I am sure they could. We also have the oversized dog mounts. This would be just a scaled up pig, and it would look silly. But, then we could have silly looking water, air, fire, ice, daedric, and dwemer pig mounts, right?

Agreed. Maybe next time, ZOS will use a wolf instead of a dog. Much like the horses don't really match real horses, the dire wolves in this game share differentiating attributes from the dog.
