    What is ESO without mods?
I'm not at home, so I probably will miss some. But to function, I need Skyshards, Lorebooks, Destinations, some form of a mini map, lost treasure, lazy writ whatever, potion maker, inventory grid view, roomba, AUI, some of the wykkyd addons, Advanced Filters, MM, Srendarr, Kill Counter, FTC, Craft Store (on my main master crafter only), and Awesome Guild Store.I'm sure there are more.

And it depends on what character I am on. Like the one I use in PvP has pretty much all of them turned off, what does she need Master Merchant for in Cyrodiil? If I am fishing, I turn on some fishing add ons. Baby characters also get that quest add on that helps sort main quests w/skill points from the rest.

Like Turelus, I use a good amount of mods. And likewise I have to say that most of their functionality should be in the base game.

    - Advanced filters (the vanilla inventory filters are way too broad)
    - AI Research Grid (to know what each char has researched, without having to relog)
    - Arkadius' Trade Tools (alternative to Master Merchant, can't imagine trading without it)
    - Auto Recharge (I forget it way too often otherwise)
    - AutoMaxImprovement (uses max # of tannins when improving)
    - AwesomeGuildStore (again, can't imagine buying from guild stores without it)
    - Chat Window Manager
    - ChatHotkeys (assign keyboard shortcuts to stuff like /quit /reloadui etc.)
    - Circonian's Addon Selector (organize your addons in profiles and turn them on/off quickly)
    - Combat Metrics (must-have for minmaxers)
    - Constellations (calculate optimal CP allocation)
    - Destinations
    - Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter
    - DressingRoom (switch skill bar and gear loadout with a keypress)
    - EasyTravel (right-click on a zone in the map window, and auto-port to a friend/guildie in that zone)
    - Enchant Maker (so you don't have to remember all those rune properties)
    - FCO Item Saver (assign groups/icons to gear and filter views accordingly)
    - FCO StarveStop (reminder when buff food runs out)
    - Foundry Tactical Combat (used to share DPS with my group)
    - Greymind Quick Slot Bar
    - Group Loot Notifier (there's ongoing discussion about this one, but I don't mind others knowing what I loot, and vice versa)
    - Harven's Chat Completion (makes it easier to remember / enter long commands)
    - Harven's Extended Stats (shows important stats like spell/phys penetration that aren't in the char screen by default)
    - Harven's Improved Skills Window (shows allocated skill points, needed exp for next lvl, shows tooltips for the non-selected morph etc.)
    - Harven's Stack Split Slider
    - Harven's Trait and Style
    - Inventory Insight (look at all chars' inventories and bank without relogging or needing a banker)
    - Itemization Browser (Searchable overview of all sets in the game with location, type, effects etc.)
    - Journal Quest Log (shows an alphabetical list of all completed quests)
    - LoreBooks
    - LUI Extended (alternative to AUI etc., makes the GUI worthwhile)
    - Merlin's Rez Helper (shows directional arrows pointing to dead group members)
    - No, thank you (suppresses all kinds of annoying messages)
    - NoAccidentalStealing (prevents looting "steal" containers if not crouching / pressing a hotkey button)
    - Pet Dismiss (assign a key to quickly unsummon your pet)
    - Potion Maker (so you don't have to memorize alchemy ingredient effects)
    - RaidNotifier (shows hints and warnings about mechanics in raids)
    - Rare Fish Tracker (shows a window with the rare fish you're missing in your current zone, ordered by type)
    - Scootworks Combat (among other things, colors the compass red when in combat)
    - SkyShards
    - Srendarr (this is what a buff tracker should look like, unlike the recently added vanilla one)
    - SuperStar (overview/import/export of full character build)
    - Thurisaz Guild Info
    - Untaunted (keeps track of mobs have had taunt/ele drain/etc applied to)
    - Votan's Fish Fillet (process stacks of fish without having to wear out your INTERACT key)
    - Votan's Fisherman (keeps track of fishing holes and types of fish)
    - Votan's Improved Quests (quest list in map window with filters/types/categories)
    - Votan's Keybinder (make selected key assignments account wide)
    - Votan's Mini Map (one of several available minimap addons, for me a must-have)
    - What Pledges at my Alts (calendar/list of undaunted pledges / DLC world bosses / raid rewards per character)
    - Wykkyd Toolbar (all the important game info in a small font bar)

Are there any that you don't have? !!

