MagBlade rotations

Ok for a while now I have been running a pretty static rotation with my nightblade. I overcast twisting path because on console we don't have a tracker that will track ground dots, so I just recast it every 8 seconds with my blockade and cripple. I know this is a dps loss and I want to max out my dps. The only problem is I am not good at all coming up with rotations. I was wondering for all you magblade gurus out there would care to share you rotations with me? I'd love to see what other people better than I have came up with to squeeze out the little extra dps out of my guy. I have siphoning attacks and merciless on my front bar, with all my dots on the back bar. I have through about switching cripple around to the front bar or twisting path.

Any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated. For the record I do not have a perfected asylum staff so I will be running funnel health and not crushing shock/force pulse.

I also recommend the video that Lightspeed posted. Get a snack and watch the whole thing.

Since they're bringing out a 15th character slot, I've decided to make a magblade, since that's the only type of class I don't have yet. That video was very helpful.

The only problem on xbox is that most of the time you are not able to get three bow procs per activation due to latency issues. Ive tried everything from bar swap animation canceling to block canceling skills and it just isnt possible. I don't know what the issue is. I got a friend that also plays on pc and he says he does the three bow procs all the time, but can only get two on xbox.

With the release of dragon bones tho, and the changes to merciless resolve that should fix that.

What exactly is changing with merciless resolve?

Going to watch that video later, I might be making my nb tank into a magblade dps after dragon bones. Im getting annoyed with how uncomfortable tanking trials is with him.

Grim Focus: The stacks you build towards the bow proc for this ability and its morphs will now remain if you recast the ability early, or if the ability expires. The partial stacks are removed if you exit combat.

    That's a pretty nice change...

So I might make my nb tank a magblade dps/healer, and since my magdk got super nerfed and is pretty useless i might see about a stamina damage/tank build instead.

Im working on my magicka NB too and I have a couple questions for the experts.
On my front bar I have an infused fire staff (single target) with a nirnhoned lighting staff (AOE) on my back bar.

Elemental Blockade and Crippling Grasp have the 8s same duration but Twisting Path has a longer 12s duration. Crippling Grasp is single target so casting it from the front bar would result in more dmg but it makes the rotation more complicated. Twisting Path is AOE so there's a dmg boost if you cast it from the back bar.

Alcast uses Twisting Path on this front bar to get the full 12s duration, Gilliam uses it on his back bar to make the rotation easier. This made me consider swapping Twisting Path with Crippling Grasp on Alcast's build. So the skills would look like this:

    Front bar - fire staff
    1) Crippling Grasp
    2) Swallow Soul
    3) Merciless Resolve
    4) Impale
    5) Inner Light
    U) Detro Ult

    Back bar - lightning staff
    1) Twisting Path
    2) Elemental Blockade
    3) Harness Magicka
    4) Siphoning Attacks
    5) Inner Light
    U) Soul Harvest

The idea was to cast Twisting Path before Elemental Blockade in the rotation so if you have to shield and/or reapply Siphoning Attacks Twisting Path doesnt run out.

Has anyone tried a similar bar setup? And if so, is it worth the more difficult rotation?

This is what I try to do (not my video)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOH0uQ-Qgbw

But unless you´ve really good ping and FPS getting 3 bow-procs will be next to impossible.

Has anyone tried a similar bar setup? And if so, is it worth the more difficult rotation?

I have tried and tried to come up with a rotation that would allow me to cast refreshing path after its duration instead of recasting it early. I play on xbox so I do not have a any type of tracker to track my dots. I can do it sort of on a dummy parse, but I personally can not do it on a lambent or in a trial when there are a ton of other visual effects going on. That type of rotation will never work out to a standard static rotation with the bow procs, and the different times on the DoT/AOEs, never mind trying to keep up with it while trying to do mechanics.

I have two rotations which are static and will give two bow procs per Merciless Resolve activation (that is the most I have seen anyone get on xbox anyways because with the performance on the game 3 is a no go at this point as far as I know.. I am excited about the changes with Dragon bones as I will be able to get three.

Here are the the two rotations I have:

    Prefight: siphoning attacks, merciless resolve

    1) light attack, blockade, light attack, cripple, light attack, twisting path, bar swap.
    2) light attack, funnel health x4, light attack, spectral bow, barswap.
    3) light attack, blockade, light attack, cripple, light attack, twisting path.
4)light attack, funnel health x2, light attack, spectral bow, light attack merciless resolve, light attack, siphoning attacks.

    restart.

Here is my other rotation which puts cripple on the inferno bar and puts siphoning attacks on the lighting bar.

    Prefight: Merciless Resolve

    1) light attack blockade, light attack twisting path, light attack, siphoning attacks, barswap, light attack, cripple, light attack funnel health, light attack, spectral bow, light attack, funnel health x2, barswap.
    2) light attack, blockade, light attack, twisting, barswap, light attack, cripple, light attack, spectral bow, light attack funnel healthx3, light attack, merciless resolve.

    restart.

I am becoming a fan of the 2nd one as I have lost some bow procs due to mechanics while holding it on the x4 funnel health weaves.

I hit like 38.7k with the 2nd rotation without using soul harvest.

I run my bars like this:

    1 inner light
    2 crippling grasp
    3 impale
    4 funnel health
    5 merciless
    U destro

    1 twisting path
    2 wall of elements
    3 siphoning attacks
    4 inner light
    5 drain/shield/assassination ability
    U soul Harvest

    Start with siphoning and merciless.
Then heavy attack/light attack cripple, bar swap light attack blockade light attack twisting bar swap
Light attack assassins will. Light attack funnel x3 light attack cripple bar swap light attack blockade light attack siphoning bar swap light attack, assassins will, light attack reply merciless, light attack funnel x2 start over.

It's possible to get 3 assassins will procs but light weaving on console is annoying and unreliable.
I also run a similar setup with force pulse that does more damage but is harder for me to sustain.

I run my bars like this
Inferno front: 1 Merciless, 2 Crippling, 3 Inner light, 4 Impale, 5 Funnel and Destro ult
Lightning back: 1 Siphoning, 2 Blockade, 3 Inner light, 4 Shield, 5 Twisting path and Soul harvest or just destro ult.
Rotation is very simple. Before the fight starts I cast siphoning and merciless. Then it's twisting, blockade, bar swap, crippling, funnel x3, merciless proc bar swap, twisting, blockade, siphoning bar swap, crippling, funnel x3 merciless proc and recast bar swap.
I haven't really even tried to learn a rotation with three merciless procs, because the trials in xbox eu server are sometimes really laggy and it's sometimes even hard to do a simple rotation.
I also have a alternate setup with force pulse and asylum inferno staff where I just put meteor front bar and destro ulti back bar. This consumes a lot magicka tho so I need some more recovery, but it does like 1-3 k more dps. Rotation is pretty much the same just replace the funnel with force pulse.

Anyone get massive sustain issues with magblade? Maybe I'm just messing up my light weaving (since I assume light attacks need to be top dps in combat metrics, but for me it's usually 3rd).

On 3mil skele I'm usually out of mana 41 secs in lol.

Same, I can barely sustain with Siphon Strikes and Elemental Drain.

There’s another topic about increased resource cost which might be the issue.
