Into the woods quest bug?

So I followed the shadow walker 6 times and each time if coming up failed... I've avoided the adds, killed the adds, followed him to 6 different spots and still its coming up as failed. If I didn't need soul assault Molag Bal could keep that aleyid prince as far as I'm concerned.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what to do?

This is one of the most frustrating quests in the game. You aren't the only one having issues with it.

General Advice: use the wisps of light to refill your timer as you follow and try to avoid the enemies. Sometimes I'll kill everything in the area before I follow and hope that makes it a little easier.

I know this is an older post, but it's still annoying. If you know the location of the Khajiit you can just go there.

Khajiit location. This quest is still buged even in 2024.

It's not bugged, it just has very tricky timing.
