Please Make Treasure Maps Viable

I mean, I took all the maps I got from the dungeon event and a few I had in my bank, and decided to hunt all of them down.
It took about 2 1/2 hours, but I got a lot of recipes for provisioning and furniture I didn't have and about 70k in gold after selling all the stuff I couldn't use and gold from chests.
Having the merchant helped a ton.
Yes, I know it seems one by one there's not much to them, but if you save them up and take a day to just track them down, it's worth it.
I'm not rich enough in game to look at 70k in profits and say that's not viable.

Treasure maps are great if you like to get:
    - Spinner's Battle Axe*
    - Spriggan's Restoration Stuff*
    - Thunderbug Bow*
    - War Maiden Greatsword*
    - bunch of Invigorating c..p
    - and so many other great things

    *if you have enough luck...

Gold from chest is a joke and 99% of time everything you get is not worth anything even to vendor trash. I mean what's the point of getting green armor for example for feet when it's only worth 29 g and for decon is useless?

If you are not on PC don't even bother and on PC it's not woth either if treasure is in the middle of nowhere or at zone boss. Sure if it's close to wayshrine but otherwise...

I had saved a bunch hoping for a day when they’d be worth while. Finally had to clear them out and ran probably 10 with a character that has the treasure hunt passive. Completely worthless and a waste of time
I didn't believe others like you when you typed treasure maps are worthless... until last night :/. Huge disappointment is an understatement!

Each treasure map will yield 300-400 gold from simply vendoring the contents.

Purple is only important for jewelry.

Having some motif pages drop would be nice. I'm all about motif pages.

I'm working on the 1000 chest achievement on my 4th character, so treasure maps are good for that.
Clearly fake news unless you provide screenshot of 300-400 g worth of vendoring.

The cowardly Wood Elves are best noted for their unwillingness to engage in a face-to-face attack; a Bosmer will strike at you from every side except the front. You won't cross swords with a Bosmer, but you might catch an arrow in the throat. Be wary in forests and jungles, and watch your back.

Currently, finding treasure maps in the game is useless. I remember getting excited back in March of 2014 when I would loot a treasure map, but those feelings are long gone now. A treasure map chest is no different from a regular treasure chest.

Some items to potentially include in Treasure Map Chests could be:
    • 10% chance for rare furniture plan drop
    • 10% chance for yellow gear drop
    • 10% chance for rare motif style item
    • 10% chance of yellow temper drop
    • chance of having nirncrux
    • Minimum of 1 piece of purple gear guaranteed to be found in chest

Even if you feel the need to reduce the drop rate of treasure maps if you are going to make their contents more valuable, I think most of us would be alright with that, provided we get excited when we find a treasure map. Finding a treasure map and having one, giving one away as a reward, should mean something. At present, they are practically useless given that it is easier for me to go to an overland chest spawn than it is to bother with trying to work out where a treasure map is, and yet they have the same payout/reward.

ADDITIONAL - Please get rid of the lock difficulty having any bearing on what is inside. It's unrealistic and only makes sense from a metagaming perspective. As the son of a locksmith, I can tell you that some locks eat you alive and some don't and that the quality of the lock has very little bearing on how hard it is to pick. Whomever is putting their stuff in the chest isn't going to have this innate ability to suddenly make the chest's lock more difficult to pick because of the contents either.

new to MMO? all mmo have big rng to make stuff rare. And the locks are old school rpg staple. the harder the lock the rarer the loot.

    neither are claims this.
outside making everything 100% rng is rng. something can be 90% chance and you still fall in that 10% mark

Regular chests are so common I understand why their loot isn't anything awesome(though there's a chance, and some sets are bomb). But map chests, since they do take effort besides just falling over them, to find, should be a bit better, but not something crazy like you're recommending...

Maybe like a 3-10% chance to get ONE of those things... A rare furniture drop, a purple motif, a legendary crafting mat or gear, or a nirncrux. A low chance still, since it's not really hard to find treasure maps.
