Any chance for skillbase gameplay?

Do u actually think that there is any chance that we will get some more skillbased experience in gameplay? I am not playing since Homestead, I gave up on the game. Point is, I would love to go back but the state of the game is atrocious. I know that Zeni has ability to reapair what was once broken, like when the burst and lag was so bad in 1.6. Imperial City patch evened out state of all classes and reduced the lag significantly. Can't u fix the game like that again? Or just give us 2.1-2.2 state server at least.

You post is kind of all over the place...You want more skill based gameplay experience? What do you mean by that and what does it have to do with going to a new server? Game mechanics and server issues are two different things with very difference solutions. What about the game is atrocious?

No. Players who lack skill have money too and need to be kept around to spend, not put off by skill based game.

    That's absurd!

    You're a fool!

You can't press buttons at random and expect everything to go well.

Do what I do: I press them in order, the same order, every time.

    It's called a skill rotation

Since I'm on PC I press 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5 then heavy attack left click, then bar swap; rinse and repeat.

Other than OP seeming to state he was unhappy with how his character was performing since Homestead, he has not really stated what his issue is.

The comment of skill based play is highly subjective. I would better understand if he had said when Morrwind came out and the loss of sustain brought about heavy attack builds, but not so much with Homestead.

If you believe things were balanced (or at least more than now) when imperial city came out you either:

    a) suffered a head injury and forgot how it really was.

    or

    b) didn't actually play then.

Understand that the idea of balance in an MMO is a player made idea. It cannot and never will happen. Kinda like the idea of "perfect." We can strive for perfection but in reality perfection is impossible.

ZOS strives to balance classes, but it's impossible.

The most balanced game I've ever played was Ultima Online. You had X amount of points to spend and every skill was available to you. How you mix and match was up to you.

You want a balanced multiplayer game? Try this! Grab a friend, get a fighting game like mortal kombat, pick the exact same characters with the exact same setups and go to town.

    You're welcome :)

Most of the mattesr I am talking about concerns PVP.
It was common to play wep/spell dmg and high recovery at that time, besides people almost didn't play heavy armor and had around 20k health. It was skillbased becasue u had to react more than just tank damage. Reflect this, cloak that. I am aware that some classes were stronger, but still every single class could be played effectively. I play my stam DK is works and put similar stuff on Stam Templar and I am still bursty and I can 1vX the same. Duels had the point before they become game mechanic. Now? Some classes are hardly playable in Cyrodill. Mag blade for example, u just can't get out of the fight like u could. No matter how good u are, decent players (always in groups nowadays) will at some point take u down.

No. Players who lack skill have money too and need to be kept around to spend, not put off by skill based game.

Yet, skyrim sold more than this game and is more successful and the game is more difficult even at the super easy difficulty. The game doesnt need to be Legendary difficulty, but adept at the very least.

It just seems like zos doesnt care. They were bit by the crate bug and that is all they really focus on now.
    • Fix cyro lag ? No. Blame players instead.
    • Fix Group finder ? No. Blame peak times instead
    • Make overland content what it was before morrowind? Nope. Gotta have it so easy bad breath can kill enemies.
    • Meaningful changes to treasure maps? Why should we? Just buy stuff from the store.
    • UI improvements for base game so console players get a more user friendly experience ? Who cares, Lets dump all the responsibility on the modders and hope one day console players can use them too.

There just comes a point when you realize that profit trumps gameplay at this point for them. Instead of focusing on the two simultaneously, they seem to have far and few between people in the QA dept and bug fiing dept and a hoard of crown store devs.

Right, going to make myself unpopular but this is probably the main thing I absolutely detest about how you are supposed to play this game. The necessity to get your skill rotation so freaking perfect that it makes no difference to what you fight. Dull. Dull dull dull dull. And the idea that I should spend precious game time practicing this rotation - I have a bloody job, I play this to have fun!

I much prefer the slightly panicked mashing of buttons, (as due to playing numerous alts i forget which skills are where), combined with the frustration that the weapon swap doesn't work half the time, with the pleasant surprise when I kill hard bosses. Keeps the game fresh!

Lol - apologies for taking you seriously!

Thing is, this is what I have read / been told to do for end game stuff - must practice your rotations! This then this then this etc. But when I try it just ends up a sad mess and I die. Obviously I don't practice enough.....(feels like I am back at my piano lessons when 9 yrs old)

But I am a queen of button mashing - best and most 'interesting' way play......!

Ha he was being super sarcastic with that post.

I think the point is that MMOs aren't naturally designed for skill based combat. its about rotations, patterns, knowleadge and grinding.

ESO does a good job at pretending to be more of an action game but its still an MMO at heart.

A lot of the anger at the morrowind resource nerfs was it really damaged the action part of the game and forced people back into the MMO box that not everyone is comfortable in.

My opinion is it was way way too much of a nerf. The skill based resource return mechanics need to stay but I was okay with the CP and armor based resource return changes. But I am a MagDK DPS player so you can see why I have that opinion.

All of this has little to do with skills. This is just repeating a pattern.

Not to mention if you do that without veering from the pattern you are not a good player xD.

A plain old difficulty setting would be nice. It puts you into harder instances. A simple easy - normal - hard would be enough. Hard gives you, for example, group dungeon sized mobs in overland areas. Enemies could have better weapons and armor, use their special skills and heavy attacks more often. Stuff like that. Upgrade the drops and loot as well, of course.

I guess the question is which particular "skills" the OP would like the game to be based on. MMO skills, action game skills, strategy game skills, FPS skills, platformer skills, PvP pick-the-right-counterplay skills..... o:)

Frankly, people who seriously think that repeating a rotation on a trial boss that has mechanics is the same thing as repeating a rotation on a target dummy... They just make me laugh! Therefore when I hear the argument of "Its boring!" or "It makes the game stale!", its just not credible at all, since trying to replicate a rotation on a trial boss is much harder than just "buttom mashing", especially if during your rotation you have some bar swap lag or something.

Every time I see threads like this I wish for public character achievements, because it gives credibility to those who have owned a MMO and ask about legitimate concerns in difficulty..

Perhaps we will get that at some point.
