ESO Plus, Worth it?

I get slightly less value in ESO+ during the warmer months when the days are longer and I'm out doing more things in general.

But it's perfect for these crappy winter months where I can just kick back and catch up on content while padding my gold vault. And it's more fun roaming Eastmarch and Wrothgar when I don't have to experience the chills associated with that type of climate.

Because of the many 'Yes!' I went and bought it, and I can't say I regret it a single bit. As a crafter (although not a master), a general hoarder and someone who doesn't really play PVP the crafting bag has made life in ESO so much easier.

I must agree that if didn't have as much time as I have the subscription most likely wouldn't be worth it.

    Thanks for the responses!

Haven't started playing ESO yet. Want to try it because I loved the old Morrowind from 2002.

Learned, sadly, I need to save up money for a gaming PC to play the game so I can't play on the PC immediately.
Whatever happened to the day when any old PC could play any game, I wonder. Please forgive this digression.

My nephew has an XBox One. I'm considering using his XBox while he's at work and getting the game and XBox live.

I'm not sure what to do regarding ESO+. I wish to support the developers if I can afford it.

I have a few questions I hope people can answer.

    1) If I purchase ESO+ for the XBox, do I need a second ESO+ purchase once I have enough money to get a gaming PC?
I.e., is each purchase of ESO+ platform specific?

    2) Is ESO pay to win? The answer to this question won't deter my wish to play, but I'd like to know.

    3) I've started looking at the forums. There's concern about loot boxes and gambling? Isn't ESO rated mature?
Personally, I won't start gambling because I fear the addiction, but adults should be able to decide for themselves.
I can understand the desire to protect children and vulnerable adults from gambling.

To give you a sense of perspective about me, I'm old and retired, living on limited means.
I'm looking for an escape from reality; I don't much like listening to the news any more.

When I played the old Morrowind from 2002, I was a terrible pack rat.
I wasn't so much interested in killing things unless a quest required it. I loved to explore and collect stuff.

My nephew is a twenty something. My description of him may make him sound like a child, which he is not.
Call me an old fart if you wish. I don't feel I'm getting old. I feel other people are starting out life so terribly young.

No. Ppl are paying for it to gain QoL features which are intentionally set short to make you buy the service.

It’s not worth it, I’d much rather buy dlc with QoL updates included as pay for cosmetics.

    ^ x 10

Is it worth it? Yes because you NEED the QOL features to play the game in a fashion that is recognized by industry standards.

Is it worth it? No because as the quote says, people pay for it to gain QOL features that are intentionally set short to make you buy the service. Features that in other games are baseline and where purchasing the service gets you access to 99.99999% of the game content.

I think ESO+ is worth it for the Craft Bag. Also to support a great game.

    1) You will need to get a second ESO+ for the PC. Note: you will not be able to transfer items from XBOX to PC.
    2) NO ESO is not Play to Win. All Items in the Crown Store and Crown Crates are either cosmetic ( mounts, outfits, hair styles, etc ) or if it is potions they are weaker than the ones that can be made in game.
    3) There is a lot of heated debate on both sides of the Crown Crate issue. My sig tells you where I stand on Crown Crates.

On a side note: I know I am not one of the oldest players ( 60 ) so you will have a home here. In polls that I have seen in the forums, it seems that the average age range is older. I think that maybe the reason is that a lot of people came from playing the other Elder Scroll games ( like myself ).

CROWN CRATES: It doesn't affect gameplay, it's not mandatory, it's cosmetic only. If it helps to support the game and ZOS, I support it! Say YES to crown crates.

I don't think you need that good of a PC to be able to play ESO. I have a pretty outdated computer and I play at max video settings and I get solid 100 FPS.

I like ESO plus, but I'm currently VERY frustrated because there's no way to gift ESO Plus or buy ESO plus game time for the PC. This means I'm playing with my friend, but we're leveling at different rates and I have many features he can't use. I don't understand why one can purchase game time for every platform but the original PC platform. I've had this account for a long time and have no interest in switching to a console version.

