While I don't have a problem with seeing mud overlay on my chars, the fact that mud throwing interrupts animations is not that great idea. So I would vote for option to turn off mud animation, but not overlay, or - perhaps like it was meant to be - for mud animation playing only if your character does nothing at this point.
Playing in a non-peak hours due to gmt+10 spared me from being constantly mudded at a dye station during last year festival, but this year me and many others were non-stop mudded by some genius while we were trying to fish at new life festival spots. Basically none of us were able to catch anything due to interrupted fishing animation. Seriously I wouldn't be surprised if that joker had recieved 10+ duel invitations or even reports for harassing that day.

I got hit by a mud ball going into the bank the other day. I started to freak out about how embarrassed I'd be all covered in mud going into the bank, and wondered where I could hide until it wore off - but then in an epiphany I realized that it's just part of the game, and in I strode with my mud-outfit, a smile on my face and spring in my step!

I wonder how many people will realize that is not mud but body waste. Trying to find a more dull way to say it but that seems to be the best way to say it.

Putting all mockery of OP aside, making mudballs active only during New Life Festival is not such a bad idea at all.

I do sort of agree.

Questionable Meat Sack has a 45 second cooldown and that takes a bit of careful placement to troll with.

Mudball cools down in just a few seconds and can follow players through obstacles and around corners in ways that constantly fascinate me. Increasing the cooldown wouldn't change the effect but it would at least weed out the trolls with short attention spans.

It could be a bannable offense. I remember when the Dye Station was first introduced, idiots would spam healing springs and the like to stuff up people's dyeing sessions as the light from these effects played havoc with the colours.

Edit: I think ZOS had to warn people not to do it.

I remember when you could use the lantern on others, the range was so freaking far. Funny thing was I didn't do it to troll others but to inform them of how awesome the light it can provide. It actually worked pretty well since I saw more people try to get it.

It was amusing for the first few months when the mudball was added, as it didn’t seem too harmful to the community. In fact, I’d even add that it was quite beneficial at times (you used to could generate ultimate while being effected by the mudball).

However...

Naturally with most harmless things involving this community, it began being taken advantage of for a more malicious purpose. It began being used as a tool for griefing, as people would mudball players at dye stations. As well as continuously mudballing players for trolling; harassment. Thus we arrive at threads such as these.

One time somebody continuously threw birds at me for a whole 30 seconds straight while I was hiding in a corner. A mudball or 2 every once in awhile is nothing.

OP are u serious? I love the mud thing. You seem to be quite offended by something that might be fun for a lot of ppl. What about live and let live, mind ur own business and don't take thing so personally. I get it that u do not like it, but you cannot impose your opinion on the whole community, especially on something as harmless as this.
