    What is ESO without mods?
First 6 months or so, I used no Addons at all. Then when I finally started crafting research in earnest, I started using a mod here and there. Now I have about 20 or so that I use, notable ones are:

    Master Merchant
    Awesome Guild Store
    Craft Store
    Destinations
    Lore Books
    Skyshards
    Assist Rapid Riding
    Advanced Filters
    AUI
    Potion Maker
    Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter
    Combat Log Statistics
    Auto Invite
    Luminary Transporter
    Harven's Extended Stats
    Slightly Improved Experience Bar
    Lost Treasure
    Frykins Minimap
    Inventory Insight
Keybindings (don't remember the name but it makes all keybinds the same for all characters)
A mod that gives Hotkeys for the Assistants, (again, don't remember the name)

I think I have a few more installed but may not be actually using them. There are a couple for the Morrowind Tomb and Sermons Achievements that I have active on the characters who have not done those yet.

Can I just say mini-map. Other than that I'm always delighted when features like telling you what you can research are added to the base game.

@thread: I use about 25 addons, couldn't live without the basic ones like inventory Grid view or awesome guild store. Also stuff like my emote addon coupled with a mouse macro probably entertained my friends and me more than most real ingame content

The game is practically unplayable without addons....I don't know how the console people do it, to be honest, and they also have to deal with choppy, stuttery 30-ish fps, and far inferior graphics. :o

I don't even have a console game system anymore; all my games are played on the PC specifically so I can take advantage of quality-of-life add-ons if available.

Just as someone else said earlier, I usually use an add-on for a single purpose and turn off the other features. I don't want information overload; I just want that one thing that makes the tedium of crafting and inventory management more palatable. In fact, I've used add-ons that removed or simplified UI elements so that I had a more immersive experience while exploring.

Some complain that certain features should be in-game already, but I actually like the add-on ala carte method to customize my gameplay.

I understand that PvP-centric players may see add-ons, any add-on, as a competitive advantage, but I don't PvP so the only advantage I'm taking is making my game time more enjoyable.

I totally understand why someone would not want to use Skyshards or Lorebooks for example. These things really can kill the feeling of exploration and discovery, and remove a kind of gameplay.

But for others like Advanced Filters I don't get how some people can turn away from them. Is digging through menus really a form of gameplay you want to make last longer. Is it even gameplay at all?

It is about time that Zos incorporates some of the most useful add-ons into base ui. Most add-ons I use offer quality of life improvements that most can agree are almost necessary.

On console skill is our only add on. On PC you guys let the add ons play the game for you...I'm so glad I'm on ps4.

You call it "skill", I call it "quality of life". Is it skill to press USE 200 times to fillet a stack of fish, as opposed to letting a script do it for you? ;)

Is Miats also just "quality of life"? Not at all...it's cheating imo!

    You didn't answer the question.

Is better inventory filters a cheat?
Is a research timer a cheat?
Is a horse timer a cheat?

Miats is definitely an advantage over those who don't use it, no debate there (and it sounds like they are going to change it), but don't use it as a deflection for the simple question of whether addons offer QoL or not.

If ZoS offered you a toggle to see all morphs before you morphed a skill, you wouldn't use it? Because they do offer it...on PC in the form of an addon.

They offer both QoL and cheats...its not the QoL that I'm talking about. Its things like Miats and key binding your entire rotation, that's scrub tactics. Nobody cares that you have a horse timer...sets have actually been nerfed because of the cheats(add ons) that you guys use to hold your hands.

Picked up a couple mods, nothing drastic.
I use 17 mods, but probably not the ones most people consider essential.

Ones I wouldn't be without: (In order of priority)
MiniMap by Fryakin - I have literally no sense of direction and it's even worse in games. Without a mini map I'd spend 3/4 of my time going in the wrong direction and the remaining 1/4 checking the map every 3 seconds.
Azurah - So I can move the default UI around (I also use the option to colour names by reaction - e.g. enemies in red)
Advanced Filters - Allows you to sort your inventory in more detail.
Srendarr - So I can tell what's going on in combat. I keep meaning to try the new default buff tracker but suspect I'd prefer this for more customisation anyway.
Binder - To copy keybindings between characters quickly. (Or save unused sets.)
Pchat - To copy chat settings between characters quickly.
Harven's Subtitles - Better than the default because you can scale them - I have the sound off, I'm not blind!
Inventory Insight - So I can check who has what without switching characters.
AI Research Grid - So I can check which items my crafter needs.
Hide House Previews - So I can actually see the map under all the houses.
Luminary BankerShutUp - Because you can't kill bankers. Useful for other NPCs too sometimes.
Quest Map - So I can quickly check I really have finished a zone before I move on (I keep it off until then)

