So I just installed the PTS server for the first time.

There were old versions of my characters from like 3 months ago. I understand there’s supposed to be an update today, but I was under the impression that our play server characters were not on the PTS and you’re given a PTS template to work with. How will this actually go down?

Doesn’t it flip flop. For a period of time the US servers have their characters and the EU has to use templates. Then it flips. I don’t pts much since it makes me crying when my stuff poofs, so I’m just babbling because forum stars are life!

This depends on if you are in US Tamriel or EU Tamriel.

First of all US Tamriel travellers may adventure as a copy of themselves in Test Tamriel while the rest of us must use templates.

Then after a few weeks we swap.

But really do not try doing anything until they have updated today perhaps.

When it is set to the US servers, I just delete one of my characters on the PTS and make a new template one if needed. The option for the template is in the top left when you create a character.

Wait you downloaded it.... today?

I have been downloading it for a few days now and its still at 15%.

I am kinda annoyed I have to redownload the game for the pts.

You can just coppy your EU/NA folder and rename it to PTS, than run the launcher and you just have to update the missing files... no need to download the whole thing

If you are playing on NA, yeah than its possible... Since (as far as I know), last time it was NA, EU, NA-Chars... so you still have the chars from the last PTS.
Still anoying that only one megaserver is able to have theyr chars on the PTS... dont know why they dont coppy the chars and just put a Charname_NA or Charname_EU at the end to avoid duplicades..
