I Can Double Summon Sorcerer Pets

Lately I’ve been able to double summon pets with my Sorcerer, and was wondering if this intentional or not. I literally just summon 1 scamp, and then summon another. I’m still steadily returning to the game, and was curious if this is a new feature or something. Did a DPS test with my double scamps, and can hit around 48k solo (no one providing Elemental Drain for me or wearing Worm’s Raiment). And that’s with a half-assed rotation that’s rusty. And that’s with just double scamps. If tested with double Twilights, I can probably hit ~55k parses.

Here’s a picture of them in my character sheet while I was doing the daily pledges.

Note: I’ve tried turning off my console, closing the application, and swapping characters. I can still come back and double summon. Lol. So any feedback on this will be appreciated, as I’m a PetSorc main, and am adoring this. :p

+1 insightful and very interesting. I suppose it’s harmless (to a degree) from what I’ve gathered in that thread you linked, and I’m certain ZOS is aware of it (and has been for quite some time). Very well then. I shall continue on with my multiple pets. Thanks for the info.

I've still never double-summoned a pet before and I have played Magicka Sorc as my main since console launch. How do people do this stuff?? lol

It’s simple. You just summon 1 pet, and then summon it again. Lol. That’s it. No tricks involved, to be honest. No glitch. No exploit. Just casually double summoning. And when you get good with it, you can have 2 familiars and 2 twilights with you. Resulting in things getting melted very fast. Although, if I try to do it a third time — it of course fails. And it simply just does the pet’s special ability (e.g. familiar pulse). So, I can’t do 3 or more of each pet. Only 2 at max.

But what I’m curious about, is how folks are summoning 2 and 3 Storm Atronachs. That’s some pretty dope stuff, if you ever get a chance to see it. Not so dope on the receiving end, however. Lol.

IF the pet dups function, do dmg etc. using this bug intentionally is most likely a punishable offence.

There is also a related bug where the pet gets summoned twice, but isn't a separate instance of the pet.

Here is the thing though. It can’t be done, unless there is a delay/desync of sorts in the casting of the ability in question. Making lag the golden key in all of this. Lag somehow can cause the game to enable this, and so much more. Although again, I have no idea how people are dropping multiple Storm Atronach ultimates. Perhaps lag is behind that as well.

Now. The weird part. You’ll actually do it unintentionally as well. And if you attempt to de-summon 1 of them, you’ll lose both of them. And if you try only summoning 1, you’ll summon 2 automatically. Even without making the attempt to summon the second. Kind of like how your character can get stuck in the animation of doing a light or heavy attack with a destruction staff at an enemy that is already dead. And they end-up fully charging a heavy attack regardless of whether or not you provided that command. It’s wonky like that. Had multiple buddies experience this.

I've tried but it won't work :/ can it only be done during lagfests in PvP? In non-laggy PvE scenarios (where I am currently trying to replicate it) I am having no luck. If I spam the pet button I'll constantly summon/desummon my pet - the currently summoned version will repeatedly die.

I would sure as heck hope not, because when you summon a pet and then tap the summon key again to trigger its special ability, if it gets summoned twice it's not your fault, and how the heck are you going to use its special ability unless you tap that key twice? Basically, if ZOS punishes that, they'd be saying the people who have this bug can't use the pets at all.

(I don't have that bug, btw.)

You've played long enough to know that zos considers exploiting bugs to be cheating. Remember the temp bans for the writ exploit, or the warewolf exploit.
You signed an agreement that said you wouldn't exploit bugs. So there's that.

My point was that it would mean that people with that bug would never be able to use the pet's special ability again for fear of double-summoning the pets. It would mean they essentially could never play a sorceror, which would be IMMMENSELY unfair.
Obviously, ZOS needs to work to fix this bug, if they can, not punish people who use their pets. (They aren't at the moment, thankfully.)

Hmmm....never happened to me, thank all the daedra, as I use my pets for healing and I'd die pretty quick.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

That’s actually how I came about discovering this. Or rather experiencing it for the first time. Lol. Was in Cyrodiil with my Sorcerer trying to bring out my Twilight for a heal, and in summoning it and activating its ability (or so I thought) — another Twilight spawned rather than me receiving a heal. Was like, “Ummm... Let me see something right quick.” And proceeded with summoning 2 Familiars. Lol. Immediately left Cyrodiil, and then started experimenting and testing like crazy with some buddies. Never figured out how to summon multiple atronachs like I’ve seen, but I’m sure people have gotten that to a science as well. And mind you, this is all on PS4. No CE or modified hex values. None of that is going on. Just straight up lag manipulation.

I can’t double summon them currently, as there isn’t any lag strong enough for the desync to trigger this phenomenon. Either that, or ZOS hotfixed it (which I strongly doubt lol). But anyway, once you get the initial double cast within a PvP environment (BG or Cyrodiil), you can replicate it in PvE environments with ease. Whether it be: In a town, VMA, a dungeon (hence my screen shot), etc. But a PvP-based location combined with lag is the enabler/trigger for this to occur.

Side note... Why do I feel like I’m explaining a Pokémon glitch? Brings me back to the days of explaining to my classmates how to obtain Mew or Missingno without GameShark or any outside devices. :D

Ahh I see. It needs to trigger first, then it works normally. I’m almost afraid to try this one though  the thought of getting 7 other Mag Sorcs to do this with me and doing a trial with 8 mag Sorcs w/ 4 pets each is so tempting....

Btw, I’d imagine the Storm Atro could probably be double-summoned the same way, or through a tricky move with Overload. Overload can be used for a lot of questionable tactics.

all I got instead was pet disappearing on me if I hit summon button to fast. over and over. and usually if I'm trying to frantically hit that particular button is becasue I'm healing and people are standing in fire and I really really REALLY need some burst heals :/ does this only work with specific morphs or something? am I the compensation for all you double pet people, with the game not letting me have even one?
