Online Daedric Dress Up Contest - My country cannot participate?

@ZOS_GinaBruno

This is kind of a concern to me as I really wanted to participate in the contest and already prepared my outfits accordingly. I am from Italy and according to this link (http://woobox.com/offers/rules/h97pgz), I am not in the countries that can submit their screenshots.

Is there any way to overcome this restriction and join? I fail to understand why some countries are completely excluded, and I really wouldn't want my submission to be void.

Please let me know if there is a chance to join and, fellow players who have been excluded, let ZoS hear our voices!

Your national laws, for whatever reason, make it unnecessarily onerous, to include you in an international contest.

For example, I know Aussies get excluded because their national laws require the drawing to be held in their country, to be legal.

It's not that you can't enter, it's that you can't receive any prize. And under those circumstances, you'd be an automatic winner!

Wow, really? I mean I know the countries that are excluded are excluded for cause..as in their country makes it nearly impossible or impossible for them to be included. It's nothing personal on ZOS's part.
But, you can't enter any contests not in your country is sad :( The internet has made the world a smaller place at a time when it should be great when we can ALL partake in the fun.

To be clear, I don't know what the issue is for @Anastian. I haven't checked out Italian law. But, it's going to be something along those lines.

Ack... And there's no way at all to join any contest for us then? It's kinda... Disappointing. Especially considering that some other countries like the Netherlands are not in the list so there's quite some EU population that isn't included

Generally speaking, @Anastian, it's gambling regulations that contests like this tend to run afoul of. Sometimes it's simply business regulation laws, so the company in question would need to register and have a presence in the country to extend contests to them.

I mean, I'll be honest, I'm not an expert on international law (nor am I a lawyer, I took some pre-law classes in college and then fled for my life), but a lot of these end up with your government trying to protect you from unscrupulous behavior, which then makes life far more annoying for you.

This is also why some states are excluded in the US. (Or at least, were excluded from the 1m Stories event.)

    (i) one of the 50 United States (or the District of Columbia) excluding the territories, military installations and commonwealths,

It means that those territories within the US are excluded, not the other countries ^^

The exclusion refers only to certain US territories, which is what point (i) deals with - for example overseas military bases or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. All other countries listed in points (ii) to (v) are included.

It wouldn't even make any sense to say "the United States, excluding France, Poland etc." We're not part of the United States. ;)

Okay then, thanks for clarification. These rules were written in a little bit chaotic way, so it confused me...

sorry, there's no one to appeal to. ZoS won't have time to legally review it (i think the contest may have already started) and it takes some time to change laws (at least where i'm from). i think it's just too late for this one.

    To paraphrase,
For games of skill, the promotion must be carried out within Italian territory and multi-country promotions are not allowed. If running the promotion on the Internet, the server that the website runs on must be location in Italy. Terms and conditions must be filed.

To a lesser extent, participation must be free of charge which raises complications for a game that you have to buy to play.

So there are numerous restrictions that prevent ZOS from offering this promotion in your country.

Your eligibility requirements would be checked if you were a winner, so the best you'd get out of it is perhaps bragging rights for a contest you couldn't actually win. Which feels like a hollow victory.

Because the laws in Spain, France and Germany (etc.) don't prevent their citizens from doing so.

you have a government.... members of parliament?

the area you live in surely gets to elect a representative to parliament.

it is your government that set the rules that stop you winning a prize in this competition not zos.

Your national laws, for whatever reason, make it unnecessarily onerous, to include you in an international contest.

For example, I know Aussies get excluded because their national laws require the drawing to be held in their country, to be legal.

This is incorrect. Australia is listed as a country which is eligible for this particular contest.

I love the way everyone knows all about these "laws" that seemingly do not exist, yet nobody can tell you what the law actually is, and unfortunately the one person who has tried to has been debunked by the fact that Australia is included.

Maybe, maybe not. This time there are no physical rewards, so maybe the rules are different than in other contests and that's why more countries are included. I know that's the case in my country, at least.
