Which of these do you slot for PvP?

Since my 1st days playing an MMO (the original Everquest) I have always character built with an emphasis on having good defensive capability. As a result, when I was confronted with the choice of Inner Light or Radiant Magelight, I chose Radiant mainly due to the defensive benefit it provides (immunity to the stun from an enemies stealth attack)...

Lately, however, I am starting to wonder are the benefits provided by Radiant worth passing on the extra 7% Max Magicka that Inner Light gives you...

Anyway, this poll is pretty simple: which of these do you slot in PvP and why do you slot it instead of the alternative?

Because I run my magicka characters primarily in PVE, and it doesn't make sense to me to shell out for a little bit more defense every time I go to do a bit of PVP on them

I play a character called "Gives Me Wood Elf" because I am a mature and sensible person.

I got mages guild 10 on my stam DK just to empower leaps but found out that Radiant Magelight is 100X more effective than Camo Hunter. I haven't tried the other morph of magelight but if it's as bad as camo hunter for pulling nightblades out of stealth I wouldn't take it just for the passives.

Not sure why someone mentioned the skill they use for PvE since the question was specifically PvP.

If your character is specifically PvP then radiant is the only one that makes sense.

I tested various detection abilities with a friend, once. Basically the only thing that has decent range are the potions. That said, I wouldn't even use those speculatively, but only to lock on to someone I just saw or "felt" with the eye cursor. People move around too much.

My magden is a magicka-stacking build - 50K+ with Nectopotence / Shacklebreaker / Inner Light / Northern Storm. I wouldn't ever consider Radiant for that character or for a magsorc. Inner Light gives you extra magicka, thus bigger shields and more damage. The way to protect yourself is to shield, shield, shield - or block - and let the nightblade come to you. If you catch a glimpse, there are some options:

Detection potions - preferably Immovability / Detection / Magicka.

Tag them with Consuming Trap. They can't successfully cloak for 8 seconds. You'll still see them.

Once they've tried their burst, and their own health is a bit low, try to catch them in the Northern Storm ulti before they cloak.

DOT them up and enable combat text. The combat text will give away their position when the DOTs tick, even if they are cloaked.

Use Inner Light / Expert Hunter religiously, every 5 seconds, while the nightblade is in your face. That's what those skills are good for: to prevent the NB from cloaking away, when they are right in front of you, not to detect them when you don't know where they are.

Pay attention to where the nightblade places their shade. Stay there and let them come to you, if possible, as that is their other way of disappearing (when it works - has become buggy with the latest patch).

As a stamsorc, keep up your Hurricane. You have a portable detection field built right into your class.

I mostly play as a magicka nightblade myself. Nightblades will readily see crouched people, when they get close to you, however the crouched person will not see a nightblade that uses the Cloak skill. Cloak = Invisibility and that is more powerful than crouch, although you will be able to hear a cloaking nightblade, when they get very close. In that case pop a detection method right then, be that Magelight, an AOE ability, potion, etc. Cloaking nightblades themselves have no real need for a detection skill and, once they've caught someone, Mark Target trumps everything in terms of convenience for latching on.

The one that isn't Radiant Magelight.

Ever since they removed extra damage from stealth, that morph has been basicly useless. Getting stunned from stealth just means you hit CC break and then don't have to worry about dying for 5 seconds as you dodge roll, block or shield up and don't have to worry about getting CC'd & combo'd for 5 seconds.

The stun from stealth can even be seen as a downside for this reason, as you're stunning your opponent when he/she is at full health, rather than at the end of the combo which would give you better chances at getting a kill.

Inner light is not a tool for fighting stealth. That's what detect pots are for. It's for the passive magicka buff+major prophecy
