Does Aetherial Dust no longer drop from raw material nodes?

I don't keep accurate counts but estimating, it's been over 57,000 nodes since I lost got an Aetherial Dust. 57 THOUSAND!

I used to get a dust about every 2 million in raws I sold. I've sold about 9 million gold worth since my last one. I'm starting to wonder if they don't drop any more!

I got one on PC/NA about a month ago, I'm sure someone's gotten one more recently than that. If they hadn't, I'd expect the price to skyrocket and since it hasn't, I can only assume that you are not favored by the RNG gods and must shun you lest your unluckiness rub off on me. Goodbye.

There are many, many players that have never even looted one. With the drop rate on these things, you'd need an astronomical sample size to determine anything about the drop rate. Even if the drop rate is 1 in 10,000, your 57,000 is barely significant to determine anything with any level of certainty.

I cannot say. I farm nodes quite a bit and have never found an Aetherial Dust.

I've found a total of three and one of them was just two weeks ago. Another was two months before that. And the third was a year and a half ago.

I've been playing for a little over a year now and have only found two within about two weeks of each other. That was almost 6 months ago and I do a lot of farming.

I've never found one in the 3 years of playing, and I farm A LOT!

I've gotten 5 aetherial dust since first playing this game on xbox one na, it can drop from any node and container far as I've seen. Last time I got it from an alchemy node.

I’ve gotten 5 or 6 over the last year or so, 3 of them while looking for a sharpened spriggan dagger. The dust had a higher drop rate lol

I have looted 3 on pc and 1 on ps4. The latest I got in the deshan public dungeon in the group event room. There Is a blacksmithing node there and while waiting for the boss to spawn I found it.

It should also be noted that, if I remember correctly, the dust only drops on nodes from the original zones. So no Crag, no Anvil, no Hew's Bane, no Wrothgar, no CWC, and no Vvardenfell.

And since the majority of players (in my estimation) are farming nodes in Anvil/Hew's for the double drops, or in Crag for the crux, you don't see as many dust as you used to.

That's correct, the dust only drops on base game zones. I got most of mine out of 3 or 4 total from alternating between farming Craglorn and a starter zone for mats.

I used to get them like candy while questing. Now that I actually farm resources regularly, I haven't gotten one in over a year (even when farming base game zones).

I am a farming fool and never have I found a dust. Ever. Nada. Zilch.

I've found two. One on EU ages ago, and one within 2 weeks of restarting on NA. But, I have played since release and never ONCE found a single Imperial motif book. And that's certainly not for lack of trying.

Crag counts as an original zone as far as ZOS is concerned. Yes it was released later, but it is now part of the base game since the dlc model came out.

To add to the OP, I received my one only dust from nodes just the other week. From a survey node no less.

I've only ever found 2 Dusts....and oddly enough they were both in the same zone! Bleakrock Aisle. Noobie zone. Not found at the same time. One was in a water node and the other on a wood node. The irony being that it was new characters that found them, not my dedicated farmer crafter characters.

Dust does not drop in Craglorn.

I've found 5 since they were introduced but none in 5-6 months. I don't worry about it as I will never find the cipher and won't sell them for gold, so I'll never 'run out' .

I've never found one. I don't do nearly as much farming as I once did, but still. One would think that I could reasonably find ONE at some point since they have been released. Therefor, I believe that finding them in the wild is a fairy tale.

I got one day one, 1st gather, after returning to the game after a 4 month "Morrowind" Templar nerf hiatus. I gave it away to a guildy lol.

i got 2 when i started in Nov 2016, got 2 within 3 weeks, then never seen it since.
we have better chances in Craglorn for nirnhoned material and fishing for Roe than getting a dust. devs need to rework that drop rate, it too way damn low.

The drop rate is as low as it is to retain the value and rarity of the XP pots it makes. Oddly enough, I doubt ZOS is interested in letting XP pots flood the market.

I have never found one and I have been playing since the ingredient was introduced. Not that it would do me any good to find one as the cipher which enables it drops less frequently than the dust.
