Mounted Warfare/Cavalry Skillbar Request

The fact that you’re forced to dismount to use any skill other than rapids is absurd to me. Mounted warfare could be really cool in Cyro. C’mon @ZOS_GinaBruno be a champion for this and earn yourself a bonus. Mounts are the biggest cash cow for ZOS there is! New skills and weapons plus a dedicated ability bar when mounted. Revenue generating reason to add something new to the Alliance war!!

    While I don't agree with mounted warfare exactly I do think we should have a dedicated skill bar for when mounted which has rapids on it

    Another skill called chariot where you and two others can ride the chariot great for people with slow mounts.(passengers can use bow skills)

    These would be active skills

    All others would be passives like the vampire skill line

    But it's not getting an ultimate

    eye of the flame should be cast-able from a mount. And as a passive your horse should have unlimited stamina when the skill is cast and the caster himself should get a protective shield which can abosrb up to 1 million damage. And all stamina skill should not work when near the horse, like some sort of silent spell for stamina.

    Having played LOTRO which actually does have mounted combat, I can tell you that when it was implemented it was the cause of LOT OF lag. With the lag and disconnect and loading screens still being a huge problem in Cyro, I can't imagine that this would help. I'd rather they fix the issues that are still prominent rather than add something that is bound to break more and cause more issues than it is worth.

    I think it could get messy really fast and be a nightmare to code / lag. BUT yes of it could work well I'd love to charge into attacking players and send them flying with my bear. DL Leap style. Lance would be sweet lol

    Would be super cool, but probably an idea for a different game at this point.

    I do wish you had a 6th skill slot just for rapids that's only active while mounted (so not available in combat, unless you slot it in an actual slot). I'm on PC, so I work around it with addons and have that exact functionality, but it would be nice to have it natively.

    Less Calculations, that’s how you fix lag. Being a web developer myself, I know how messy a legacy code base can be. This is simply a feature request outside of the game’s technical difficulties. Bringing this feature or any feature live without sacrificing UX goes without saying. Or it should.

    Next I’ll hear all the different outfits are causing lag in Cyrodiil. smh...

    The idea is to have a separate bar for mounted skills and weapons. Not just a bomber running on horseback with Eye of Flame and Grothdarr. Certainly some skills (snipes, stuns, ultimates, etc) would be OP while mounted.

    We already have problems with animations and clunky combat from it. No need for extra clunky combat. On paper it may sound nice. But just no. I'd rather see the combat improved such as properly built animation cancelling (not this clunky bug turned to feature but with smooth flow of combat animations) before any of this is considered by them.

    Wouldn’t we all? But seeing as how the limitations are extremely technical and non-profitable to fix, there is little hope that there will be resources devoted to your wants. You gotta somehow tickle their wallet to get ZOS interested in Cyrodiil again.

    The Lotro mounted combat lag was because of its over-complex implementation. Here it would be like a raid with major and minor expedition that does massive frontal damage + CC. Thus not much different than a normal group, with the exception that stam classes are better balanced for group combat than without mounted combat.

    1) When mounted, one should get a separate skillbar. Skills that are unsuited for mounted combat (like Steel Tornado, Teleports, Eye of the Storm etc.) just make the rider dismount. Charge skills do 200% extra damage.

    2) To make melee combat on horseback less clunky, all melee skills have an auto-movement system, e.g. if you use Dizzy Swing on a target 10m away, your horse will charge and move to a position where the animation is executed. Of couse, this also drains horse stamina and makes you vulnerable due to the increased animation time.

    2) When hitting an enemy while sprinting with the horse, all enemy players in a cone are knocked back and receive some physical damage. Every enemy hit costs horse stamina.

    3) Some skills (e.g. Fear, Caltrops, AoE Fire damage skills) and all werewolf skills/ attacks have a dismount bonus. If a rider is being dismounted, s/he receives heavy damage, is stunned for 3 seconds, disoriented for 10 seconds, and slowed by 50% for 10 seconds.

    4) We finally get a separate Pole Weapons skill line designed to offtank, buff, and counter charges ;)

    ive never been more jealous of addons as i am right now. i had no idea u could do that. screw pc for not having to choose between speed and a perfectly built skillbar.

    Mounted combat in other games has always been pretty damn cool. It would make sense for ESO to also have it. However, adding another feature to Cyrodiil, I fear it would break it. Considering how fragile Cyrodiil already is. Not a day goes by that someone complains about lagging, or slow loading screens. So I hope Zenimax focuses on fixing/improving Cyrodiil for less lag.

    In the future perhaps, when Cyrodiil is more stable I would gladly see mounted combat there. But for now lets prioritize on the game we have right now that it actually works and runs smoothly.

    I can only think how messy / absurd this could end up, mounts flying everywhere, lag, bugs etc.

    But concept, even if you had a Horse Ultimate, drained your Ultimate but did something. The idea of a knockback at full speed would be ace when you charge through the FD to help defend a keep scattering defenders repairing the door flying etc.

    How sad that we are afraid that adding something cool to the game is going to break it! What have we come to? A point where users have so little confidence in this game that we might as well shut it down and start over? Have the disconnects and lag been any better in PvE!? No, they haven’t, so might as well trash this game and start over!!!

    But wait... there is this little thing called MONEY, and all you naysayers who doubt the game can handle more cool features will still be pumping yours into this flawed codebase, lag and all! So unless y’all gonna go on strike and stop playing ESO to get things fixed then take all your non-constructive negativity and shove it... respectfully. :-)

    On a happier note, thanks to all of you who have proposed ideas on this. We can always dream of an Alliance War with cavalry, true strategy and battle formations, opening all of Cyrodiil to gameplay!
