From Best to Worst. How would you rank the races in this game?

I'm curious to see what the results are.

This is purely based on racial passives. Please do not rank based on looks or ideology.

    1. Altmer, because of best magicka race. (looks and ideology fits too)
    2. Redguard (same for stamina)
    3. Dunmer (next best magicka)
    4. Imperial (next best stamina)
    5. Khajiit (crit!)
    6. Breton (average magicka)
    7. Argonian (good for healing and tanking)
    8. Orc (average stamina)
    9. Bosmer (look does not matter here)
    10. Nord... (sorry, Skyrim fanboys)

It's kinda hard but as far as an overall list goes

Altmer, Redguard, Argonian, Dunmer, Orc, Khajiit, Bosmer, Imperial, Breton, Nord

This is taking PVE and PVP performance as well as performance in role and across roles.

The best race is the race you want to play.

    DPS or basic play
    Magicka race: Altmer, Dunmer, Breton
Stamina Melee Race: Redguard, Orc, Nord, Imperial, Khajiit
    Stamina Ranged Race: Bosmer, Khajiit,
    Jack of all trades: Argonian

    Healer: Altmer, Breton, Argonian, Dunmer
Stam Tank: Imperial, Redguard, Orc, Nord, Argonian
Mag Tank: Dunmer, Altmer, Breton, Argonian

All of this comes with the caveat that the "ideal race" for a role really only matters at top tier play comparisons and somewhat in PVP (it'll just make your life easier in PVP, where you might as well grab every advantage you can). Picking an ideal race will make your life a little easier at any content level below trials, including vet dungeons, but is in no way necessary in order to complete content.

Or in other words, my Breton Stam Sorc would lose in a straight DPS contest with a Redguard Stam Sorc at the highest level, but if we both played well and knew what we were doing, both builds could complete all content in the game.

    • #10 Nord. My main, yet has probably weakest racial passives.
    • #09 Breton. I hate them. Beside that, they do not have very strong passives. Their damage is not good and some passives are useless in PvE
    • #08 Bosmer. If you are not PvP ganker, it is not very good race.
    • #07 Imperial. A lot of hp and stamina, but that is it. Red diamond is useless
    • #06 Khajiit. Not bad, but its passives force you to play as ganker. Since it has crit bonus and we are still in heavy attack meta, it is in better position than Bosmer. That stupid hp regen passive has to be changed.
    • #05 Orsimer. BiS for any stamina PvP, imho. Not bad at all.
    • #04 Redguard. Still most popular stam race out there, due to its regen. I dislike them.
    • #03 Saxhleel. Atm, BiS for any tanking or healing, PvE or PvP. sustain on this race is best in game.
    • #02 Altmer. If you wanna be magicka build, you pretty much cant make a mistake if you are this race. I dislike them, but they are strong DD magicka race.
    • #01 Dunmer. BiS magicka DD race for anything but mSorc. Extra stamina is very usefull in PvP.

obviously depends o stam or mag but in comparing apples to oranges i have them:

    1. dunmer - good all around , benefits to both pools, best race to play hybrid, and damage is great.
    2. redguard- best boost to its resource pool in the game, returning stam at the best rate- plus a massive pool to begin with.
    3. altmer- best straight up damage resource pool in the game

clear distance between those 3 races- and hence their popularity= Zos has made them that intentionally to get some balance int he alliances- to the next group - which are quite close to be honest.

    4. Imperial - similar to redguard- returning health from attacks is a big boon.
    5. Orc- my personal favourite. perfect for PvP- speed, damage, tankiness , everything you need- just dosent have the passives that are as good in pve though.
6+7. khajit + woodelf- similar- ideal for ganking- having the 2 best NB and ganking races in one alliance was dumb, hence why so many people curse AD. :)

    and a distant -

    8. argonian- healing is good but too specific.
    9. nord- only good for one role

Almost as pointless as this comment. Also these type of threads can reveal if there's an imbalance among the races. From what I've observed thus far it appears that Redguards and High Elves are at the top when it comes to stam DPS, and magicka DPS respectively. Argonians also seem to be the popular choice when it comes to healing or tanking.

One opinion that does seem consistent is that Nords are not viewed in a positive light at all. I've also see Wood Elves and Bretons near the bottom quite often as well.

I don't think nerfing Redguards or High Elves would be a good idea but the three bottom races do need to be more competitive.

I can see why Nords aren't popular. They seem geared towards being a tank, just one problem: they're not the best for tanking, and even get outshined by Argonians which are part of the same alliance.

Bretons have a great max stat passive which is great for damage, but get outshined by the Altmer's increase to elemental damage. The cost reduction is nice, but Altmer's still have better resource management with the increase to magicka regen. They have the spell resistance, but when your main defense is a damage shield the spell resistance is situationally useful.

It's easy to see why Wood Elves aren't popular. Anything they can do the Redguard can do better. The Redguard has more max stats, and adrenaline + 9% increase to stam regen gives the Redguards the best resource management in the game uncontested.

    Suggested Solutions:

Nords- more damage or more resource management. They're just not a good choice for anything right now. Rugged is a strong passive in PvP though so I wouldn't adjust that value. I would however merge Frost resistance with rugged, merge max stam with max health, and replace that health regen passive with something useful.

Bretons- Increase the cost reduction passive, and give them a passive that increases magic damage done.

Wood Elves- get rid of the stealth damage bonus and replace it with increased crit damage.

    1. Best tier: Altmer, Redgaurd, Orc, Dunmer, Agronian
    2. Decent tier: Bosmer, Khajiit, Breton.

Not much more to say, altmer rulz as best magicka race.
    Groupfinder:
The worst part is when it finally puts you in a group, your healer turns into a werewolf, your tank has 14k HP and the dps is heavy armor, using a restro staff and a two handed sword on the backbar. Then comes the 15 minute penalty before the cycle starts anew.

    Rulz of Morrowind:
    • The first rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • The second rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • Third rule of Morrowind: Someone yells NDA stuff, uploads images, streams, the game is over.
    • Fourth rule: only invited players can test.
    • Fifth rule: one invite at a time, fellas.
    • Sixth rule: crying or bashing on pts.
    • Seventh rule: NDA will go on as long as they have to.
    • And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first invite at Morrowind, you have to play.

Edit: racial passives really need to be rethought

They should just remove them already. Keep the fluff first line ones like more AP for Bretons etc.. but remove the rest.

The best idea is to create new options at character select, where (like Oblivion) you can choose what "stars" you were born under and get extra passives based on that. Choose 3 out of the nine possible stars, similar to how the CP system is split up.

This way you are free to play your Magicka Sorcerer Bosmer and they can still have magicka bonuses if they choose the more magicka based stars.

I think this would make everyone happy.
