Parts of it are still working but anything that would alert to a skill being cast do not work now.

You can't use it to avoid snipes or other ganky skills. You can use it to see if you've been CCed or had other skills applied such as Mark.

Yeah; it lets you know when you have effects applied and tells you who did it.

Typical Blobs, making claims without any actual evidence to support it.

Before the patch, Miat's addon provided a "notifications" setting which would tell you the name of the person and the ability name, regardless of them being in stealth or not, if they target you with that skill, so things like start of heavy attack, ambush, snipe from stealth all showed up.

Now after the patch, this "notifications" feature does not work at all. It will only work if you have your reticle on the person as they're using the skill, so it definitely doesn't provide any information if they are in stealth, and definitely doesn't provide any information even if you're in combat with them but don't have your reticle over them.

Try doing some actual research or in cases where you can actually test something, test it yourself instead of just listening to some random streamer.

I'll admit I lol'd, the white knight part got me.

Although then I got annoyed I wrote "read" not "red" in my initial joke. FFS what is going on with my brain today.

While yes it would 100% be an exploit if it still functioned like before (I'm baffled to this day that it lasted as long as it did without any bans) but now the API has been fixed so the addon can't negate stealth-based strategies anymore.

But it's mostly the bad players who you'll notice suffering from its primary function being removed. Most good PvPers have enough awareness to notice the cues from typical ganking abilities.

Given people running straight at my face when I'm stealthed - something is going on that I'm noticed from side door to flag range though I've never left stealth.....make of that what you will.

I really don't know what it is, unless there's a 'scent vampire' passive I don't know about...

It's entirely possible you're just moving too predictably. Or they've used detection pots, or inner light.

Regardless, Miat's never caused anyone to see through stealth, it just got info from the API about attacks coming from stealth before a player entered combat.

No one got banned for Miat's being an exploit because ZOS said it wasn't an exploit and approved the addon. Take it up with them if the need for retroactive salt is so necessary.

I mean, it's about the clearest definition of an exploit as you can get. Using information not meant for players to have access to, in order to get a direct advantage over other players. The ethics of that are fairly straightforward.

At a point it just got too big for them to realistically met out punishment since they were chickenfooting around the issue for so long, as banning that many players would impact their reputation as well as their paychecks.

You say information not meant for players but they said it’s information for players that they put in the API and weren’t sure
If they wanted to change it a couple of months before changing it.

The API is there to push some of the processing to client-side to relieve some of the server load (for all the good that does), not to circumvent proper combat functionality.

You can hear someone using keep doors even if they're in stealth. From there, it's really easy to find whoever made the noise.

Except ZOS intended for the API to provide info in incoming channels. They (eventually) decided they didn't like how it was being used, and removed that functionality from the API. This isn't an exploit, it's just bad design which was later rectified. If we define an exploit as taking advantage of bad design, then running a destro ball group is an exploit, 7th legion is an exploit, proc sets were exploits, 1.5 magicka DK was an exploit, etc etc.

You're missing the point. They had come out with a statement at one point where they reviewed it and no actions were going to be taken on people who had used it and how it does not detect players in stealth, but just gave warning that someone went in stealth nearby. They took that part out of the API because they didn't want players to have that info. They left the being attacked notification; which tells me they were OK with it. Then I think it was Wrobel on ESO Live, that said they were aware of it and not sure if they wanted to change it yet. Then they decided to address it notifying you of attacks out of stealth. They have. It still notifies you otherwise though. Much like the basic game options that will give you combat queues like "Dodge roll now" "Block now"

So in short; they been aware of it for 2 years at least. Have been capable of modifying what the addon can provide and have. Have allowed parts of it to remain.

I cannot agree more. It was constructed within the given frame by ZOS, therefore not an exploit or a hack. It only got nerfed because of constant bow ganker complaints. The addon or not, people still could gank. But they changed the API to make stealth attacks undetectable within the given frame. It probably won't change much for bow gankers though. Unless people lag/insta die from first hit, people still will be able to counter and not die. Just from the audio cue anyways if it plays even during the lags.

This is funny. Lol. Doors make loud noiseand anyone with functioning ears will pick it up. And guess what they will do if they don't see anyone from that direction. They are gonna start searching. You should probably stop moving obviously or stop staying in a place where anyone knows where stealthers may be. If they are really hacking, using 3rd party software to inject modified code (not an addon), gonna have to prove it.
