Best medium house?

In your opinion, what is the best medium house? Medium houses are in the price range of 190,000- 340,000 gold. So which one is your favorite and/ or which one is the best bang for your buck? I am looking to buy a house but but don't want to spend more than 400,000 gold at most. Do you think I should instead buy one of the smaller homes or save up for the Mansions ( even though I only have 50k total ).

My favorite is the Velothi Reverie in Narsis, Deshaan. It has three levels and a yard, with high rafters to hang banners from and/or build another floor. The location isn't very good, but few of the medium houses are in useful/nice places.

When I buy a (game) house, I think first about what I want the house to do/be: convenient free port? Show off furnishings? Room to build new structures or floors? Storage for furnishing items? Different houses are good for different things. Some of the small houses are in really convenient places and they're a good way to start decorating without breaking the bank. (And they're good for storage.) Mediums are more ambitious to furnish, but you have enough item slots to do interesting things with the space.

I still haven't bought a large house because it would cost a fortune to furnish, despite my crafting bag full of materials. >>

Depends what you want to do with it. I chose Mournoth for several reasons ... I liked the exterior, the material used for the home was visually appealing and fit well with the surroundings. I liked having 2 stories with very useable outdoor space. The outdoor space seems to have more vibrant coloring ... I'm not a fan of the styles that play heavily into more muted warm toned coloring.

The exterior is what sold me on this home and is where I focused my creativity. However, if your focus will be indoors, then this may not be what you are looking for. The first floor can be sectioned off into 3 large areas, but upstairs you will have either one spacious area or two small ones .... depending on configuration.

I love bosmer style and lore, eldenroot is a masterpiece, so naturally (no pun intended) I choose bouldertree refuge. Two decent sized snugpods which are built high enough where you can build a loft in each. A small yard on each side with plenty of space to accommodate whatever you need.

I've managed to fit all the crafting stations with their own tents, a dueling arena, target dummy smacking area, and a trophy room.

If you don't like that style i would choose the new velothi harbor in morrowind. That's my next purchase for sure, I have so many ideas!

You get a lot of bang for your buck with that one. It has a nice yard and two decent sized floors. I just wish it was stationed in Belkarth instead.

It will likely do me until I manage to put together 3 million for my chateau..

It all depends on what is fun for you.

I have several houses, but the one I've played around with (and furnished weirdly and enthusiastically) is HumbleMud.

Or as Broken Branch Toothmaul likes to call it: the Goblin Hall of Awesomeness!

I just started thinking, okay, what would a ... differently view-pointed goblin have in her house?

Awesome place for the price. Magnificent views, 3 stories, stunning. Lots of rooms to work with.

Charming location with a large open plan area downstairs and a private loft for yourself. lovely courtyard out the back, perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day hunting vampires.

Located right next to the kings palace you couldn't ask for a more prestigious home. With wonderful archways and a dome ceiling to die for, this is house is not to be passed up!

Personally I have bought The Ample Domicile, though my reason for that was to build something very.... different. lol

I recommend determining what type of home you want first. Jungle homes, sandy homes, typical wooden homes, etc. Decide from there which you like best by previewing them. It is all preference.

I don't have a house yet, just the room at the in in Ebonheart, but I've got my eye on Hundings Palatial Manor (?). I just love the outdoors area with the beach. I love the coloring there, its so nice and bright. I don't like many of the homes because the walls look mildewy and dank. I do like the Lake Amaya house in Vvardenfell but its a bit impractical with the different levels. I wouldn't buy a home with no outdoors. Wish I could plant some herbs and flowers tho.

ETA: I guess I should read properly but it is late and I'm tired - now I see your price range and I'm way off the mark. so the House of Silent Magnifico is nice.

I prefer small homes, but if I was to go for something larger, it would be the house near Rawl'kha. It has a great yard, a simple internal layout, and it's conveniently close to an Outlaws Refuge.

If you want a large house but no garden; Grymharts Woe (280K gold) in Windhelm. It is a nord home with few details, but easy to furnish.

I myself have that house and I picked it because of the size. At first I wanted Strident Springs Demense (1,28 million gold) but after spending a lot of time in SSS on PTS, I found out I really did not like gardens and I hated the tiny cramped rooms in it. Grymharts Woe has a lot of open space and not much separate rooms.

Edit; It is very close to the outlaws refuge, and it has two exits! TWO!

But honestly after an hour the lack of function in housing makes the novelty factor wear off fast.

If you are just starting out with home-owning, for the moment you would do better to go for a medium house (be careful which one you choose, as lots of the so-called medium houses are not much bigger than the small ones). Not only are the manors very expensive, but also they and some of the large houses are far to big to be able to decorate nicely within the current item cap. If you choose a medium house you will be able to decorate it far more satisfactorily, especially if you are ESO+....and this will make it a lot more fun.

Ravenhurst, which is in the Breton style, is my favourite medium house. With good management you can get a huge amount of bang for your buck out of it.

It has a large openplan groundfloor, in which it is easy to create three or four good-sized separate rooms if you want (I used Orc block platforms, which are the perfect size for walls). Above it has a second floor which doesn't cover the whole area, but I used wide planks covered with carpets, and hey presto three more bedrooms! Looks better from below as well to have wooden ceiling covering the whole thing.

