Stamina vs Magicka - Lack of balance

I get the frustration of this as I'm a magic player, however we have the benefit of range , sadly what some magic builds lack is the ability to maintain that gap when stamina builds use their gap closers most magica builds are dead except sorcs who have a "I'm out of here" button

I know templars have the whole cleanse thing but if they can get away from the pressure they'll be dead

The only true out balanced play is stamina bow builds they have the advantage of both range and stamina, bow builds need dialing back.

My view on being able to fix this is overhaul the bow skill line entirely but that's a different topic

You know I think about this a lot; and I feel that the range has benefit not just in pvp but in pve there is a reason why many raids limit the Stam dps numbers.

They have very high dps yes but they are legit taking more damage in both sides of the game, thus they are at more risk in pvp and also in pve cost more to keep alive, some need off balance to be effective, others need Stam fed to them, etc. Also - the rotations are more difficult as I understand (not playing a Stan build ever I cannot say for sure) and I think shuffle or whatever is no compare of magicka harness.

So there are trade offs I think to both sides. If any raid leader is that short sighted that they expect mana dps to compare to Stam - well that says more about them.

Did direfrost vet the other day and on the ice Atro boss, I kept the Stam bro buffed and fed the whole time and he did on Stam dk 58000 dps. But he was like a wet paper bag to heal and keep safe. The magicka one had same buffs and orbs and did like 34k, but needed nary a heal.

    That's the difference.

Most fights stam has equal or more survivability due to blade cloak. As mag dd i have to preapply a shield to survive but as stam i already have it in my rotation. Melee does not have more risk in many fight and in some the range dds have actually more risk than the melee(vmol kiters+cursed runners). As stam you can also slot vigor for some fights so you don't completely depend on the healer.(Mag dds have also to slot a shield)

As for pvp it is almost impossible to actually make use of your range since one gap closer and the enemy is already in your face.

Most of the fights that are a pain for stam are just in some dungeons and not in trials.

As for rotation a stam heavy attack rotation is the most easiest and most idiotic meta this game has seen so far. (I am completely bias here since i absolutely hate what morrowind has done with endgame pve)

Right now you go in most raids with as many stam dds as possible since their dps is just so much higher compared to mag dds. You just need the range dd for off balance and mechanics so no space for melee mag dds.

the problem is that you are a mag warden. I have hit 40k with most characters solo but a mag warden is very lacking. The highest I hit was 34k and it was a struggle and not very reliable. Its because you are a warden. melee mag is the only people really being left behind.

If I edited a post, it was for spelling. It is always because of spelling....

A few months ago magicka builds where hitting harder and before that stam was king again.

The issue is more melee vs stamina. It's common in MMORPGs that melee can do more damage than range due to the greater risk they take and if the boss moves their dps drops for a moment.

ESO seems to have never been balanced around such an idea.
