Cannot log into game, won't let me update. I get error code NP-31740-5

My husband logged in on his PS4 without difficulty. Mine keeps saying I can update now or later, but no matter which I choose, it tries to reboot the game and won't let me play if I say later, that I need the patch to play. My husband couldn't sign in on my machine, either, without the same error.
