Magicka DK - basic skill layout needed

    Just curious why not inner light? Spell crit and magmx magicka just for having it slotted.

    I hate wasting a slot. It's already very difficult to choose which skills to use and which have to be left behind.

    Hey, I run a MagDK and have done since I started playing. I’ve tried various builds and gear sets and tailed through forums posts and posted my own questions around skills and gear. In the end I actually settled on mixing a little frozen various sources and it works really well for me. I have a decent dps and defence and can survive most vet dungeons without any issues. I have as follows:

    Main bar - Shock Staff of Martial Knowledge, Nirnhoned, Shock enchant
    Off bar - Shock Staff of Martial Knowledge, Nirnhoned, Restore Magicka enchant

    My reason for Nirn is that you get an extra 240 spell damage from that trait and the reason fro shock staffs is that you get AoE damage from heavy attacks and if you use Elemental Rage ultimate (which i use) you get a longer duration and better burst damage (IMO).

    Head and Sholders - Valkyn Skoria, both heavy and Divines with Max Magicka enchants

    Hands and Belt - Burning Spellweave, both light and Divines with Max Magicka enchants

    Chest, Legs and Feet - Martial Knowledge, all light and Divines, with Max Magicka enchants

    Neck and Rings - Burning Spellweave with Spell Damage enchants

    Make sure to use Kuta enchants on all your gear for beat output.

    Martial Knowledge is fairly cheap to buy (at least on Xbox anyway) and I used the Transmute crystals to change my traits over from Infused to Nirn.

    Burning Spellweave is daily easy to farm in CoA1, in particular the Scamplord boss. Go in with a couple of mats on Veteran.

    Go straight for him, kill him, disband group to reset the dungeon, re form group and repeat. Took me 5 attempts at him to get Neck and Rings in purple.

    I’m also a Dunmer (MagDK Master Race lol). I’m also a Vamp (stage 4 because I’m too lazy to keep it at stage 3). I use The Apprentice mundus stone for extra spell damage.

    Skills are as follows:

    Main Bar - Inner Light / Elemental Blockade / Flame Lash / Engulfing Flames / Burning Embers (my only heal) / Shooting Star (there for max mag only)

    Off Bar - Inner Light / Molten Armaments / Harness Magicka / Eruption / Flames of Oblivion (my flex spot to swap between thins link Burning Talons / Coagulating Blood / Volatile Armour depending on what I or the group needs) / Elemental Rage (because the burst damage is insane, though you can swap for Standard of Might if you want to)

    My rotations is as follows:

    Molten Armaments > LA > Flames of Oblivion > LA > Eruption Bar Swap
    Engulfing Flames > LA > Burning Embers > LA > Elemental Blockade > LA > Flame Lash x 6 (make sure to LA between each Lash) > Engulfing Flames > LA Burning Embers > LA > Elemental Blockade > LA > Flame Lash x 4 Bar Swap

    At this point I would start my rotation again. I only drop my ultimate once all the DoTs have been applied and Burning Spellweave has triggered (you can tell because your arms have an orange glow) so as to get the most out of it.

    With this combo you’ll get around 4K spell damage (when everything procs) and around 50% crit.

    Using Elemental Blockade with a shock staff will set the enemy off balance (not every enemy can be off balanced so keep an eye out) which allows you to use the Flame Lash morph which does more damage, restores health and costs nothing.

    I do run an alternate set which has a higher crit rate but doesn’t have the added Skoria damage.

    Main Bar - Shock Staff of Julianos, Nirnhoned with Shock enchant

    Off Bar - Shock Staff of Julianos, Nirnhoned with Restore Magicka enchant

    Head - Iceheart, Light with Divines, Max Magicka enchant Chest - Julianos, Heavy with Divines, Max Magicka Enchant

    Shoulders - Julianos, Light with Divines, Max Magicka enchant
    Hands - Burning Spellweave, Light with Divines, Max Magicka enchant
    Belt - Burning Spellweave, Light with Divines, Max Magicka enchant
    Legs - Julianos, Medium with Divines, Max Magicka enchant
    Feet - Julianos, Light with Divines, Max Magicka enchant

    Neck and Rings - Burning Spellweave with Soell Damage enchants

    Same skills and rotation.

    I prefer the Martial Knowledge / Burning Spellweave / Skoria setup beat as you get better over all stats for using two heavy pieces.

    For the CP allocation I have followed what Alcast has advised on his build par as they seem logical for the most part and it seems to work well with how I play and he gear I wear.

    Also, with the levelling it’ll take you roughly 3/4 months of playing to hit level cap. I did it playing on and off. If you’re playing solidly every day for a good couple hours you’ll soon be there.

    And dont let the mDK negativity make you change, i love my mDK and wouldnt change him. He's fun to play and if i do a proper rotation and animation cancel properly you're looking around 30-35k dps at peak