    Ones that are just fun/convenient:
ESO Theater - Because I can never remember all the emotes.
Master Merchant - I don't trade much, but I hate trying to get a straight answer on prices out of people almost as much as I hate standing in town spamming chat to get rid of items.
Pimp My Ride - So I don't waste as much time trying to decide which mount/pet to use and trying to make sure I use them all equally so I'm not wasting them.
Roamhome - Quick teleports to houses.
Skyshards - Only on my crafter.
PC EU player | She/her/hers | PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!

If you use a mod to help you play better in combat, like idk Miats? Are you playing well or is the addon holding your hand and playing for you?

    What is ESO without mods?
Oh man, I only started using add-ons a couple months ago, but I won't ever be able to go back to vanilla. xD
Just too many great additions that save me so much time!

I cannot imagine playing without these:
Advanced filters - to add subcategories for all inventory tabs
AI research grid - to check which motifs and research items my chars still need
Awesome guild store - to make the guild store UI much more convenient in use
Lost treasure - to see the location of any writ survey / treasure map I have in my inventory on the map
Master merchant - to be able to price items based on previous guild prices
Skyshards - to see them on my map
    Votan's mini-map - to have a simple but configurable mini-map on-screen

    Useful, but not 'mandatory':
Combat metrics - to check DPS numbers
Master recipe list - to see which chars know a recipe on mouse-over
Harven's trait and style - to see whether an item is researchable (and for which chars) on mouse-over
Item saver - to add any item to custom categories and be able to filter them out of certain gui screens
Lorebooks - to see the books on my map
Ravalox' quest tracker - to replace the standard quest overview in top-right corner of screen
Srendarr - to see all (de)buffs and place them where I want them on-screen
No thank you - to change if/how (and where) errors/warnings/notifications/etc are shown
pChat - to add a clock/timer to chat messages, change colours, and set whether I see char names / user IDs
Multicraft - to craft more than one item at once

Gimmicks / fun to have / situational use:
Crafting stations - to have the crafting sites on my map even if I haven't discovered them
Khajiit speak - because it's just super awesome on a khajiit character
Thurisaz guild info - I use it only to have players' character names in the guild roster
Rare fish tracker - to see which fish I've already caught / yet to catch in the zone I'm in
Quest map - to check whether I've completed the entire zone before moving to the next
Votan's improved locations - to improve the way locations are listed on the map page (right side of screen)
Raidificator - have not used it yet honestly (hardly do any raids), but was recommended by a friend

    then there is

    Skyshards
    Traitbuddy
    TTC
Master Recipe List ( needs updating bad )
    Potionmaker
    Multicraft

Honestly all of these things should be in the vanilla game, unfortunately they are not....other than that though, its base UI for me.

I'm on Xbox so obviously no mods here. Reading your list however, in some ways I wish Xbox could implement some modes such as master merchant and TTC and mini map and some of the ones like that that make crafting easier and QoL better but at the same time I'm glad we don't have mods because we would have to deal with crap like Miats and some of the other mods that are more or less cheat codes.

With that being said I think I prefer ESO the way it is on Xbox. Maybe Zos could implement some things for crafting and what not over time but for now I'm fine not having mods or add-ons. I enjoy ESO the way it is.

Plain vanilla due to a) laziness and b) paranoia - both about potential bans and the possibility of future patches messing up this or that mod. Although I suspect that at some point in the not too distant future I might start experimenting a little bit with any visual QoL improvements that are available.

To be sure, there are games where I use mods aplenty. Just not ESO at this point.

i feel much better after seeing some of the lists here...when i played skyrim, i used to go a little haywire, i ended up using a couple of the programs that consolidated and ordered the mods, for compatibliity and to keep the number of mods under the 255 cap...i commonly went over 200 <g>...but that was a lot more than just UI like here, there was a lot of content that we could add...

I use a few. I like the vanilla hud and layout for the most part. The few I use tend to be to help with minor issues I have, and then I have Skyshards so I don't need to hunt them down on all characters (they're fun to hunt down once but not multiple times).
