resetting skill points

I am considering to reset my skill points, but have a few questions.

1. Does everything fall back to level 1?
2. Since the update "hides" some skill trees, will that happen to me when I reset the points?
3. I have some points in the hireling skills (the ones that send to mats). I will put the points back into those skills, but will the hirelings start anew with their story and all? I found them quite amusing.

1. no, the skills keep their level, just need to put a skill point back into them
2. no, nothing gets hidden
3. not sure, never read the hireling messages...

Once skills are learned, or leveled, they stay that way even if you have not invested the skill points. If you put the points back in, you get the skill back the same way. Now, if you choose a Morph that you have not used yet, that will be at Stage 1.

Once a skill line is learned, it is unlocked. So, it won't be hidden even if you have no points invested.

Hirelings stories do not reset, unfortunately.

And, finally, you can just reset your Morphs, handy for most respecs' as it keeps all your passives and what not invested. But, if your wanting to recover points you put into crafting or a weapon you no longer use, then a full respec is the way to do that.

I have a question regarding the morphs now you mentioned it.
Why do they level up? Do I get more damage (for example), if the morph is level 2 and not 1?

I just wish you could change morphs separately instead of them all resetting...

It costs 50 gold per point. Obviously resetting just the morphs is way cheaper since fewer points are reset. Reset altars are located in Vivec City, Elden Root, Mournhold and Wayrest and the altar icon looks somewhat like an hourglass with a hole in it.

1) The skill tree rank is not reset, it will stay at the same rank. Also any base skills and their morph will stay at the same rank where you trained. You may end up unable to re-morph some skills if you leveled their base skills before Morrowind patch and that skill has been moved down the skill tree, thus requiring more XP to reach rank IV+ and be morphable.

2) Nothing will be hidden if you already discovered it. You may in fact recover some hidden skill points if you were vampire or werewolf, put some points in those skill lines, then subsequently got cured; curing the disease hides the skill tree but does not refund the skill points.

3) Hireling won't be affected if you reset your skills and put points back in before their 12h or 24h cooldown runs out.

Yes, sometimes the damage or duration increases, sometimes the cost decreases, etc. But the difference isn't huge, it's sometimes just 1% change per skill level.

Others have already answered you, but I want to let you know that resetting skill points get more expensive as you accumulate more invested skill points. So it's cheaper to reset early than late. Also experimenting with skills/builds early helps you learn the class better too. Gets kind of expensive to do that later on.

Is it possible to reset not a single morph but a single skill? I couldn't find anything about that. That would save me some money, as I now figured out, what I want to do.
