And some low-life swoops in and steals the chest.

Whilst I don't like when it happens, this is just something of how ESO and most MMO games work.

Players are going to want to get rewards (like chests) and if they see the chance to get one there is no code of conduct which says they can't take that chest. This is the same as when someone fails a chest and the next person opens it, whilst you were the first to interact with it that didn't claim it for you.

ESO does have the lovely advantage of instanced loot from enemies and world items, it's only nodes we have to compete for.

I lol’d! I was in Razaks Urning, as you do, and fighting a couple things like ON a chest and some guy nabs it.

All I did was in ./say write: lol Nice Meme.

Like 20 mins later I got a mail, and it was a purple mirror furnishing worth 6k and an apology.

Right now it is fair game on chests in cwc. If you see one you better grab it. I got excited because I had found a trove..and it just had lock picks in it

I see that a fair bit in the game and i've had the same thing done to me plenty of times. It's sometimes frustrating because I don't play that way either, but there is 'nowt I can do.

Don't fight mobs next to nodes and chests? I never do when I farm, waste of time and you can get sniped.

I got a little story. During the one year anniversary for the thieves guild (how appropriate ha), everyone was stealing chests and nodes from each other left and right.

At one point I found a master chest but it had enemies around it. I was standing there wondering what to do. Do I fight the mobs and risk losing the chest, or do I wait around for someone else to show up, and be that guy who steals it? I risked it and went in for the mobs. I was on a tank, so I killed things real slow. A few seconds into my fight, a guy on a mount comes riding over, and that's when I knew I dun fd up.

They ran over, got off his mount, and instead of going straight to the chest, he slowly walked towards it as if to taunt me. I was like, of course... But he got to the chest, and immediately sprinted away, without opening it.

You mf, that dude trolled me lol. He just made it look like he was going to take it, but didn't. Seemed like he's pretty cool guy.

If I see someone fighting towards or beside a chest I won't grab it. I know many others wouldn't think twice, but I don't like if people do it to me, so I won't do it to others. Basic courtesy is sadly lacking these days in general.

If I see someone fighting mob(s) near a chest I do the following: help them finish off the Mobs, stand and make sure they are free of combat while they loot the chest.

Maybe you are right, it is how people are raised.

Not to defend the lowlife, but a lot of people who go chest-hunting have these pins on the map showing the locations. They have already spent time discovering those chests and now they want to quickly harvest whatever spawned. So if I'm specifically running those laps, I'm sorry but the race is on. The whole concept of shared chests incorporates competition and race. I used to think like the op, but now I've realized you can't live in any MMO if you're gonna politely wait for others to take everything before you. If you don't like the race, don't do the competitive activity. CWC is a good example. What would happen if I waited for everyone on the same quest as me and in the same area take all the resources I'm looking for? I would never finish the daily.

Yeah, I have that Add-on as well.

There's still no need to be a prat though.

If someone else is clearing the mobs around a chest then it's their chest as far as I am concerned.

There are a few honorable people that will leave a chest alone if your fighting by it. Generally speaking, most are jerkbags that will loot it.

This one sees you fighting near a node/chest, Khajiit will help kill, but then stand there while you decide to gather the resource, or leave. If you leave, Khajiit takes the resource. Any other outcome, you get resource.

This is what should happen, in this one's opinion.
