Is Sellistrix The Lamia Queen partially un-tauntable?

After running the veteran Arx Corinium pledge a few times I noticed a trend during the final boss fight. Occasionally the final boss would seemingly drop aggro and start doing claw swipes on the healer or the other DD. Sometimes these claw swipes would kill the healer so I kinda got on the Tank for dropping aggro and I'm trying to figure out if I was in the wrong during this situation. I know the boss will randomly target a party member for her screech attack, I'm not talking about that. What I was seeing was the boss turn and slither towards the healer or DD's and start doing her light attacks. After seeing this weird behavior from the boss happen in a few different PuG runs with different tanks my question is Sellistrix partially untauntable? By that I mean, even if you are spamming taunts, can she still aggro on another party member and do her claw swipes? Because this is what I was observing.

Code wrote a post on exactly what's happening in detail, but tl;dr yes she has weird behavior with taunts and it's not a regular tank-and-spank.

Wow I didn't know overtaunting and taunt shedding was a thing. I mean I've had a couple random dungeon runs that were a mess due to healers or DD ice staff heavies mucking up the tanks aggro but I always thought that was just a matter of taunt stealing.

So as far as Sellistrix goes, is there any way to avoid the taunt shedding? From what I read in the post it sounds like if you make sure your taunt is 3 seconds or less from expiring she won't get overtaunted? Or is she guaranteed to randomly lose aggro and you need to not spam taunt to get it back but rather wait until an invisible timer (no addon) is up?

Now I feel bad for blaming the healers deaths on the poor tank when it wasn't really their fault the boss is being so weird about aggro. I mean to be fair the guy was mostly on his 2hander bar so at least occasionally I think he was legit dropping aggro and there wasn't so much taunt shedding in that case. However I started to get suspicious when in another run I could see a tank spamming Pierce Armor and the boss just swiping away at the healer which led to this inquiry.

There is also the issue of tanks holding her on the ground instead of the water. This places a sheild on her, meaning your dps can't crit on your, vastly lowering your groups dps. This is the best example of a healer centric fight and you will quickly be able to tell who is a real healer or a DPS with breath on their bar.
