AOE down, double tap, then heavy through the higher resource period so no cost to you.

Im curious if its sustainable on a magicka sorc heavy attack build. Usually they use Liquid, Wall, Scamp and Curse with two heavy attacks in the rotation so sustain is not even an issue with blue food.

Pets dont scale off spell dmg but the rest of the skills would be buffed, especially Elemental Rage would get a significant dmg boost.

In the rotation you’d might need to change the order so the most valueble skills get the full 6s dmg buff.

Probably worth a shot because the normal pet sorc rotation is quite boring and dps isnt spectacular.

Using 2 piece kena is like saying, do I want to debuff myself. So I waste all my resources trying to burst and still not kill people. Its trash in pvp and I'm pretty sure nobody uses it in pve. 1 piece is better.....

I use it on my magdk. Two ranged light attacks then empower with chains and leap. The resource cost doesn't matter since using an ultimate. Perfect for bombing a group if you throw deep breath & prox det in there too.
