Besides guessing the date, I'm curious now about predicting what the biggest complaints will be on the forums from the announcement, because there always is a plethora of them...not that all of them or any of them are necessarily invalid, but, the popcorn muncher in me is ready.

My guesses for the big complaints:

-"Fix lag not add new stuff"
-"Spellcrafting locked behind paywall is P2W"
-"No new class, chapter not worth the price" or "New class is P2W"

Is it a safe bet to say most of them will have P2W in the title? I'll bet 50 gold pieces it is, but even if you lose the bet I'll give you one gold back so that it's not considered gambling because you still got something.

All these "Summerset will be announced" prediction threads are starting to sound like a bunch of end-times prophets predixting the return of Jesus and then having to recalculate their dates...

    Prophecy? About me?
"Dreaming... One netch. Two netch... Prophecy complete.
I see an island. A tower. Three princes. Darkness spreading across the land. I see a golden knight and an unexpected sacrifice. I see... an end..."
    That doesn't sound good.
"Everything must perish. That is the way of all reality. But the end that I see... you can alter the outcome. The variables indicate a minuscule percentage point in your favor."
So there is a way to change the future.
"A chance... Lord Seht and the Three willing.
Reflecting... reflecting... probabilities calculated... odds generated... demise certainty... ninety-nine point nine-nine percent. And Summerset is the sequence of the words."

    it is known.

Yeah, no duh its known. But these speculation threads about which date ZOS will announce it? Those are pretty much pie-in-the-sky end-times prophets going "Jesus will return on this date at this hour" and awkward fading away once that date passes...

I've updated the original comment with an explanation of the joke, because you're the second person who's responded to it seriously.

I speculate that others will Speculate on the Speculation date of the Chapter being announced.

So soon? Just cant wait to have Nord and Imperials and their likes taking an unnatural amount of time for the simplest of tasks. Like opening a door for a mer. What help are they supposed to be? They will be stomping about on the lands of the ancestors, be of no use and, hopefully, die.

I'm a bit sceptical about Spellcrafting (if it will be the main feature at all) being buy-only. It is something that was "announced" back in 2014 when the game was P2P. I think Spellcrafting should be part of the base game and come as something like Homestead (free for all players but with some advantages for ESO+ users).

The thing is, Warden as buy-only is no problem. It's just a class and not very outstanding and for sure not pay to win. Spellcrafting on the other hand might be a major game changer (depends on how they implement it). What I see as likely is the Psijik Guild and skill line being the feature of Summerset and buy-only and Spellcrafting maybe in Q3 or Q4 as part of the Artaeum patch.

Besides OP speculating on even his speculation, it really is obvious that Zos will announce the next chapter soon if it is to be released next.

We really do not need to come up with tones of theories as to why, there is one simple and straight forward one that has to do with marketing.

lol, what can I say? I am desperate for a Summerset announcement of any kind, and I've been waiting for one ever since the datamines came out. If writing up speculation posts helps pass the time until announcement, then so be it.

    What?

the ESO website is under maintenance then
    • ESO Website for maintenance – March 14, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC)

however I think this is probably merely an update for the new crown crates, since they come out march 15

The website is not usually updated for Crown Crates because you cannot buy crates directly from the site. We could be looking at a Crown sale starting Wednesday or, as was guessed, we could be looking at an update for the next chapter, be it a redesign or new purchase options.

I think a chapter announcement is imminent with Wednesday being quite possible.

Last chapter they made the combat system garbage. Maybe this one they make it good again?
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

well, we found some stuff in one of the recent updates that isn't big enough for its own post, but they're interesting anyway.

mainly, there's a new mob called "HM_SUM_Wraith" in the lang file, sounds like some boss or mob for a hard mode dungeon for summerset.

also, there's a new tooltip text for the summerset prologue quest with vanus galerion:

"An enchanted stone from Vanus Galerion contains a private message addressed to you. Activate the stone to start a quest to find the missing Wyrd Oracle and glimpse what's to come in the next chapter of the Elder Scrolls Online's ongoing saga."

there's also new spellcrafting stuff, in particular a spellbook ui, separated by magic school, in the .ZOSFT file:
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_base_left.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_base_right.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_highest_base_left.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_highest_base_right.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_showall_base_left.dds

    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_conjuration.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_destruction.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_general.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_heavyarmor.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_illusion.dds

    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_mysticismhealer.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_onehanded.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_restoration.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/spellbook_tabicon_twohanded.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/ui-spellbookleft.dds
    /esoui/art/spellbook/ui-spellbookright.dds

Nick Konkle said that you would store rubbings of ancient tomes in a spell book for spellcrafting, this seems to be it. I would imagine that you rub off the tomes with charcole or something, then you'd put them in this book to keep track of how many spells you've completed/unlocked, separated by magic school (destruction, restoration etc)

Awesome, that further recertains the possibility of spellcrafting indeed being a part of the update, but also makes me happy because it means that there will probably be stamina "spells" to be crafted too, since weapon skill line names are included in that list.

for the weapon/armour skill lines I was thinking it could be summonable armour/weapons, like in Oblivion, although now that I properly think about it I'm not sure how that would work with ESO's armour system.

Aaaaaaaah so Spellcrafting really could be a thing? This is all I wanted for ESO but I wasn't very optimistic... this is the silver lining for me. I hope my expectations don't get crushed... And when all this stuff is new... they are really working on and updating it? ...

Oh, it's not just kind words. I really enjoy reading your data mining threads and this here as well because you offer good arguments backed with "facts". Just like that you put in so much work into your threads.

So there will be 6 "schools"?

    Alteration
    Conjuration
    Destruction
    Illusion
    Mysticism
    Restoration

There is Thaumaturgy in the ES universe but that seems to be missing.

Another question is why Alteration and Mysticism have the addition "healer". Nevertheless very interesting!

Perhaps it's for stamina or magical regen? Or optional health regeneration effects that can be added to a craftable ability?

Frankly, I'm happy just to see Mysticism on there at all. In Gabrielle Benele's misguided* Proposal: Schools of Magic, the ever-so-popular Guild Mage argued that there's really no need for either Mysticism or Thaumaturgy. We more sensible mages know that nothing could be further from the truth, obviously.

If spellcrafting comes to us via the Psijic Order, then it makes sense to see Mysticism on there. Mysticism is what they're known for, after all, and it puts spellcrafting far away from Benele's meddlesome hands.

    * My impulse was to describe Benele's work as "well intentioned by misguided," but reading into the tone of the work, I can't help but think that she didn't write the book by choice. She's quick to downplay and dismiss Shad Astula's superior results, and her descriptions of the Schools of Magic belie an almost superficial grasp of the concept. If I still had access to the Mages Guild's resources and contacts, you can imagine she would be hearing from me.

I agree in accord. Mysticism includes some very helpfull spells.
I believe the reason why Lady Benele came to this conclusion, is because firstly, we decern the schools of magic based on their nature (thus it's up to us, whether a spell is an alteration or a mysticism spell) for example harness magicka, could be a mysticism spell, but is considered Alteration at the moment. I believe that's why she said, that mysticsm is not needed, as all mystic spells can as well be put into another school of magic.

Last chapter they made the combat system garbage. Maybe this one they make it good again?

Maybe they make it trash now.
