Most Optimal skills/sets for Negate spam?

Looking for advice on improving my Magsorc to be able to fill utility roles in 4-12 man groups.

(Can't decide if I should go tank or healer route, or a mix)

I've tried:

5 Shalk/5 Dragon/2 Bloodspawn

-Ulti regen is insane, don't have to be in the front line heroic slashing. Can run siege and build a ton of ulti for a push.
-lacking in all other areas, no dps, no healing, little survivability

5 Reactive/5 Transmutation/2 Pirate Skeleton

-typical healbot set up, works okayish on sorc. Transmutation has minimal effectiveness since you don't have an aoe HoT on sword/shield bar. Super tanky
-I used this with twilight matriarch for *** n giggles. Works really well when pet is up. However with all the lag in cyro when your pet dies, if you don't bar swap and try to disengage from combat, the skill will just spam the summon animation (pet never gets summoned)

I realize there are more optimal playstyles for magsorc, but after rolling as a dps for so long it's nice to have a gear swap even if it is just mainly *** n giggles.

Or if sorcs are boned as either tank or healer, are there any strong support sets I could wear? Ie, duroks bane, ect.

It´s not only Negate Spam. It´s also Overload spam.

Use decisive weapons on your backbar. Heal alot. Use the healing morph of the Negate. One Negate every 40 seconds or so is no problem.

Transmutation is the most important support set - you could throw orbs to solve the set problem, no resto staff needed. You could replace Reactive Armor with Brands of the Imperium for extra support, if you think that you need a tanky armor.

A well played Magsorc can both dps and heal in groups <8 as the Twilight matriarch is the last good fire-and-forget healing skill in the game: surplus Ulti can be used directly for quick kills with your overload bar. The only thing lacking is a good healing ultimate (Barrier is too situational, and Resto staff Ulti is not much better than spamming Twilight healing). Another class (Magplar, Stamplar, Warden) has to step in then - or simply use earthgore.

Cleanse, Matriarch, and Orbs is basically all you need if you have your own mobility buff running.

If you have problems with the matriarch: just equip it on only 2 of your three bars, so it will be unsummoned when switching to your Overload bar.