The crafting bag is great. Double band space is an nice second.

Glad they find things like this to make sub worthwhile vs the punitive tactics some other games do like reducing XP gained by non subs and locking them out of PvP and raids.

You realize that part of the subscription to ESO is an increase in XP right? This means that non-subs have reduced XP, clearly a punitive tactic by ZOS.

You realize that much of the content in ESO CAN NOT be accessed without a sub, or an expensive crown store purchase? More clearly punitive tactics by ZOS.

I would definitely say that it's worth it for these following key reasons (my subjective opinion):
    • Crafting Bag
    • Can dye costumes/hats
    • 2x Bank Space
    • +other reasons like access to all DLC content + crowns = to the subscription amount, which you can use in the crown store.

cynic the game is designed (intended, deliberately made) to be harder to play if you don't have eso plus. The game exists to make money so a combination of "carrots and sticks" are used to make us player donkeys go towards paying every month.

Crafting is made very difficult without subbing at least occasionally. The craft bag let's any character gather materials and all characters always have access to crafting materials. Without the craft bag many players choose not to gather materials because of the time it takes to manage inventory.

This is particularly noticeable during events like the witches festival and new life festival where you will get lots of varied rewards.

Storing gearsets is important too, and with so many gearsets in the game, as well as an every expanding collection of furnishings, maps, pardon edicts, those weird dazzler consumables, etc, you need a lot of inventory space.

Playing the inventory management mini-game is more of a mid to endgame activity. In the early game gold and experience are all that matters, so eso plus gives a noticeable increase in those too.

In conclusion, eso knows what buttons to push, so to get the most out of the game you will have to pay for it with eso plus. If you don't you will progress more slowly, not just because you get less experience and gold, but also because you will spend more time tidying up your inventory and bank more often and you will probably rely on others to do at least some of your crafting for you.

P.s. I sub occasionally, usually for in-game events. I would prefer to buy things out right but there is no way I could be a crafter without getting the craft bag occasionally.

Actually, the game without ESO+ is exactly what the game was like before they got rid of the mandatory sub-fee (1T not withstanding). ESO+ legitimately adds bonuses while not subbing is the baseline experience.

So the crafting bag was never a thing? People had to deal with crafting mats coming out of every orifice?

    Hello guys,

I have a trade to propose if there's someone interested.

I have bought 1 month ESO plus for PS4 by mistake. I know it's stupid, but it was 5 am and I was tired and I did it.
But, I don't have PS4 and don't know anyone who has it, I play on PC. I have withdrawn my money so I'm offering to buy it for you in exchange for Tessellated Guar mount which can be bought as a gift from crown store (1300 crowns, the reason why I wanted ESO plus in a first place). I didn't know where to turn, but the money is just standing there in my PS4 wallet on my account and I can't find any use for it, so contact me if you're interested.

Why not send the money for ESO+ to your friend so that he can buy ESO+ himself? PayPal works wonders here and it is safe. Perhaps some pre-paid cards such as Paysafecard may work too?

Generally, yes, not worth it but a must, or essential, if you will.

When I first joined and immediately became a subscriber I said it's worth it. Now, after some time playing and nearing the expiration date of my sub I'd say it's a must to play this game. If only they balanced prices in the store for those who already pay to play basically, which is what ESO+ is since it offers some essential benefits if you want to experience the game without certain limitations like an unlimited craft mats storage.

Why I would say it's not worth it is because you're supporting a company that more or less doesn't care. It's blatantly obvious. The game, if you look at the prices, is just a money sink.

If you're only into PVE, sure, you will have loads of fun and it's worth it then. If you like competitive content, definitely not. It's light years away from being balanced.

I cancelled my sub renewal shortly after the Steam fiasco some time back because of how the company "handled the situation" and showed us how they "care". I am 80% decided not to renew.

Simple flow chart goes like this: Do you want to craft? Yes = Get ESO+, No = Most likely won't need ESO+ except if you want to play the DLC without buying them. If you don't intend to craft wait for a free ESO+ event and check it out that way.
