https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smi6Yi5tZ1E&t=3s My question is best settings for what?
FPS? Graphics? A compromise between the two?
Because it just seems that (other than the MaxCoresToUse setting) the video is basically just "turn everything to low/off", which is fairly self-evident if you are looking for the best FPS and you don't care if the game look terrible.
Also, I tested the MaxCores setting from 6 to 11 and noticed no difference in FPS or loading times, but that is probably because I only have a 4 core i5-4670k.

in that thread for PVP . Some of the values in subtexture setting cause bottlenecks with gpu , even on high end rigs during combat . With these settings I can get upwards of 75fps while keeping good graphics . It adjusts the problems in shadows so you can have them on while also giving a smoother rendering of sub textures while moving . Reduces strain on cpu and gpu so over clocking gets the max results . PVP FPS is hard to keep stable for all machines and those setting keep the drops from going under 35-40 for my PC . Also recently deleted all add on saved variables due to memory leak in this patch and got another 5fps and more stability .
Appricate the information to help us all get better performance , thank you for sharing .

Excellent . Quick question , can a I7 quad core make the core setting change you mentioned to 11 safely ?

You should be in the clear, if you experience any issues just google what CPU you have or post it here and ill tell you the core count for your CPU. I believe you have 8 unless you have the new I7 8700k which has 12 but setting it to 11 should be fine for you regardless

Im_MegaDeath wrote: »Yeah as im reading about it, seems it is meant for older hardware, but also Win 10 has that built in now so you should be good if you are on win 10

Some of these settings actually helped my weak spec laptop. Thank you. One question, my laptop has an i-5 with only 2 cores but the default still says "6" would it hurt anything to change that setting?

But I don't understand why boosting this setting to 11 would improve the performance. From what I have read the game was designed for 4 core processors and hasn't really been upgraded or optimized since then. And everyone insists that this game loves single core performance... I know this helped you but logically it seems like giving the game more cores to randomly disperse upon might not hurt the game but I would assume it would reduce the capability of fps where as that is affected by single core peak performance. Usually the benchmarks I have seen the more cores you have in a program that utilizes them, then the lower your highest individual core clock speed is. Thats why when benchmark in games with a 1080ti a lot of games the i5 8700k which is 6 cores with no threads will beat the i7 8700k. Also when you consider that blockbuster games like GTA V and others don't benefit from having more than 6 cores/threads then I find it really hard to believe ESO would, seeing how poorly designed and optimized people claim it is. Are you sure you didn't change anything else before noticing the "improved load times"? Did you time it with a stop watch? Thanks.
Don't fool yourself with this 8700k nonsense , i7740x is the way to go , its the best CPU for High GHZ Overclocks , if you have decent Cooling 5.1 - 5.2ghz even 5.4ghz is possible ,I run my i7740x with crappy 45$ Liquid Cooler and can still maintain 4.9ghz at a reasonable temperatures while gaming.
