IP ban question

I just moved and received a new modem from Xfinity. Everything is working great, except ESO, which I can't access at all. Is it possible that my provider has assigned me a new public IP address which has a ban on it?

I have a support ticket which hasn't been answered yet, and also posted in the support forums:

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/373605/cant-access-game-or-account-page

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    It's possible.

It also might be a firewall issue.

I've disabled both the firewall on the router and on my PC, and it didn't make any difference unfortunately.

Check your account email for one from Zenimax requiring you to respond and enter a new code for the new IP they don't recognize.

I haven't received that email, I can't even log in to the NA server to get to that prompt. If I switch to the EU server, I can log in just fine, and I did receive that prompt and the email, which worked ok.

Turn your quark processor on your RAMboard to emulate 40.86GHz bandwaves to bypass the Intel firewall.

It's possible but probably very unlikely statistically speaking.

I'd suggest starting a tech support ticket.

Also the normal restarting PC, modem and whatever.

Edit: and yes, as someone pointed out the likely culprit is with a new IP you likely got s message Zos was sending you a code my email. That's the second check to prevent accounts getting hacked.

The reason I'm thinking it's something like an IP ban, is if I connect using a VPN, then it all works great. Of course, going from a 1GB connection to a 3MB one isn't an option for playing, but i can log in and the visit the account page.

Probably easier to ask Comcast for a new IP than ZOS to lift a banned IP.

Sounds like IP issue for sure. Forums can't help you. Work with ZOS like you're doing to get it fixed.

Or this too. If you want to shell out some extra monthly $$, get a static IP address.

True, however getting hold of a Comcast support person that has any idea what I'm talking about is the tough part.

When ESO support responds, I can provide them my public IP address, and at least they should be able to tell me if that's the issue or not.

Not sure if this will help you or not but, you could try flushing your DNS after the change of routers.

It may not be a "banned IP" and might be your service provider to blame. Some can be slow with changes.

Yeah one of the first things I tried. This is what I've tried already..

1 - reboot router and PC
2 - flush DNS on PC
3 - disable Firewall on PC
4 - disable Firewall on router
5 - disable antivirus on PC
6 - change DNS on PC to Googles public one
7 - add PC to DMZ on router

Sometimes I use a vpn to play eso if that means anything. I'm suggesting it's not an ip ban.

just unplug your cable modem overnight...When you turn it back on, you should get another IP address assigned without the need to contact the POS Comcast tech support.

Most ISP's assign dynamic IP addresses. If your cable modem is offline for a few hours, the lease will expire, and when it's detected again, another IP address will be assigned.

Well apparently ESO support are going to be of no help, I got this response to my ticket:

"Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team. My name is *****, and I'd be happy to assist you today. We wont be able to check if your IPS is banned. Please let us know whether this resolves your issue. We look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you for your continued interest and support!"

So, how in the [snip] would that response resolve my issue?

That is a classic tier-1 customer support answer (regardless of the service). Reopen the ticket if your problem persists.

Amazing you got 15 min response from a mod to edit your post though.
Too bad they aren't trained to direct people to proper solutions.
I mean they even moved it to the PC support section where you would think support would read once in a while.

It is possible for your IP block to be on a router IP Blacklist. I remember one time trying to get to a particular web site and although most of my friends in different areas of the country could access the site, I couldn't. It took a bit of digging and eventually found that a provider had blacklisted a certain block of Comcast IP addresses, including mine. Time to do some traces and see where it's being blocked. We had to go to the sites administrator to have them contact the provider to have the block removed.

I had Comcast issue me a new modem, which has fixed the issue since it has a different public IP attached to it.

    Thanks for all the advice.
