If you're actually willing to pay 800 crowns for a hat...

Coming to a crown store near you...

Pleated denim skirt, red snakeskin boots and a red and white checkered blouse that ties in the front.

Is no one else even a little bothered that cowboy hats are in Tamriel at all? Suspension of disbelief is rapidly dwindling with all the weird get-ups running around these days.

The game's lore has always been a little off for the sake of MMO conventions, but now it's just plain for sale.

They aren't cowboy hats. They are cavalier hats like the Three Musketeers wear. They curl up on one side or the other depending on whether you use a pike (right shoulder, brim curls up to clear the haft) or musket (fired from right side, right brim is the side down so you dip it to block the flash of powder). I have a few from my 17th century reenacting days.

They fit in fine with the 16th/17th century style costumes.

Yeah, okay. That's mildly better. Though it still serves my point further seeing as how the MUSKETeers were, as you mentioned, firmly in an era of gunpowder use which is only barely touched on in Redguard where there is a mention of cannons. The hat hearkens to a time period we are familiar with that isn't supposed to be represented in TES lore. Not in my opinion, anyway.

All of this is neither here nor there though seeing as how they've already blown the door wide open with insane mounts and pets that are not grounded in TES reality at all. So, here we are back at "mmo conventions."

I'm still waiting on a unique crown store armor costume pack for every race in the game.

It's like Macy's up in there right now; I feel like I'm buying a suit for my wedding instead of gearing up to fight undead!

Looks like most issues with costume items are with the female meshes. I don't have that forehead problem on my male Nord while wearing the hat.

They're actually ultra rare ancient relics left over from before the nukes dropped in 10/23/2077.

Well, there are a few fan theories out there that say the Fallout universe and TES universe are connected.

Unrelated to the thread, but these theories are absolutely baseless considering the presence of Divines and Daedra.

Crown store item comes with a free frontal lobotomy.

Actually the true frontal lobotomy is not to purchase crown store items, get what you like and what you can afford. The true lobotomy is to purchase the chance of maybe getting an item by purchasing loads of crown crates :-)

You can consider the crown store as a gateway drug to crown crates.
    • It used to be that everything you wanted in game could be achieved by actually playing the game.
    • If you put in enough time, you could get whatever you wanted.
    • If you were subscribed, you could get things faster. Instant gratification.
    • Then came crown store exclusives.
    • Your time is no good here, money only.
    • Then came crown crate exclusives.
    • Now even your money is no good. You have to gamble for a CHANCE at getting what you want

So yes essentially players were slowly lobotomized to put up with a more and more costly barrier to acquire virtual goods.

I didn't noticed this on my char when I previewed them :/

Sad part is I'd have bought them, if they were plain hats with no adornments... those look plain ridiculous to me and in turn make the them not worth the cost. Man, I'd love to have some nice plain hats.

New hats are also incompatible with some of the new hairstyles...

    aOEPyWF.png

Alpha channels of either hat or hair terxtures are mixed up. Whoever does texture work is clearly not doing it right - these hats, not fully dyeable outfits, texture bugs on witch robe (black wrists problem still exist), mixed color channels on nord outfits (like RGB channels on dye map overlap, hence gray parts if you choose different colors for all slots), etc, and often these are things not always catchable during preview. Do they even fix crown store items bugs? Like, ever? =/

This is what I was thinking. The crown store items, most of which seem to be recolors/retextures seem like they are being worked on by an intern. I am starting to doubt ESO even has a full time dev team working on the game. I play a game that is being made by 4 people that have massive updates every few months with updates every month. I mean the work being performed by them far out weights what I see being done here, so that makes me seriously question how many work on ESO.

I actually saw several people wearing fedoras when I went to see The Last Jedi. So it's plausible, I guess.

HAHAHA you have to be kidding... Clockwork is an amazing expansion that just came out. The Haloween event was fun and full of great costumes, we got a nice free mount, then Orsinium event was great fun killing world bosses with cool rewards. Now this current event has brought me the bathing outfit that I love and some cool hats.

People are saying they want MORE of this style hat without the winter stuff on them in the game, ones enjoying the game.

NO game with a tiny team is putting out better content than this game this year, no AAA MMORPG game beat this game this year. Which games are you talking about?

There is no such thing as free crowns. Unless you won them via a competition (which means I retract this statement), I can't fathom out where one would get 800 crowns for free.

The crowns came from that email for ps4/xbox players who were having issues with loading screens. Some of us (not all from what I hear...) got free crowns. Clipping is normally a huge thing for me, I hate it, but these hats don't bother me at all. I like them. Personal opinion I guess.

Well, I must admit that I was really sceptical at first. Just for fun I tried the hats with my nordborn Bosmer in the preview option in the Crownstore and it wasn't too bad. He doesn't have the same problem with them as eklhaftb16_ESO, and he doesn't suffer from hairloss when he puts them on, so...

    lynizdtojxb8.png

Normally he is a quite serious guy.... o:)

I think the hat will be part of his festival guise every once in a while - apart from that I think that they don't really fit into the world of Tamriel. But as a part of a costume for a festival like the New Life or Jester - that's okay for me.

It also has some clipping issues. This is it on my Bosmer - despite her full ear showing under the hat when you look at it from the side - the top of her ear clips through the brim from the front. Caveat emptor

I imagine two of my toons wearing this kind of hat, so I was considering buying them.
But as the OP said: it's Radagast the Brown stuff here. So it's a NO :|

I'll reconsider if they release an other version with no decoration - or a feather instead of a whole forest on your head.

And if they de-bug that !

    - Edit : since there's a crown sale, I finally bought the hats, but this bug have to be adressed anyway -
