I’d like to test out some skooma in-game. I have a feeling it’d be 1 memorable experience for sure. Lol.

As for trying some in the real world, not at all. I wouldn’t go near it. I don’t fool around with narcotics, and or drugs that aren’t prescribed to me by a licensed doctor. I’ve seen way too many individuals get caught-up and “zombified” fooling around with drugs recreationally. And honestly, life is too precious to be wasted on something like drugs.

Skooma is a hallucinatory narcotic refined from moon sugar.[1] Extremely addictive, its victims are left in constant, alternating states of delusional euphoria and lethargy.[2] Sustained use of the drug seemingly results in permanent confusion and mental deterioration.[3]

Skooma withdrawal can have mental effects with violent consequences.

Because when you're uncertain about something and a LOT of people are lookin at you like you're weird and practically forcing it down your throat to just try it, the best option is to just stay away. Peer pressure is hazardous, EVERYTHING in life should be a personal choice.

Not to mention many people would prefer not to set a leaf on fire then breathe in the smoke in order to get effed up in the mind for a while.

There are ways to consume cannabis that do not involve smoking, similar to Skooma (totes on topic, really)

Was prescribed cannabis a number of years ago for treatment of chronic pain,
vaporization is a solid option, but eaten is preferable in treatment of pain particularly
compared to things like opiates it is less concerning, the fentanyl epidemic in my country (Canada) terrifies me
but we have a Nationally-run medical cannabis program; and July 2018 the government is implementing nation-wide recreational use
not personally going to advise cannabis use for anyone tho, is not really my business

    more on-topic:
It is a bit of a toss-up what exactly Skooma is supposed to run parallel to in the real world,
it has been portrayed differently throughout the series
but think it may be intended to be a cocaine mimic, which does not actually appeal to me much
but given the traditional use of Moon Sugar (reflective of traditional use of coca leaves) vs. refinement into Skooma would cause me to think that

Hist Sap and the Argonian culture seems to be kind of a reflection of Ayahuasca use in Amazonian cultures
where it is believed that the Ayahuasca actually lead people to it and taught them how to prepare and consume it safely to receive spiritual visions
and that the plants 'speak' to people

I'm all for Medical use if it's a more "legit" method other than smoking it. I know what that kind of pain is like, being a Cancer Survivor myself, though I never opted for it cause I'm too paranoid of addictive substances. Also that fentanyl problem is leaking down into the States as well.

Actually the Dark Elves start getting Khajiit hooked on skooma. Khajiit historically have used Moon sugar in their foods and for medicine. IT wasn't until those dirty elves started producing the stuff that khajiit got hooked.

I see no harm in trying it once. Just to know. Reminds me of a quote.
"Why is it that people think it is so evil? What is it about it that scares people so deeply? Because they're afraid that theres more to reality than they have ever confronted. That there are doors that they're afraid to go in, and they don't want us to go in there either. Because if we go in there, we might learn something that they don't know, and that makes us a little out of their control."

IRL it would depend on the nature of skooma addiction as well as the most frequent side effects.

If skooma addiction is primarily physiological, as with, for example, opiates, then it is to be avoided at all costs except in the most extraordinary of circumstances. [This is partly why the British press has been having a field day of late depicting US medicine as borderline barbaric for prescribing truly record quantities of opiates to patients. Though they usually have a field day writing about any economic or social problems in the US. Must be some sort of a post-colonial complex.]

On the other hand, if skooma addiction is primarily psychological, then perhaps there may be something in the experience. Provided the most commonly associated side effects are tolerable - i.e. a modest hangover and, I don't know, one's ears turning blue for a few days, can be dealt with; hair and teeth falling out, on the other hand, I'd much rather not experience.

Based on what (little) I know of skooma from the game, my attitude IRL would be extreme caution paired with considerable medical research beforehand as per above. TLDR - probably not.

In-game - really, there are already all sorts of alcoholic beverages, and I believe there is some modicum of interaction with skooma dealers or manufacturers (certainly in AD). So for RP reasons - sure, to the extent it does not interfere with regular food consumption pre-dungeon runs or what have you.

It's sort of the point of MMOs - no IRL consequences to the player, hence you can act out whatever fantasy you wish within the bounds of the user agreement.

    IRL, absolutely not.

In-game, probably not on my main character, especially if it were any kind of morality-based choice or I/she had reasons to believe that there would be undesirable consequences. But I'd probably try it on an alt just to see what would happen.