    What is ESO without mods?
There are some addons that I find it extremely annoying to play without:

    Advanced Filters
    Master Merchant
    Awesome Guild Store
    Destinations
EasyTravel (would not really need this if they would just make it free to teleport from a house to a wayshrine)
    Lorebooks
    Lost Treasure
    No, Thank You
SkyShards (the searching is fun once but gets old when you have multiple alts)
    Votan's Minimap

Others that I use because they are awesome:

    Azurah Interface Enhanced
    Craftstore
    Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter
    Dustman
    ESO Master Recipe List
    FurniturePreview
    Harven's Stolen Filter
    Inventory Insight
    Personal Assistant
    Pet Dismiss
    Potion Maker
    Roam Home

When I started on PC, it was only supposed to be a way for me to get familiar with the game before I jumped to the console version a couple weeks later. However, after experiencing the addons, there was no way I would ever play the console version. There are just way too many cool things you can do with addons that leaves the console version lifeless and a lot less fun IMO.

It's an Elder Scrolls game...you're not playing it right unless you mod it until it breaks, then re-install and mod it again! :p:D

Seriously though, I couldn't imagine playing it without add-ons such as Destinations, Harvest Map, Master Merchant and my all time favorite..Immersive Horse Riding (which brings back sweet memories of Oblivion by letting me ride in first person)

I use the new better controller interface mod, since I'm a loser who plays with controlers. It gives me some of the features of other mods that normally aren't open to me. I also use Skyshards/Lorebooks because I did the whole 'discovering them for the first time via exploring' bit enough times before.

And a mod that tracks the fish in zones, as one of 4 people that fish in this game.

I would not play without mods. Way to time consuming and annoying. Especially key bind and UI. It's really pretty bad without them and kind of pathetic rag-tag players can make better and 10x more useful ui, map, and key bind mods.

Quite frankly, ESO is just something I use to keep my hundred mods glued together. Otherwise, I only play for the mods.

I'm not an IT person, but I guess ESO is the operating system and the mods are the programs.

ESO is the basket, the mods are the apples.

ESO is like looking at a blank sheet of paper that's never been painted with mods.

Mods are like flowers in a field of ESO grass.

If ESO is life, mods are adventure and sex.

I hope I didn't overreact to the question.

Current addOns folder. I prefer things that adjust behavior, not put a lot of new UI on the screen, but my crafting screens are overloaded and I ought to slim that down. I tried minimaps but I find them distracting; In WoW I had the bad behavior of just looking at my minimap and all the bars and chats, with a tiny little view ahead.

wow... some ppl use a lot of addons....

I try to get away with just a few, but every major patch - the addons are all broken :( and every patch - I re-think what I use

    Always use these core addons:
    lorebooks
    skyshards
lost treasure - only on 1 toon
    Destinations - please update
craftstore/traitbuddy NA/EU - soon not any more as almost finished craft researching

Action Duration - this is better than any other addon for keeping track of buffs and skill use - PLEASE PLEASE update

    Advanced filters - please update
    votans keybind - please update
    votans minimap
votans search box - please update

Awesome Guildstore = great but it breaks my ui so I turn it on only when I need to.

I don't trade - so no MM or TTC - I used to - but they slow the system down soooooo much

On console skill is our only add on. On PC you guys let the add ons play the game for you...I'm so glad I'm on ps4.

You call it "skill", I call it "quality of life". Is it skill to press USE 200 times to fillet a stack of fish, as opposed to letting a script do it for you? ;)

Is Miats also just "quality of life"? Not at all...it's cheating imo!

    You didn't answer the question.

Is better inventory filters a cheat?
Is a research timer a cheat?
Is a horse timer a cheat?

Miats is definitely an advantage over those who don't use it, no debate there (and it sounds like they are going to change it), but don't use it as a deflection for the simple question of whether addons offer QoL or not.

If ZoS offered you a toggle to see all morphs before you morphed a skill, you wouldn't use it? Because they do offer it...on PC in the form of an addon.

Grind the ability to rank 4..... Then you can see it. Only needs a bit of questing... No addon needed is rather have some stable PvP servers(even thou not traveling via transitus or dying seems to help) di dnt crash 1ce for 2h...

I still think everyone "should" start without and that's what I would recommend. Just see how you like it, check the hints for skyshards or even try to find the treasure chests. But after leveling a few characters (or if any of that is not your thing) I think it's totally fine.
