Why do PVP videos...

... always have that god awful durty bassline or dubstep crap playing over the top, instead of the game audio? I mean I could tolerate it if it was tasteful music at least, but it seems like most of the good PVP players seem to listen exclusively to the absolute worst EDM has had to offer us in the last decade.

Get some taste guys. But on a more serious level, there are a lot of audio cues in this game that you miss out on when it's obscured by phat beats, and it would be good to hear them when you're trying to learn. Even better would be commentated footage, which seems to be the norm for every other game out there- While here we are watching kill compilations with crappy trance music like it's 2005.

So is there an actual reason behind this?

People want to show off their skill, If you want to learn then watch guides and play/experiment yourself. Also, if you don't like the "god aweful music" then just muted it and put your own music on in the background.

Firstly, no one really uploads educational PVP content. You aren't going to get better by watching videos, you have to actually play.
It's one thing to be told "Abuse Line of Sight" and another thing to realise in game, "If I go round the corner, the bad warden can't touch me with his birds anymore"

Secondly, musical tastes vary. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it is the worst thing in existence.

well to be fair, your music probably sucks to a lot of people also, and for an example. if i record a video the program i use is set up to record me also and i have a two year old. so there is weird noise coming from my end all the time, so muting it and putting something in the background fixes that.

cant you mute it? i think that would be easier than being salty and making a thread about it

Hello Mr. Official Arbiter of Musical Quality! :D

I have no idea about the music choices. I'm guessing personal tastes; perhaps this music gets them in the mood to kill stuff in pvp.

It gives me a powerful lust for Buckfast and deep fried foods, but overall I find the structure to be rather thoughtlessly constructed, which creates a level of emotional disinterest towards the latter half of the piece that lets down an otherwise strong premise. 7/10.

But to the OP like other have said If i made a video and didnt put music over the in game music and live voice you would hear my dogs barking, budgies screeching, and the Mrs screaming at my useless lad, and last of all no one wants to hear me scream when I die.

Plus dont forget most PvPers are bad ass gangsters yeah and cant let anyone hear their pre pubescent voices screeching "HOLD THAT L DOG.......Oh ummm yes mum I'll keep the noise down ;)

    If only...

PVP videos and bad music are endemic in all the MMOs I've ever played, particularly when it comes to 1v1 or 1vX videos.

Well, true, I guess the keyword here is (yet again) "MMO".

I mean, commentated videos are the norm for every other real game.

in case it hasn't been said yet. the reason music is awful is becasue its the only music you can use royalty and attribution free. everyone uses virtually the same sets of songs, becasue that's what twitch/youtube etc let you use without you losing your audio completely to copyright claims.

I personally don't leave the game audio in my videos because I either have people in discord talking or my ingame sound is too low. However I don't put edm music over my videos because it doesn't really fit the "theme" of knights and magic and stuff like that

Musical taste is personal and that's that. Usually as you get older you realise that calling it horrendous doesn't make the other person see it your way. The quicker you realise that you can't change peoples choices the less aggravation you'll feel by 'crap' music.

As for commentating, Blobs films and commentates duel tournaments.
Some pvp'ers do a bit of both. I looked at Kodi's youtube for the first time the other day. Some vids with music and some commentating.

It's a mixed bag out there.

It’s because most of them are angry, salty eso bros who need to post videos of their pug stomping to feel like they mean something. You get some of the worst salt whispers from famous 1vXers. Like they’re mad that since you’re not a mindless pug you didnt let them pvdoor your trikeep with their best bud. (True story).

You can really tell who has garbage taste by listening to the kind of music they like. If it's ever dubstep, rap, or screamo/metal/hard rock, you do yourself no favors by hanging around someone of such poor taste.

I don't like the music, I don't like the videos, I don't like any of it. But that doesn't give me any right to pass judgement on it and make a thread on forums about, which literally has no purpose other than to invite other people to start passing their judgements on the same thing. Obviously you have the right to your own opinion and all, and free speech and all that. But why not post your comments on their youtube video, telling them you don't like it or telling them next time to try a different song or editing technique? Or you could just flat out rip into them about how their channel is going to fail. At least youtube is the corrext place to critique them. Whereas on here you're literally just inviting your fellow forum buddies to get on their musical high horse and mock those who have a different musical taste than you. No wonder younger people nowadays cant relate to the older when all the older generations do is take the pee out of anything the younger ones do.

I try and keep game sound in my recordings and have it balanced with music. Music is good to help set the tone of the video. Eg. if it's a funny clip you have more troll music etc. Some peoples music choice does flow well with the pace of the combat which is quite cool.

Usually you can see what is happening in the video just by watching, you don't need commentary. Commentary of ESO pvp usually ends up people just stating the obvious like 'I line of sight around the rock, see that they group up, sub assault then dawnbreaker' and they just repeat this sentence 20 times through out the video because it's literally all they are doing...

I've never heard of a zerg playing any kind of music besides techno/house/remix/mashup/trap/dubstep (you get it) either. But I guess it is because it has a certain 'speed' and it does something with you. I listen to the exact same while doing vma because it helps somehow. Don't think any kind of 'calm' music would help you out in a somewhat stressful situation. It's like working out. You want something with a beat to stick to and help you work out.
