RIP Xivkyn face

According to tonight's ESO live we won't be able to hide the helmets on our polymorphs after the outfit system gets implemented.

ZOS you owe me 425k gold. I recently bought a Xivkyn polymorph JUST for the fact that I could have the face of a Xivkyn on a character who I created and leveled to 50 specifically for the polymorph face. I already had the Xivkyn motif, I could have just made armor in that style, so without the face being visible the polymorph is going to be useless to me.

Basically I spent 425,000 gold for a face that you are now taking out of the game. FML

    I'm not into polymorphs tbh.

BUT I do wish Zeni would understand that taking away stuff that has previously been available is going to annoy people. Whether it is space in Earthtear Cavern, or whatever it is you folks are doing with your polymorphs.

Zeni - try not to remove the ability to do stuff - unless it's an exploit or something. Restricting the way cosmetic stuff works annoys people and makes them feel like they have wasted money (in game gold or crowns).

That’s such a pain in the ass. I hate when they do stupid, unnecessary crap like this. The thing that was great about the hide helmet function being in game options is that on PC, you could set a toggle for it with add ons. Anytime I wanted to wear or remove headgear, I could do so. Even without the add on, I could still click it on/off anywhere in options. What now? Every time I want to hide helmet, I have to go to an Outfit Station? And now I outright can’t with polymorphs? Get the hell out of here with that.

Can you provide a quote? Logically, using the hide helm in collection tab should work with polymorphs. Did they actually deliberately state and intend otherwise?

Instead of taking away the face they could be awesome and reverse it. Give us the ability to put any armor on our polymorphs via the outfit system.

Holy crap you guys are good of finding stuff to wine about...

yes the polymorph will suffer the ability to not be able to hide helmet but for the cost of having the most amazing costume job for your character, please go drink cool aid and be abit happy.

ummm no? There is absolutely no defendable logical reason to remove such a feature. Hide helm should have remained in the gameplay settings in the first place.

By that they mean that they will release a version without the helmet for 11.000 crowns.

Yeah, this is a real bummer. I liked how they were apparently hiding enormous horns under the helmets. ):

I hope they work out an interim fix or plan on reintroducing it in the future. I quite like the medium Xivkyn polymorph.

Then they need to design new systems being added to the game in ways that don't interfere with old functionalities. Polymorphs currently allow you to hide the helmet and see yourself as a Xivyn, because that's how the polymorphs work. I'm not a Dunmer, I'm a Xivkyn. If I can't remove the helmet, then the only real difference is the size. Otherwise I might as well be wearing a set of Xivkyn armor.

I'm excited for the new outfit system, but I will be disappointed if the outfit system also removes a major functionality of the polymorphs at the same time.

He talks about Hide Helmet and then comes into the polymorh, it a sad way due the new system until they can bring it back.

And no hope not they will charge more for it :)

What in the actual *** zos??

The whole point of a polymorph is to transform into that race/species/thing. A lot of things about this patch annoyed me, but this... Whyyyyyyy? It's such a huge thing about having the polymorphs! I feel sorry for all those who spent countless hours farming either telvar or to complete vma for the Dremora or Xivkyn just to have this now removed. Ugh.

    RIP my immersion

    Thank you for the timestamp.

I find his commentary offensive tbh. "Really not that many." WTF is this? He omits all the Xivkyn polymorphs which require legitimate effort to acquire.

He omits the Maelstrom Baron which requires successful Veteran Maelstrom completion.

And doesnt even bother to explain why apparently, for objective logical reasoning, why this system had to ****ing change in the first place for the outfit system implementation. To them this is just a joke? A joke? Really?

I don't know what everyone else's experience getting the Xivkyn polymorphs was like. I spent about 200k Tel Var on the RNG Imperial Boxes to get two of them and bought the last for around 450K gold on PC/NA.

I still don't have the Maelstrom Baron, since Arena 4 of VMA is still kicking my butt.

I really like those faces. Its great fun to run around wearing my Xivkyn polymorph while I'm fishing in the Imperial City. I'm EP and I once had an EP player jump down and try to kill me while I was fishing :)

    Always focusing on the negative.

This is exactly the kind of thing we needed to happen for them to start looking into more polymorph customization. If integrating polymorphs into Outfits means each one unlocking a covered and uncovered head model and an armor-compatible skin, polymorphs become far more desirable, gives them more value, and the inconvenience will have ultimately been worth it.

There's only 11 in the game so far so it's not a large workload and making this change this year would bode well for adding more in the future.

So I need to lose my present functionality on my polymorphs in hopes that in the unknown future they polymporphs are incorporated into the Outfit system?

Why can't I keep the polymorphs functioning as intended until such time as they are actually incorporated into outfits? I'd rather keep my bird in the hand than let it fly off in hopes of getting your two birds in the bush that aren't actually promised anywhere by ZOS...

Can you? I jumped on the PTS to check out the new wardrobe system, and the hide helmet option seemed like something you had to discover or buy. I couldn't hide my helmet because I didn't own the option, and I almost always have it hidden. It would be cool if you could tell me how to do it, I designed a face so I could have it out. I also have the long beard I bought with crowns, so I would like to show it on my main.

In removing Hide Helmet from the gameplay settings, they've made Outfits the main style interface. Rather than keep two options that could conflict with each other, you lose the old option while they improve the new option.

I've never prescribed to the notion that the promise of less is preferable to the possibility of more. Progress just doesn't work that way. Or put differently, failures lead to success.

You'll get your grumpy ol' Dremora heads back.

So the only way to hide helmet with the outfit system is to pay gold? What next: pay gold to change costumes and appearance items? wth
