If you pay attention its not particularly punishing, the boss has a lot of special mechanics that stop him from directly attacking you. When he does attack you he's not hitting super hard.
Stomp, Lightning, breath, are all fairly easily avoidable, lighting is significantly less dangerous solo as there aren't a ton of people dragging AOE effects around the room.
