Still confused about what we are getting in 2018

In the most recent announcement it seems we will get qualify of life update AND a paying dlc in the same quarter, so...

Besides the chapter and QoL update, are we getting 2 or 3 paying/sub-included dlc?

    QoL update is the base game update, along with a paid DLC.

    It doesn't deter from their planned schedule which was dlc, chapter, dlc (most likely dungeon, story dlc.

    Last year they didn't specify Q1 would be a free only update, they did mention dlc but didn't clarify what type... So this matches.

    It sounds like the Dragon Bones dungeons will come out either 1st or 2nd quarter along with the Base Game Update, whichever comes first. But they wont come at the same time.

    Then the next Chapter late Summer.

    Then the Story DLC in Winter to finish.

    Hi everyone,

    First, apologies for the delay in getting this month’s combat update published. We greatly appreciate the amount of constructive feedback you provided in our first combat update last month, and we plan to continue providing regular updates. With that said, we want to be clear that each month may not be as meaty; it depends on where we are in our development cycle. That doesn’t mean we’re doing less work, but just that we’re in more of a polishing phase rather than working on large changes.

    Since we posted the November update, we’ve been mainly focusing on fixing bugs (some that you’ve seen in recent incremental patches, but most of are still internal and for Update 17) and doing some work for Update 18, which we aren’t quite ready to discuss yet. We’re still moving full steam ahead with the synergy improvements we talked about last month, which you’ll see when Update 17 hits the PTS. We’re also continuing to work on improving interrupt, including adding a short cooldown to any interrupted ability. We noticed some confusion when we first mentioned this change, so we’d like to clarify: the reasoning behind this change is to add more strategic play when you interrupt another player’s ability, and in turn give players using abilities with a cast time an opportunity to use them against other players who repeatedly use interrupts.

    Another thing you’ll see when Update 17 goes to the PTS is a reduction in damage for some charge abilities. Decreasing their damage is going to ensure that at-range players who are utilizing movement and terrain to maintain their distance from melee enemies are better rewarded for that tactical advantage.

    Last month, we mentioned that we were looking at shortening the Heavy Attack cooldown, but ultimately decided not to go with this change to avoid making too many dramatic changes at once.

    We’re also beginning to look at ways to improve group combat in Cyrodiil, particularly when groups of varying sizes fight each other. Some specific concerns we’ve been looking into include:
    • Not enough effective options to deal damage to clustered groups from afar
    • Earthgore is too powerful in group vs group battles
    • Not enough diversity in Ultimate choice
    • Large groups can have players take on specialized utility roles, reducing counter-play options against them
    We’re still talking about what exactly we’ll be doing, but once we have a better idea of the direction we’re taking, we’ll include it in one of the next combat updates.

    Finally, once Update 17 is available on the PTS, you’ll notice that not many class abilities have changed. We’ve instead focused our efforts on the things we previously talked to you about, including:
    • Synergy improvements
    • Updates to cast time and channeled abilities
    • Block cost changes
    • Improvements to off-balance and Heavy Attacks

    We look forward to having everyone try these changes on the PTS for Update 17. Again, please remember what’s listed here isn’t everything the team is working on. Keep the feedback coming, and thanks for your continued input!

    I am hoping for Q1: free QoL update with transmorg and housing storage and the payed dungeon DLC,
    Q2: payed content DLC with new area,
    Q3 payed (also for ESO+) Chapter like morrowind (hopefully not as expensive as morrowind if the same amount of content, then I will again wait for the discount),
    Q4 payed Content DLC with new area.

    I am expecting Q1: QoL update. Q2 dungeon DLC, Q3: Chapter like morrowind, Q4 Content DLC with new area.
    Or 2 dungeon dlc's instead of 2 content ones. Which for me would mean a long time for new content if the new chapter is initially the same price as morrowind and I will wait it out and I don't do dungeons enough to justify buying those.

    besides this, we can all be looking forward to transmod - you just need to collect 5000 of these crystals to change 1 item but don't worry, you'll receive one per vet dungeon

    Agree on the story DLC's being the thing i look most forward to. Though a chapter for me counts as such, just a bigger more expensive one as i will buy them all outright likely if the price is right.

    I sure hope transmorg will have nothing what so ever to do with dungeons, vet or otherwise (or crown store but that's another discussion). We already have trait change for that. And where trait change and perfect gear is arguably most important to vet and trail runners, and thus logical the trait gems come from that... transmorg should be easily reachable for everyone as cosmetics are for everyone. Non trail and vet runners might be even more into it as they could be their endgame... looking absolutely fabulous everyday on a bezillion alts (hyperbole to get the point across ;) ).

    We'll officially announce the first DLC of 2018 just after the first of the year, but here's a small preview: It's a dungeon-based DLC called The Elder Scrolls Online: Dragon Bones. As the name implies, it is Nord-based in theme, with each of the two dungeons expanding upon the lore of that region.

    Coming with Dragon Bones is an update full of quality-of-life improvements and additions, including at least one long-awaited feature that everyone who cares about their characters' appearance will love and the Homestead storage items I talked about earlier. We'll give you more details on this update when it launches on the PTS early (very early) next year.

    So Dragon Bones and the QoL update in Q1, so I'd expect it to stick to the schedule they announced earlier this year, with Q2 being the chapter, Q3 another dungeon DLC (of course the first quote could just mean two dungeons but I read it as two dungeon contents - two packs) and Q4 a new zone.

    not excited, but dreading for 2018, we see more nerfs, more UI clutters that we dont need, and more cash baits....

    that not what we (players) want. many had waited for months telling the devs to change auction format, and they still not listening, and we get frustrated days after days, not seeing light at the end of tunnel.
    problem with big guilds, they control auction and more little guilds get pushed out of existance since they no longer able to sell and they cant do anything
    in my words, Devs are killing smaller guilds, and favoring biggest guilds with limited auction vendors, do away with those and allow more universal auction, if they cant do it due to low grade tech they use, no wonder why it lag and they are outdated by almost 2 decades.

    hey devs do we have to wait 5 more years to see it get upgraded? or never???

    just my opinion, i assumed larges guilds who controls auction are run by bots scripters that made vast amount of spendable golds to keep vendor weeks after weeks with no signs of being upstaged by lucky bidder, but they dont last since those got outbid with come back with larger cash pool and to maintain every week.

    well yes, quality of life upgrade is sometimes included in the paid dlc, or better to say, quality of life upgrades are always for free - included in the free base game patch

    Q1 is clear: Nord themed dungeon dlc "Dragon Bones"

    then (not sure by the order)
    then other quarted a chapter (not included in eso +)
    then a new zone another quarter

    I hope they don't rely too heavily on adding dungeon content, one such DLC per annum is fine, but no more than that unless they're including fully scaled dungeons from solo through duo to full group content. I can see how dungeons are much simpler, quicker and cheaper to implement than a quest-based land mass but they don't appeal to everyone and the DLCs should be varied to cater for different player preferences.

    You're right, not everything has to be the way it was, but at the same time it was only this year that they announced that the cadence from now on will be DLC - Chapter - DLC - DLC and there's no reason to expect that they've changed that already, especially as what we already know about Q1 matches that
