I dropped skoria a while ago.
In 1v1 it's amazing. Like BIS imo.
But reflective light and ritual mean it can often proc on the guy you aren't pressuring. It annoyed me a lot so I dropped it.
I tried Slimecraw for a while. Straight up extra damage. Also more crit (Templars deal additional crit damage so that's nice too). So that's a good choice.
Grothdrarr is a solid choice too.
You could go with something with more survivability or sustain too. Bloodspawn is always a good choice for more ult as well.
Or mix and match. 1 piece max magica/regen/spell damage/ health, whatever you want to increase.
If you want to get the most out of Skoria drop Dark flair for Reflective light/Vampires Bane and Extended Ritual for Ritual of Retribution.LukosCreyden wrote: »Hey everyone, so I decided to try and take pvp a little more seriously and rolled a magplar. I am currently running 5 piece Kagrenac's, 5 piece War-Maiden's and 2 piece Skoria.
Sword and Board front bar, lightning destro back bar, swapping between 5 heavy and 5 light as I fancy.
However, I feel like I am not really gaining all that much benefit from Skoria, I feel like it doesn't proc all that often, or enough enough for me to rely on it for burst. Is there any other 2 piece sets that would benefit?
My current bars are set up as follows:
Sword and Shield
.Radiant Magelight
.Dark Flair
.Jesus Beam
.Sweeps
.Aurora Javelin
.Soul Assault
Destro Bar
.Entropy
.Extended Ritual
.Honor the Dead
.Purifying Light
.Repentance
.Destro Ult
Should I switch monster sets, or mix up two different pieces for raw stat boosts? Any tips or advice for this pvp noob would be appreciated. Thanks, guys and gals!

Dark flair might hit really hard if you actually land one but in PVP because of the interruptible cast time it is really only good for spamming from the back of a pack and even then it's pretty easy to dodgeroll/block because it's hard to miss seeing it coming and has such a slow travel time. The healing debuff DF applies is usually cleansed by groups pretty much instantly so it's benefits are fairly negligible, really the only thing that defeats a group with lots of healing is a Sorc Negate. I prefer using Reflective Light since it dots three people at a time (3X the chance to proc Skoria) and the extra ticks from Vamp Bane won't really come into play since you'll want to recast every six seconds to keep up the Major Prophecy both morphs give, boosting your crit rate by 10% for a bit more damage and larger heals. I know you already get this from Radiant but I'll explain below why you might consider dropping the Magelight, making this an important benefit to running Relflective.
Retribution is a large AOE dot that gives you a chance to proc Skoria on anyone it hits and does decent damage over time if someone stays inside to fight you plus it has a bit higher heal per tick than Extended so the benefits make it worth losing the extra cleanses.
Unrelated to Skoria: as a Magtemp you should get rid of Repentance and slot one of the Rune Focus morphs instead. I like the extra healing/damage reduction of Restoring but Channeled is also very viable since it gives you the equivalent of 480 more magic recovery. That's a much bigger boost than Minor Intellect gives you and the double digit health/stam recovery boosts are laughable. Not to mention both morphs are boosting your resistances by 5280 for 8 seconds every time you recast/move through them and are much cheaper to be cast instead of Ritual to clear your armor being fractured .
I'd also get rid of Javelin and replace it with Toppling Charge since your main source of damage comes from Sweeps and you need to be close to use them so it's much better to have an ability that puts you in someone's face rather than one that knocks your opponent out of their range. Javelin if mostly a troll move for knocking people off keep walls. It does crap damage for its cost and the stun is blockable/dodgeable and even if applied is incredibly short so it wears off before you can get back in range to use sweeps.
You'll also get a lot more damage by dropping Radiant Magelight (slot some detect pots if you're worried about NB's) and swapping one of your back bar abilities to your front and then running Elemental drain on your Destro. It's a free cast on unlimited opponents, dropping their spell resistance by 5280 so not just you but all friendly magic users do more damage to them. Since every 600 points of resistance equals 1% damage negated dropping someone's spell resistance by 5280 means they'll take 8.8% more damage from everyone's magic/elemental abilities. Another huge bonus of Elemental drain is that every second you and/or your allies damage them you and/or your allies get 300 magic back (equivalent of 600 magic recovery on your stat sheet). And as discussed above Reflective light will replace the loss of Major Prophecy from Radiant. The ability I'd recommend swapping to your S&B would be Entropy and then replace Soul Assault with a Meteor morph so you have a hard hitting ability you can actually empower (it's initial hit) and with 2 Mages guild abilities slotted instead of the one you'll have more max magic and recovery on that bar than you do now.

You cannot empower meteor

You're welcome. Glad to help, and thanks to Lexxypwns I learned not to waste time+magic trying to empower a meteor than already empowers itself.

Good for you, thats going to help your skoria numbers.

Furthermore the supernatural recovery and undeath passive are way to valuable not to be a vampire.
Try shackle heavy armour, willpower s + b back bar 3 bloodthorn jewels and 2 swords front bar. Your choice of monster there are many for this class.

My thoughts:.
- I prefer to keep thing simple. Offensive bar. Defensive bar. You've got offensive skills on both bars which means constant switching around for an offensives rotation.
In short, I think your are making things too complicated and trying to cover for too many eventualities. Which I think is natural for newer PvP players (I know I was the same way). Be ranged or melee and build toward those strengths

@Joy_Division
Yup, I that is exactly what I am doing too. I feel like I always need a skill for every occasion! I shall try swapping between purely ranged and purely melee, to which I like more. Definitely enjoying magplar pvp as a whole.
@Brutusmax1mus I am on PS4 - EU server
