What sets do you run on your Tank?

Just curious if there are any interesting builds people use. Do you provide your group with support sets, support through faster ultimate-gen, or stack high into health/resistances?

I am currently running 5 Piece Hist Bark, 5 Piece Plague Doctor, 2 Piece Bloodspawn.

I don't run trials on my tank so the group buff armor sets are not all that important to me or the group I am in. I have 25+K Resists Unbuffed, so I hit the cap with Shields and Group Buffs, 54K Health, 17K Stamina and Magic. I get great Ultimate Regen from Bloodspawn so I can keep Shifting Standard up almost continuously. I have so much health that I never die and my shields are just that much stronger. My only regret is not having Warhorn unlocked on him yet and to take him into PvP in his current state is not something I want to consider.

I run Torag's and Plague Doctor. Sometimes switching Plague to Ebon if needed.

Here is something I found . If you have Alkosh in the group , Torug becomes overkill for stamina DDs .

Base Penetration : 100
Major Fracture : 5280
Sunderflame : 3440
Night Mother Gaze : 2580
Power of the Light : 1320
Infused Crusher : 2740
Alkosh : 3010

All of these combined makes a total of 18470 . Trial and dungeon enemies have 18200 resistances . If you do not use Torug's , total penetration value will be 17870 . This can be covered by only 3 points into Piercing for Stamina users and 15 points into Spell Erosion for Magicka users .

Not using Torug's on your tank also makes it possible for healers to run Crusher as well , creating 4 (2 in 4 man dungeons) different sources of Crusher , resulting in more group DPS in trash fights .

I primarily run with a social guild, so groups are not usually optimized. I mostly run Hist, Ebon, and Lord Warden. If I want to be able to use ultimates more often, I swap Ebon for Akaviri Dragonguard. If I am running with a group where I may actually need to contribute a little to damage while tanking (dungeons) I will swap Lord Warden for Tremorscale.

This is also assuming a 100% uptime on alkosh, which is usually not the case and unless there is a 3rd player wearing it, it will definintly not be the case

Ebon and plague doctor with maelstrom swords and shields for sustain. Not the best for the group but I'm almost unkillable in pve.

That Other set has been Worm's Raiment when I didn't bother to change from PVP, Silks of the Sun for a little extra DPS, Knightmare currently for the minor maim.

I wore Whitestrakes when I was learning to tank, and Plague Doctor before I got Ebon Armory.

Honestly, it depends. I have Ebon, Torugs, Plague Doctor and a few other sets, just depend on what I feel I need and what the group needs but I've had people complain regardless of which set I was wearing that I honestly stopped giving a flying f*** and just wear whatever I feel like.

Been wearing Tava's and Akaviri Dragonguard on my NB tank and people sure aren't complaining when they get Warhorns and Veils every 45 seconds or so.

I run combos of Ebon, Torugs, Plague Doctors and Dragon. Depends what I’m doing. Mostly Ebon/Torugs for vet dungeons, I switch out Torugs for PD for the harder DLC dungeons when I know the deeps is good. I only recently finally finished my Dragon set so I’m working that in as well. I’ve got Alkosh weapons and jewellery as well, but I haven’t been running that lately due to unreliability of the synergies.
Monster set I run Blood Spawn but I’ve been chucking Lord Warden on every now and then to switch things up.

Err...DK’s already have access to minor maim via an AoE no less - Choking Talons

Should never be a reason to run Worm on a tank. It is one of the easiest sets to farm in the game. At least one of the healers should have it; if not, they’re not trials ready (referring mostly to vet trials).

Silks is garbage. As a tank that extra damage from silks is neglible. You’d be better off just tossing on Grothdar and throwing an Maelstrom inferno backbar. You could drop blockade, Pulsar, and Igneous + heavy attacks coupled with the Maelstrom boost.

I've been leaning mostly on warrior poet/ebon lately.... used hist bark for a while (might do again for dragon bones)

For a laugh, I swap out chains for charge and put on tormentor... I do this more than I care to admit for funs

Um, thanks, for your opinion. I run dungeons, not trials, so the truth is, for the content I run and the group of friends I run with, ANY set paired with Ebon will serve me just as well. I switch out that second set periodically, trying different things when I get bored. So when I answered with my sets, I was saying what I wear, not what I necessarily recommend or asking for suggestions.

So I suppose I appreciate your attempt at being helpful, but I was just answering the OP's poll, not asking for suggestions on gear sets to run. If I wanted that, I would have asked or looked on the myriad of tank gear posts here.

It’s usually Torug’s + Ebon + 1pc Chokethorn and Shadowrend for me when running with my usual group, and in most trials.
I’ve got about 8 different sets on me at all times to mix and match, for when I’m PUGging Vet dungeons and things aren’t looking too good, varies in the spectrum between Uber Selfish Tank and Support Slave.

Ebon + Torugs is pretty tough to beat for most 4 man content. It is an excellent combination of both a survival and damage buff for your group. I will also occasionally run Dragon+Torugs if I know my group has really high damage and doesnt need the HP because it allows for extra war horns. On the extremely rare occasion that I tank 12 man content, I wear whatever the raid leader asks me to wear.

Willow's Path 5 piece, Lord Warden Dusk shoulders, Bone Pirate helm, Blessing of the Potentates jewelry, and whatever the hell weapons I want.

Judge me all you want, I make it work. At least for non-trials. Have yet to see if I can make it work there. Maybe. We'll see.
