    Hi guys,
I'm just curious though since my NB is level 3 how many levels I would get from completing both quild quest lines? or should I wait till level 50 to do them? What would be the best way to do this?

    Thanks :)

Not sure on how many levels you would get. But I would hold off on the TG until you have some skill points to spare for the nice passives you get from that guild. You do get some points for the TG stages, but not enough to invest in all the passives you may want. The FG Main Quest is not all that fat on Exp Points, so not too many levels with that.

Also, there are times that either Persuasion or Intimidation is nice to have for questing, so all my characters join both FG and MG even if they ignore them otherwise, just so I have those passives.

I have only been able to get one character to join the DB, all the rest avoid it. I have been talking to my MagSorc about the DB, but she just gives me that look and walks away from me muttering something about blood and manicures.

Oddly enough, it was fairly easy for my Dunmer magsorc to be convinced to join both the DB and TG. The benefits to her family (which is not yet of considerable status) and her own reputation, and to the mishmash group of sellswords, scoundrels, and scholars she's found herself a part of were quite persuasive. Besides, if she dislikes getting her hands dirty, she can simply wear gloves.

The one topic on which she stubbornly refuses to be moved is that of vampirism, which I think offends her vanity more than anything else. Promises of power and resilence and immortatility, and the attempt to convince her that the whole blood thing probably isn't too terrible once you get used to it, have all been met with "Blood at least washes off."

Granted, this seems to be a common viewpoint for this adventuring band. None of the current 8 members are willing to give in to this particular strain of night music.

    Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to this game and I've decided that even know you get perks and things from treelines in guilds i'd rather RP it and keep each character in their respective guilds I know it might not be important to some people but in my head it feels wrong to have a Mage who joins the dark brotherhood...or a Dragonknight that joins the mages guild. So at the expense of missing out on some perks I've decided to do things how I feel they should be done. My mage ofcourse is honorable mage who is searching for books to progress her mages guild story and my Nightblade (which I just made.) He's going to be a Thief and join the thieves guild and eventually the dark brotherhood. I'm just curious though since my NB is level 3 how many levels I would get from completing both quild quest lines? or should I wait till level 50 to do them? What would be the best way to do this?

    Thanks :)

It feels wrong to have a mage in the fighter's guild, or a DK in the mage's guild? Have you never heard of a battlemage, or a spellsword? The mage's guild even has an order of warriors that are part of the mage's guild who protect the squishy mages in dangerous areas. It's called the Order of the Lamp (in case you wanted to look it up). Also, the fighter's guild is basically a lawful mercenary guild, and there's nothing that says that a mercenary cannot be a mage. Also, you don't need to be a "sneak-thief" to be part of the DB of course. There's an Orc in Oblivion who in part of it, and he wears heavy armor, and fights with a 2H axe. (http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Gogron_gro-Bolmog)

Yeah but the point is I"M NOT A BATTLE MAGE. What are you not understanding about that? I'm not going to be a mage and go do the fighters guild same goes for brotherhood and thieves guild. It's how I choose to play and I'm not going to be shoe horned into doing a guild that I don't believe I belong in.

I didn't say that you're a battlemage. I said that there are battlemages who would join both guilds. There's really no reason to get so upset.

I've done both quest-lines, and I recommend doing Thieve's Guild first, so it's good that's what you were planning anyway. The reason is 1) Thieve's Guild is a little easier, and, more importantly, 2) Thieve's Guild gives you some passive skills that reduce your bounty if you get caught stealing/killing, and has a great skill called Clemency that gives you a once-a-day "get out of jail free" card ... that is, once a day you can escape from a guard if he catches you stealing/killing. (By "escape" I mean he'll decide to let you off the hook, and he'll just walk away the first time he catches you.)

You don't have to wait until level 50 to do either quest-line, though.

DB also has some passive skills that reduce a bounty for killing, but trust me, you really want to get Clemency first before you start the DB stuff.

Actually, You should do the "intro" quest for dark brotherhood first to get Blade of Woe. Will make sneaking around when doing thieves guild quests MUCH easier when you can "assassinate" annoying NPC's. You'll still need to avoid the guards though (you'll see a nice big blue ring around them). You can't get close...even while stealthing. I'd also highly recommend using Night's Silence 5pc set so you can move at normal speed when sneaking. Will help on the timed heists so you get the bonus reward.

from a perspective of "do I need those quests to level" no. you do not. i have no idea how many levels the storyline gives you, but this game has a ridiculous amount of options to help you hit lvl 50 and then some without having to do something that you would rather not do in a roleplaying sense. plus- you may not want to join the guilds, but you can still travel to the zones and grab skyshards for skill points /do the delves/occasional stand alone quest not related to main story - yes?

Listen here, if you are stuck with stereotypes from other rpg/mmos then eso and elder scrolls games are not for you. Fighters guilds are mercenaries which are hired to do tasks and can be mages! Fighters guild passives are a must in endgame content. You can choose to have a handicap because your rp but as an rper I joined all guilds for skill points and rp as I didnt... Fighters guild and mages guild accept both mages and melee fighters, and all characters use magic to some extent

I gave my characters a personality I tried to keep to doing the main quests and quest lines in each zone. Had one that always told the truth no matter the consequences. One took the shortest/easiest route and one always did the most profitable option. When it came to the other quest lines on one character I did everything the others I did enough to get the skills I wanted on them to help with group content. I didn't think of a reason why they would join each guild I just did it.

You might consider your DK can better deal with enemy mages if he better understands them. What better way to understand them than to study them closely. Your DK could refuse to use mages skills while going through the mages guild quest line whenever possible. His own skills get better and he comes out with a better understanding of what makes mages tick. When he feels the experience no longer has anything to offer him he can quit.

Other guild quests such as dark brotherhood maybe do those really early in your characters development and then make it a part of his past he wishes he had never been a part of and refuses to talk about?

Obviously don't feel you must do these quest lines or the game will not be as fun and it should of course be all about the fun. When you get to endgame and group content you might have a slight disadvantage but most people will not mind unless they are trying for leader boards or perfect vet runs.

Since housing came out I decided to express my characters personality through their homes. Each character gets their own home. When it comes to decorating with trophies and achievement furniture they can only use what they have earned. Has made me go back on a few of them and play some content I skipped. So far has been a fun way to go back and visit areas I haven't been to for a while.
