Shadow Barrier and Frost Staff, ZOS!

Two fixes involving Tanks.

First, the duration of Shadow Barrier (2/2) is very short, if we compare with other class buffs. I'm talking about the Nightblade source of Major Resolve and Major Ward!

So, here is my suggestion:

Nightblade (Shadow skill line)
  • Shadow Barrier (Passive): Activating a Shadow ability grants you Major Ward and Major Resolve, increasing Spell Resistance and Physical Resistance by 5280 for 3/6 seconds. This duration is increased by 3 seconds for each piece of Heavy Armor equipped.

Second, Frost Staff.

There you go:

Destruction Staff
  • Tri Focus (Passive): Fully-charged Frost Heavy Attack taunt the enemy to attack you for 15 seconds and grant a damage shield that absorbs 805 damage.
    While a Frost Staff is equipped, blocking cost Magicka instead of Stamina.
  • Tri Focus (Passive): Fully-charged Frost Heavy Attack afflicts enemy with Major Fracture, Major Breach and Minor Maim, reducing Physical Resistance and Spell Resistance, and reducing their damage done for 15 seconds.
    While a Frost Staff is equipped, blocking cost Magicka instead of Stamina, and your Physical and Spell Resistance is increased by 2640.
  • Ancient Knowledge (Passive): With Destruction Staff ability equipped... Frost Staff reduces the cost of blocking by 15/30% and increases the amount of damage you block by 10/20%.
  • Ancient Knowledge (Passive): With Destruction Staff ability equipped... Frost Staff reduces the cost of blocking by 15/30% and increases the amount of damage you block by 15/30%. You also gain Minor Heroism, granting you extra Ultimate every 1.5 seconds.

Then that's it!

    While I'm fine with adding the extra resistances to Tri Focus, I'm not so sure about the Major Fracture, Breech and Minor Maim to fully charged heavy attacks, or the permanent Minor Heroism.

    Maybe change Destructive Touch (Frost Touch) to taunt and apply Major Fracture, Wall of Elements (Wall of Frost), to apply Minor Maim and Weakness to Elements (with an ice staff equipped) to apply Minor Heroism on the caster and passively work like Defensive Posture.

    First of all NOOOOOOOOO. That is just too easy access for very strong buffs, now I know heavy attacking is very slow and that Ice Staff needs a buff but this is way to much. Heavy attack speed is what needs to be changed the most.

    Second, the duration of Shadow barrier is not increased like that anymore, its 25% extra duration per heavy armor piece, which would make a 7 heavy set up give 175% extra duration. 6s*2.75=16.5 that is not that bad of a duration. Its not even the lowest duration on Major Ward and Resolve there is, that's Hurricane.

    Nope...I want my taunt with frost staff. Inner fire is WAY too expensive for a Stam tank to use. I like using frost staff heavy as a ranged taunt AND to regain magica.

    in 7 Heavy my Shadow Barrier buff lasts for 16 seconds,
    my Refreshing Path lasts for 11.5 seconds
    at no point in a trash pull or boss fight is my Major Resolve and Major Ward not active
    on what basis do you propose the need for an 11 second increase above that
    making the duration longer than any other class?

    My Templar's Channeled Focus lasts for 18 seconds
    but leaving the circle results in a reduction to 8 seconds of duration

    Shadow Barrier is fine as it is.

    The frost staff tanking is supposed to be different from sword and board tanking. Your changes to tri-focus are making it more like sword and board. I agree it needs a buff but I think a better idea would be to change it to frost staff heavy attacks are faster and provide a spell resistance debuff set amount (i.e. it could stack spell resistance debuff with someone applying major/minor breach) and keep the current shield with the taunt. This to me would feel more like a Mag staff tank set up and gives a advantage to Frost staff tanking if tanking with magic DPS.

    Unnecessary buff re heroism.

    for PvE this sounds good, for PvP this is worrysome. But yes please buff Shadow barrier

    So where per say would you get your taunt from? Dont say the undaunted ability, because the sword and board one you get as your first ability, so it would need to be in lin with that.

    so you want it to be a plain copy of sword and shield? thanks but no thanks, i have both a frost staff tank, and a sword/shield tank and i love frost staff much more

    yes, take away one of the only ranged taunts in the game, just what tanks need. Its true that the ice staff heavy is not always optimal, but it is free, and restores rss vs inner fire, it has its place, would much rather have the taunt+shield than another source of major fracture and breach, which pierce armor gives me. If I am using the ice staff taunt, I am not worried about debeffing just yet, I am worried about grabbing aggro at range, once I get them close I will just pierce armor them anyway, the same as I would with inner fire.

    here is the idea for the frost staffs heavy attack

    instead of shooting a a ball how about ground AOE ?

    something like this ? like it dose a cone of floor ice and adds that step in it are not just slowed down but also taunted