Outside there is a smallish garden, but it goes round three sides of the house and is plenty big enough to get creative, with room for nice seating areas.

All this comes to you at a cost of 260,000g.

The other medium house I really love is the House of the Silent Magnifico, which is in the Redguard style. I've almost finished doing that one up, and really enjoyed it. There is no garden, but I created one in the central 'courtyard' area (with palm trees and exotic plants) so as the house is built around it, all the downstairs rooms open out onto it. The courtyard/garden is full height to the roof, so you can look down over it from everywhere upstairs. It just needs a small fountain in the middle to be perfect..... /pokes @ZO$.

And this one costs 320,000g.

You could go for the manors and larger houses later on when you have more gold, or can buy them with crowns. Then it's fun to see how far you can make your item cap stretch....but frustrating when you hit the limit with half your manor and its grounds still unfurnished.

Out of the larger properties, my favourite is Hundings Palatial Hall, which is classed as a large house but is as big as a manor at less than half the price. It is also very beautiful, with its own beach etc. I still haven't finished that one, as the item cap is far too low.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the small houses if you want a more spacious main home, as they are usually only one room....some folks say they are cosy, I call them poky!!

Domus Phrasticus is a great choice only downside to it being its away from town / convenient wayshrine but one of the best possible places u can decorate with ease and continue to enjoy it.

Are you looking for the most square footage or the least expensive after decorations are added to the cost? I went with a small medium house, Cliffshade. It was decorated very quickly and I spent a relatively small amount on furniture. With a smaller area and 200 furniture item limit you can also pay more attention to detail, adding tiny things where you'd expect to find them and the end result is a good looking house.

Sleek Creek has nice architecture, great scenery, is right next to an outlaw refuge, and not far from one of the major trader location.

Sleek Creek is great for location. Cat furniture is very meh.

I personally love the Amaya Lake Lodge, Autumns Gate and Hundings palace the best.

Best overall value is Autumns Gate.

Twin Arches is nice - its a medium house(73k gold). I bought it for certain reasons and since found out it was not exactly what I thought. BUT it is pretty and is workable. It has a nice sized yard and isn't to far from a wayshire.

Autumns Gate is nice(60K gold) its a single level - I didn't want it at first, but it is the first house I 100% completed. Its in the Rift and has a fenced in yard. Very close to a town with a wayshire.

Velothi Reveris is one of my top favorite houses (323K gold) I saved every gold coin i got my hand on for that one. I LOVE it although i'm not done decorating it.

The next one I want is the Fen Cottage which comes out with the Festival. It will be 295k gold. I am a WHISPER short of having that amount saved.

But as an FYI I want the Wrothgar house (cavern?) that's coming out with the clockwork city DLC. I don't know how much its going to cost at all. So I may just retry for the witch house next year and save my gold for that.

But the way I pick is what feels right - if you have a number of toons let them go preview the house. (I know that sounds crazy but it worked lol). To me each toon has their own house. One that works for them..but keep us posted on what you get for sure ^_^

I'm quite partial to Velothi Reverie. First home I purchased, and I purchased it with gold so I've decorated it all myself.

What I like about it is that it's three levels with good-sized rooms. It has a small backyard, but I don't care about decorating outdoors, so having a lot of interior space is what drew me, that and the fact that it's Dunmer style (though the stone is dark, so you have to use lots of lights).

If you want a good balance of indoor/outdoor, I think Ravenhurst is a good choice. I haven't purchased it yet, but it's on my list.

I have Ald Velothi Reverie and that's also a good choice for indoor/outdoor space balance - though the outside is rather uneven, so it's not as easy to decorate. But, inside there are three floors with a couple of distinct rooms.

Lots of people have mentioned Domus Phrasticus, which I think is a great medium home with great outdoor space. Indoors feels a little cramped to me, but my biggest issue is that it's one of the worst offenders for the outside not matching the inside in terms of the placement of windows, etc.

For ease of decorating, if you don't care about having an outside space, both Cliffshade and Grymharth's Woe are excellent. You can just concentrate on decorating the inside and can really get into detail since you don't have to use up slots on an outdoor space.

Twin Arches is a pretty good deal for a small home. It's the largest of the small homes and has an outdoor space. And, for 73K it's not too pricey. I think Autumn's Gate is also a great choice in the small homes category, as the outside is larger, but the inside still has quite a bit of room. And, it's only 60K.

All have exteriors, and one can do alot with the 400 item limit.

Mournoth Keep is by far the biggest one. It's the same size as some large houses (like Dawnshadow).

The only problem is that it only has an item limit of 400 (with ESO+). That makes it a challenge to decorate.

Ald Velothi Harbour House, Domus Phrasticus, and Velothi Reverie are also nicely sized options.

I farm my way to the wayshrines.

Also, a merchant is at the daggerfall camp right next door.

You can build up to walk on the parapets, but the invisible ceiling stops you from making a roof deck.

Also, Velothi Reverie has a provisioning station and chef/brewer/merchant right outside the front door. There's also a blacksmithing station in town and the wayshrine is pretty close. Plus there are several harvest nodes behind the house and the lake next to the wayshrine has some good harvest nodes around it. It's how I kept up my private stock of Nirnroot when it was heavily needed for alchemy writs.
