I had some free crowns and I bought it. It looks great after all. Maybe I'll use it later, when real transmog finally arrive.

@MissBizz Without a set date though. Technically spellcrafting was "being worked on and coming" 3 years ago... Until I see it in the PTS, I don't get my hopes up... Easier to be suprised with joy than disappointed repeatedly with failed expectations.

The only thing I found appealing at all was the #3 set mask (heavy armor?), which was basically a ripoff of Marvel Comic's Taskmaster.

Actually I damned like the look of the swords, daggers and shields from Grim Harlekin. Never regretted the purchase. Maybe I just regret that I bought it for more than 2,2k crowns once.

As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

No, retraiting items is. Changing the motif is not on PTS (so far as I know.)

While I agree they look similar I wouldn't say a ripoff, that also ain't even the original Taskmaster. My boy used to look legit like a skeleton man. This new look has a more artificial look to him. I think when working with a design as generic as a skull and trying to turn it into any sort of variation, you're going to have a very hard time not looking like other media.

It's better you don't. Also don't buy Frostcaster.

It's extremely profitable for me to sell the trait gems at super higher prices to the people who want them :) The more owners, the more these will appear/be created by players, lowering my grip on the market :)

Assuming "Taskmaker" didn't copy any media. I do not like the motif set and am glad it is one they picked to be crown only.

Work well enough on Julianos and hurdling trough. So you can probably use it.

If not you have very good gear or no dungeon queue :)
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Yes, I'm very aware that's not the original Taskmaster. I'm actually old enough to remember when the original went into print.
But the mask is too similar to be dismissed as coincidental.

The Grim Harlequin weapons are pretty awesome too ...

But that gets back to what the OP is alluding to ... if you don't like it don't buy it, if you like it buy it.

I'm not going to waste my time convincing others to buy it if someone's tastes are vanilla different.

Thats a terrible comparison. Spellcrafting would have had a direct impact on gameplay and balance. It had the potential to either be great, terrible or OP. But it was always going to impact the game.

Transmog has no direct impact on gameplay and balance. Its no more impactful than dyes or costumes. The chances of it making it into the game is a heck of a lot greater than something that could have potentially broke the game and devastated ESOs playerbase.

I thought it wasn't that great too until I saw the heavy variant which I think is pretty badass, IMO. Just dye it black and orange(ish) and you're officially set for Halloween!

@MissBizz but we don't know even approximately how it's going to work, nor a timeline for when they're looking to launch it. The first one, of course, being more important since we at least know it will come at some point.

Will it even be based on motif knowledge? Will there be additional per-use costs, or will it work like all the good parts of the cosmetic system, like mounts, dyes, and skins? And if there IS an associated cost, is there going to at least be a preview system so we can experiment with a full outfit before committing? Will it be transforming an individual item's look, or be an override for that slot like costumes? If only transforming an individual item, can we at least make it appear to be any of the three armor weights, or are we stuck with the original armor weight? How will unique item skins be handled, like undaunted helms/shoulders and maelstrom weapons? For that matter, will we even get to transmog weapons at all, or just armor? Shields? So many question!!

Why would any non RP player buy a motif with crowns or even ingame gold?
I need a monster set, so no matter how good a helm/shoulder style looks I will never craft one.

I need a dropped set so no matter how many styles I've got on my display I'll never use them.

Despite that, motif farming helps in gold making. It goes to show that the massive majority of players RP and play the story, instead of wasting their gold in improving their gear, buy gear, have stock of potions/poisons, which are needed for competitive play.

I believe that the fact that crafting did not include appearance alteration was a major overlook by zos and the fact that it took them so long to implement a request from the player base is an even bigger mistake.

When you are not on top of things you lose subscriptions and ppl don't pay for dungeon/new story DLCs.
