Previewing furnishing diagram in guild store while mounted dismounts you

When you try to preview a furnishing formula/diagram while mounted, the guild trader interface is forcefully closed and you are dismounted. Fairly annoying.
I am not sure what update it started happening. Could be Clockwork city.

It's been like that for a while. Using any Preview on guild traders will dismount you.

And this is a problem why?

I never even thought of staying on my horse when shopping a guild kiosk. At speed 60, it is way too easy to over shoot approaching the vendor, then overshoot trying to correct that, then overshooting again trying to correct the correct....
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

There are numerous things which a character cannot do while on a mount, and the usual outcome is that the mount is automatically dismissed, leaving the character on foot.

For example, a mounted character can interact with a Mystic NPC to buy Merethic Resin, which is placed in the character's bags. When the character uses the Merethic Resin to combine 10 Glass Motif Fragments to form a crafting Glass Motif, the mount disappears and the binding process is executed while the character remains on foot.

Frankly, though, ordinarily my character dismounts, because it is easier to position the character to obtain the Interactive Prompt to begin the dialog with a Guild Trader or with an NPC Merchant.

What you describe has probably been the case either since Homesteads were introduced into the game, or whenever the ability to preview furnishings created by furnishing "recipes" was introduced. It may be annoying but it doesn't cause the game client to crash, does it? Do you lose any data when it happens?

This and my mount can block the NPC preventing others from interacting so I choose not to be mounted. Guild traders are always right next to each other anyway

No. Read my post again. Carefully. It was introduced semi-recently.

No offence, but this cancerous approach is one of the top reasons why companies don't care about fixing bugs.
"It does't crash the game so why bother?" I can't even find any words to comment.

Actually, I give up on these forums.
People playing this game is the weirdest community I have seen in my life in regards to being absolutely oblivious to game bugs.

You may be right, although I have my doubts. Don't bother telling me to read what I already read just because you don't like my response. My characters don't spend every moment mounted on a beast when and where it is possible for them to be mounted. Your habits may differ, but respect mine.

Has it occurred to you that what you described is not a bug?

Depending upon your opinion as to what a character should be able to do while mounted, perhaps it is a design oversight. For what it is worth, I agree that a mounted character should be able to preview the item that will be created by using its furnishing "recipe". But I doubt that was included in the design for the preview feature.

Why do I doubt that it was included? Because the software doesn't crash, or display an error dialog, when your character is mounted and attempts to preview the item which a furnishing recipe is used to create. Instead, the software responds to the attempt by treating it as invalid input.

In other words, what you described is not a technical flaw unless the design for the preview feature was intended to enable a character to preview the item created by using its furnishing "recipe", while mounted. Since neither you nor I have any reason to believe that the design was intended to permit that, only a ZOS developer can say whether the behavior that you described is the result of a bug.

My hunch is that the software is probably working as it was designed to do. The way that a piece of software functions is not a bug just because you or I do not like the way that it works.

Please re-read the very first statement of my initial reply to your comments, and think about it. Got it yet?
