Weapon Degradation Over Time

Hi

My weapons seem to lose performance over time: for instance a staff with damage 1108 + 2238 Fire dropped to 1020 + 1784 Fire - even though I repaired and recharged it. I've seen this happen repeatedly. What causes this, and how do I prevent it?

Thanks ...

It's likely the battle-scaling taking place. The higher level you are over your gear, the less effective it is.

    What level are you?

Sorry if this next bit is patronising and doesn't apply, but you are new to the forums so I don't know how new you are to the game, and this is the most obvious explanation.

In eso everyone gets scaled up to cp level 160, so that everyone can do all content regardless of their actual level. Your gear gets scaled up with you, but only if your gear is your level. When your gear is lower level than you are it gets less of a bonus, so weapon and armor stats drop every time you level up. Gear that is your level will have better stats, the more you out level your gear the worse it gets.

Once you get to CR160, your gear will stop degrading like this. Also, if you pass it to lower level alts, it'll have its original stats.

A lot of players, leveling alts, won't even bother. They'll get gear around level 20, and just ride that to 50, and switch over into permanent 160 gear. But, if this is your first time leveling, then it'll take awhile. Just keep grabbing better gear as you find it, and don't worry about having the right items until you hit the gear cap.

Also, don't worry about the large numbers, like CR160, you'll get to that fairly quickly once you hit level 50.

I think you just discovered why a lot of DPS is doing 2k DPS in dungeons. They're level 40+ but still have level 10 gear equip.
