Console Not Looking Forward to the Update...

I play on PS4 currently, and lowkey am not looking forward to this update at all. And neither are many of the folks that I have spoken with.

I mean... Yeah there are nice things that come along with it like the ability to design outfits (still a cash grab and gold sink), and the whole dragonic theme. But uh... The amount of: Bugs, nerfs (why must you kick my MagDK while it was already down ZOS?), and overall problems with this update have a lot of folks on console dreading the update which looms overhead.

Please tell me that you all at ZOS HQ will have all of these things ironed out by the time console gets it, and we won’t have to suffer like the PC players have. We’ve gone through enough on console (especially the Xbox players). Please tell me that we have nothing to worry about.

TL;DR Version: A lot of us on console are viewing this update like the Windows update from Vista or 7 to Windows 8 or 10. Do NOT want. :c

Keep your hopes up. Maybe some bug fixes already will be implemented.

On a side note, I couldn't wait to get rid of Vista  That was by far the worst windows implementation ever.

If they can't hotfix these issues then yes, Console will have to deal as well because of the bureaucracy behind console patches.

Lol pls no. Vista and 7 were by far best Windows OS to date. Well... Those and XP. But we don’t speak of the XP SP days, as those were apart of the “golden era”. ;)

In theory you should be getting a modified version of the patch.

I doubt you'll get all of our bugs, but you may end up with some. They're going to try and put out the most fixed version possible though.

Bwahahahaha, you know it sounds like a little bed time prayer and in the ESO universe where ZOS is god, they going to smite us with their vial nerfs and diabolical bugs...

But yes OP, I've dread patch and DLC updates for a while now. As patch date draws near, one can feel the gloom setting in...

The only positive thing about getting the update later than pc on consoles is that by the time the console update comes out we are already familiar with all the bugs, nerfs and glitches thanks to the pc community posting about them.

O and of course ZOS's favorite infamous hope giving lines like:

..."Implemented some fixes and improvements to ensure more consistent load times, and reduce the frequency of long load screens"

    and

..."And as always, we’ve made several adjustments and improvements to combat abilities, including an overhaul to our Synergy system, and several bug fixes."

Analyzing these statements one can see that its clever word play, they make it sound that performance will be better on our side but in fact that is only on server side and IT IS ONLY IMPROVEMENTS, not performance increase.

Anyway, thanks CHAMP, I always enjoy your awareness posts and I like that you ask questions that others will not.

    ;) Enjoy ESO!

The Mag DK nerfs are a meme

There have been a couple in every Battleground match I've played, and I've had my ass repeatedly handed to me, even with Medium Stam Sorc mobility, escaping a good DK feels impossible.

People overstate the costs of the outfit system. At absolute maximum, an outfit will cost you 25k gold, but it costs much much less to make a good looking one. What I am rocking cost less than 3k for the outfit (weapons are a tad more, but I splashed out on those)

As far as bugs go, the worst of them will be squashed by the time the patch reaches consoles, so it's nothing huge to worry about.

All of the new content next patch looks very nice. I definitely look forward to it.

But the bugs...... it’s more shocking than scary. It’s shocking how ZOS can allow their game to degrade like this and just keep on pushing content, despite like everyone wishing they’d have a game health/performance-based update rather new content for once.

Off topic here, but Vista? no no no. 95, 98 and XP were far superior. After that it went down hill ;)

As long as Cyrodiil does not end up with the dreaded loading screen of doom again so if you died you were screwed then i'm fine with it.

There is no bureaucracy bro that’s all bs. Every major game released on console and pc had no discrepancy with update releases. Examples are fortnite, pubg, call of duty, battlefield, starwars battle front, destiny, Skyrim, far cry, and over watch. Your telling me that eso is a special case?

I can't tell you whether you are right or wrong. I can say what I think, three days into it.

I like the Outfit System. Love the Outfit System. It is a great design and extremely flexible, and is probably one of the best system designs to come out of ZOS since the Crown Crate design. Sadly, It is not approachable because they have loaded it down with so many user fees and surcharges. I won't be using it as I had hoped, which is sad, and don't recommend this system to anyone.

I have a full stable of characters (8/8) and so I won't be participating much in the Leveling System. What I see of the recommendations looks interesting, and if they did that right, will be a boon to new characters. The rewards are a bit dodgy, and I question the inclusion of items of value, even if they are one-time-only. Still, for someone with an open slot, or the desire to spend 1500 Crowns, I do recommend this system.

I am not a big fan of dungeons. It is not my primary reason for playing. I have spent the last few days watching streams where they have done them, and thumbs up. I think that Finn and his team have done an excellent job here, from watching and listening to the people who are doing the content. I have no hesitations about recommending them.

I am not one to get really upset over balance changes. It is more "upsetting" how the community responds, than what ZOS does. I adapt to the changes, and most of them are not that big of a change to me. If a character becomes harder to play, or I don't like the direction the class goes, I have a stable of alts that I can play, and I can always respec away from the nerfs. In the end, most of the combat changes are interesting only until I finish adapting.

Bugs and the lack of ongoing support of the game are a big problem in this Update, though. The bug with bound items getting deleted might make it to console, and that is serious. I expect the bug with stamina movement and bar swap to be on console. I don't expect the fiasco with XP or 1 Crown houses to be an issue on Console. ZOS quality issues always rear up whenever they release an update, and this update does have some interesting bugs.

There are some minor quality of life updates, bug fixes, and stuff like that. These are always welcome, even if other things break.

There is nothing in this update that I fear. Last Sunday, I rated this update a "Somewhat interested". Looking back, it did not quite reach that level. I am more "a little interested", I think.

I would not compare this to Windows updates as Update 17 is a lot more "yawn" for me than any of the Windows version changes.

This is a common feeling, not just on console but throughout the ESO Community I have witnessed. When new content is released, people aren't excited. They are "lowkey dreading" updates, as OP mentioned. This is CRAZY! Not for @Ch4mpTW (I understand their feelings)... but for the company to have their playerbase feel this way over what should be an exciting time. If I am a simple "causal" and can sense this, how does the company not realize that the community feels this way. Not just this update. Every update! Did they learn NOTHING from Morrowind? Apparently not.

Morrowind should have been a golden day for the game. Players should have been nuts crazy with excitement over the release of content that is so cherished by most TES players. Instead, the game population became frustrated and angry as the update approached. At best they were "lowkey dreading" the update.

When will Zo$ learn to separate the two? Release new content SEPARATE from update patches. Other games do this. In fact, almost every single MMO I have played previous to this does updates on a weekly/bi-monthly basis. They are constantly tweaking updates, not this "we change the game every 3/6 months". @Alcast said this last summer before Morrowind dropped. He pleaded with Zo$ to spread out the changes, incrementally and not everything at once. Alcast knows more about this game than I do, he seems to have arrived at the logic almost a year ago. Why can he (and most of us) figure out this logic but the company has not?

Sigh. After three years in, I doubt they will ever get the message.
