If you're actually willing to pay 800 crowns for a hat...

...I suppose you DO deserve to have your forehead sloped like a caveman. But still... is there a quality control person in the house?

nKonJ7g.jpg

ALL THREE hats have some hat-hair that clip through your brow. In two cases, the clip is minor, almost invisible (right). Third case though, the "Winter Corsage Broadbrim", causes outright disfigurement of your character's head (left) by sloping your forehead and pushing your hair straight through your brow. Incidentally, it's also the only one that's actually wearable all year long without making you look like Radagast the Brown. I almost bought it, dammit!

In completely unrelated news, "Radius Rebreather" bites the back of your head off whenever you crouch while wearing it.

Like, folks, seriously? How is it possible that stuff like this gets passed all the way to live, with a price tag slapped onto it? Someone got paid to model this, someone else got paid to approve it for live, yet nobody ever recognized it as a steaming heap of glitchy guar refuse? Aren't you the least bit ashamed to ask money for such low quality of workmanship? Do you really release so much content every month that nobody has time to sit down and test-wear it before putting a price on it?

Interestingly enough, the Stahlrim motif was only 2000 Crown.... I was expecting 5000... so for once ZOS was reasonable on some pricing.

I guess you didn't know that the Stahlrim motif was a ripoff compared to the Grim Harlequin when it was first released? Majority of players complained about the Stalhrim only came with a measly 5 mimic stones and there was no way to get the style stones.

I bought these hats with free crowns...and I LOVE THEM. I wear a fedora constantly when I'm out and about and at work, and these cowboy hats looks fabulous on my characters. I would of loved the option to buy one though as I actually prefer one over the others. But yes they are pricey, If I did not have those free crowns I would of not bought them.

Actually the true frontal lobotomy is not to purchase crown store items, get what you like and what you can afford. The true lobotomy is to purchase the chance of maybe getting an item by purchasing loads of crown crates :-)

There is no such thing as free crowns. Unless you won them via a competition (which means I retract this statement), I can't fathom out where one would get 800 crowns for free.

It depends on point of view - personally I pay for a sub for the crafting bag, bank, and housing item slots, so I do tend to view the crowns I get with sub as "free". If I didn't want to pay for that other stuff every month, I would simply buy crowns instead. :D

No depending about it. By the same token, I could say I only pay for PSN+ for the games, so the online part is completely free. That isn't true. Just like you wouldn't get those crowns if you didn't pay some sort of fee. After all, free is free, no cash or payment involved in any capacity.

Thats not how games or content is funded. The money spent on items and content is not automatically put back into development resources. The absolute vast majority of any money made by ZOS either goes back to their investors or into the companies coffers. From the companys coffers comes a pre-determined amount that can be spent on things for the company. This is everything from toilet paper to the companys electric bill, from cost of renting the building if they dont own it to the paychecks of their employees. A certain part of that budget goes into the development of new items to be introduced into the Crown Store or Crown Crates.

But once that money is in ZOS possession. Its not automatically put into development for new things for you to play with or buy. Ultimately fractions of pennys spent by you is likely allocated at some point to the games future development. Far from the reality that you believe in where the whales are fully funding new Chapters and mounts.

Is no one else even a little bothered that cowboy hats are in Tamriel at all? Suspension of disbelief is rapidly dwindling with all the weird get-ups running around these days.

The game's lore has always been a little off for the sake of MMO conventions, but now it's just plain for sale.

Some costumes are just plain crazy (wouldn't wear it even for a costume party or something lol)... but, like you said, it's for the sake of MMO conventions...and, as I suspect, what looks trendy so will likely find customers...
