I guess 90% of the people who voted "no" are people in a good trading guild that are happy and willing to grind mats or other things every day/week/month to meet the requirements needed to just have the right to sell in their guild...
What I know so far is that many players, and all of my friends, decided to quit eso because they had no chance to sell anything without having a guild. I find it stupid that if I play, for example, a month, and in that month I drop something valuable, I MUST be in a guild to sell that thing easily, just to be kicked a couple of weeks later because I'm not playing anymore at that time.. By now, the market is in the hands of few guilds, few players.. All the others can spam WTS in chat. Sorry for my english but I think you know what I mean. Oh, and just to answer to people saying that having an auction house would kill the market because prices would just drop very quick: price of things like motifs, are dropping down veeeery quick anyway, take Morag Tong motif, it's just an example, the drop rate is ridiculous, maybe 2/3 motifs in a month, doing all the dailies every day.. The price of this motif should be at least 70/80k each for the stupid rarity it has, but you can find players selling it for 15/20k or even less, so what are you talking about? I don't think an auction house would be so horrible but we will never see one in eso.

Several people in a social guild I am in are members of a trading guild that always has a spot in Rawl'kha. The guilds only requirement is that you remain active in the guild.

Wow, seriously? You guys are using Facebook as an excuse to hate the guild traders now?

If you have to go through Facebook to sell stuff in ESO, you're doing it wrong.

on xbox, yes alot of people use facebook, almost every trader in all of eso is owned by one of the larger trading guild associations, if your not in one of the guilds (5k minimum dues for the vast majority of them) then your best bet is a trader in the middle of nowhere, even then, if theirs no dues, your likely to only get a trader every few weeks.

Actually there isn't, there are only addons that helps with setting (some might say fixing) prices. Even if there was, it would only be accessible by a third of the playerbase and then only those prepared to run addons that have a reputation for impacting performance (which is why a lot of traders turn their trading addons off when entering Cyrodiil), and something as central to the core functions of a MMORPG as the trading system ought to be fully workable for all players within the base game.

Multiple guilds and guild traders is what annoyed me most in eso.

No global auctionhouse + strong guilds have a monopoly on the best traders. No chance to outbid them. I think global auctionhouse would give everyone a chance to sell their stuff. Now selling is limited for the members of biggest guilds who are usually full at that point. The only people who defend this probably are in one of these guilds.

Multiple guilds - ad a result no one knows anyone in guilds. No one cares. There is no attachment at all. People only join to be able to use the trader. If guild trader is gone, people leave guild.

This is SO wrong in so many ways...
3 of my 5 guilds have a trader.
2 of the 3 have been here, (PC/NA), since April 2014 launch
1 of 3 is my Social guild whom keeps a trader in Orsinium for guildies
0 of 3 require a fee or requirements.

I have made dozens of new friends, some whom I keep in contact outside of game. All 5 of my guilds have members who are like family. Most of my guildies I have known for over 2 1/2 years.
To say no one knows anyone else or that no one cares in guilds must mean you have never had a good guild.
NOT ALL GUILDS ARE THE SAME! G.M.'s ARE NOT BILLIONAIRE MAFIA TYPES WANTING TO RIP YOU OFF NOR DO THEY TAKE YOUR GOLD!

My previous experience with MMOs is meager so I have little to compare it to, but I'm content with the current setup. I would prefer improvements in the form of implementing the Awesome Guild Store and MM functionality as base game features so the people on console can make use of them, I don't see a need to revamp the entire system just because other MMOs do it differently. On the contrary, put that effort towards more new content instead! Don't fix what isn't broken.

In the past I've said "No" to this question. I believe in what ZoS was trying to accomplish with the guild trader system...BUT...

...They have FAILED in it's implementation. The concept of the guild trader system was to compartmentalize the market and make it difficult to impossible for guilds to monopolize and control the market. It worked for a time, years in fact, but now that is not the case. It is clear there is a cabal of trader guilds that control the main hubs, set prices and manipulate the bidding system to ensure they keep their kiosk locations.

If I, as a player, have to deal with a manipulated market then I'd rather just have access to a global system for my own convenience.

Guild houses are ok but players who are trying to sell things that they craft or extra loot items not needed are limited only by selling within the allowed 5 guilds each player can join. I for one wish and would like to sell my items to any many others as possible and just can't do that in this game.

Actually the current system now is the easiest setup I have ever seen to corner the entire in game market, all someone needs to do is make an alliance of rich guilds and buy up every stall in the game so that no one else can sell anything for that week or multiple weeks. Also all the prime spots are mostly taken by guilds that have more than 2 traders as well.

This trade system is dominated by bots but ZoS seems be doing nothing about it, the material market is insane for the sales some people have, in some guilds people make over 10 million just in materials alone every week, I doubt they're sitting at the computer manually gathering those materials.

They won't add one - both for reasons of being obstinate about 'being different' and because doing so would be a technical challenge (they can't even put a functional search on the current highly limited stores).

As far as the nay sayers - an AH that is open and unrestricted (e.g. no slot limit) is far less open to manipulation than what we have today, with the only potential caveat being on those few and far between ultra rare items.

As for traders, they are limited but functional.

My biggest dislike on the sell side is being limited to 30 slots per guild, and thus needing find and join multiple guilds to list more than 30 items.

My biggest dislike on the buy side is the distributed nature of stores (spending a bunch of times watching loading screen and my horse run is not engaging) combined with the lack of a search function (no ability to search by text / keyword - reallY?).

So even if they never add an AH type global marketplace, they could really improve my view of the market in ESO by upping the listing limit, adding a search function, and for extra brownie points, add a global search NPC.

Right. It's far harder to take over a single AH where they have to....um....well....actually it just removes the whole part about "organize a gigantic consortium of hundreds of different guilds and outbid everyone else in the game for every single guild trader in Tamriel".

But at least they couldn't easily just buy out all their competition because with an AH they'd all be in one..... Hm. That, kinda doesn't work either.

Oh, but then we'd be just like all the other MMOs out there who all have the exact same problems as each other.... Dang it!
