Briarheart set

Hey guys just have a few questions about briarheart set seeing as each jewellry piece goes for 150k on average on console so I want to see how good this set is before i spend the gold.

Firstly, if I was to use this on a stamdk back barred only for pvp, would I have enough crits from some of the dks dots (venomous claw and flames of oblivion for example) to ensure decent uptime?

Secondly, how decent is the heal? Does it have a cooldown or does it heal every time you crit within the procs uptime? I'd imagine if you combined this set with seventh legion and troll king your passive healing would be insane. I also like that the jewellry comes in robust and provides decent weapon damage.

Anyone who's experimented with this set for pvp please share your thoughts :)

Briarheart can be good for PvP, yes, but Stam DKs don’t often have high crit to begin with. How high is yours?

The heal is not large, but is handy ... since self-heals are hard to come by for that class. Yes, it will proc every time you have a crit strike.

Another option to the expensive purple jewelry is to find blue jewelry ... and start your experiment with a smaller investment up front.

Also worth noting that the Innate Axiom crafted set will get you nearly the same 5-pc weapon damage as a permanent stat bonus ... though it does not come with jewelry.

On the contrary, Stam DK’s regularly have good crit percentages. Slotting Flames of Oblivion gives them the crit bonus all the time.

-The more DoTs and sources of damage you have that are actively doing damage, the better the uptime is going to be. Usually 30-40% crit chance is enough to have Briar active off cooldown, *If* you have at least 2 DoTs running while actively dealing damage with light/heavy attacks.

-The heal is cut in half by battle spirit, cannot crit itself, and has a 1 second internal cooldown (meaning you can only get the heal a maximum of once per second).

In other words its somewhat lacklustre and not work the trouble?

Just seems like a 300 damage bonus + passive healing doesn't seem too bad if backbarred. But yeah maybe it's not as good as I thought it would be

It's outperformed in cp cyro by truth, legion, veiled and even automaton/axiom. I love the concept of the set on my stamsorc, have it golded since wrothgar release, but it's just not as good as the other sets mentioned.

Correct. You'd be better off running a different 5 piece on your backbar, that offers a higher amount of Weapon Damage, as it would buff your healing more as well and offer more damage as well.

Innate Axion only buffs your class abilities though. Which for a Stamina character is only going to be likely less than half of all your abilities.

My Stam Sorc uses it with Mechanical Acuity (proc'd from 2H bar), Masters DW and the 1-Pc Giant Spider Helm from when ZOS accidently put it in the Golden.

I like it, it's only blue robust jewellery so the whole set was very cheap and virtually identical stats to purple versions. Give it a try!

I use it on my stam dk. 5 briar, 5 VO, 2 krag.
mix that with the heal morph of twin slashes and vigor... you can solo most world bosses and do vma.
Use VO jewelry because its easy to get. buy/farm for briar daggers. mix the body pieces however you need to.

Krag + CP gets you around 5-6k pen. (5280 added from major fracture puts you close enough to 12k goal- noxious breath)
I tested recently on a dummy with this exact build (as a dunmer) and hit 36k.

More than enough for pretty much all content with the added bonus of passive heals.
