That being said I do make other 'temporary' characters which only really serve a cosplay kinda purpose, they rarely last more than a few days before they get sent to Sovngarde!

I really see no point in doing more than 2, maybe 3 characters of the same class; 1, maybe 2 of each type, stamina and magicka. It's far more advantageous to develop many skills and have multiple builds for the same character. I have 14 characters and frankly I only had time to play 4 of them. And I play a lot, played almost daily for the last 2 years. I just don't have the time to level-grind more than a few alts to be useful to me.
My only concern is that having a huge number of available slots to fill might entice some unsavory types to use botting or power-leveling "services" to build up quickly... which would be bad for the game, and ZOS would have to be on the lookout for it. So... that leaves using Crown purchases to insta-level additional toons if you want, but then it becomes a status thing for the "whales"...
So having it is probably easy. Making it work well might be a little harder.0 -

Yes, but 99% of players aren't botters, and they shouldn't be punished or denied a service because botters exist. How anyone can have more than that running is beyond me, I mean HOW MUCH TIME do you have on your hands if you have 14 toons all at top lvl?
Enough to level, slowly but surely, all 28 of my characters to 50.
I would happily have forty slots per server to play with.
You see, I have so many chars I've made on the PTS who don't exist on the live servers, their details all saved.
So, why? You may well ask...
I like variety, and I also like to roleplay such a variety of characters.
No, we shouldn't have to have multiple accounts: *cough* Collections... *cough*

But if I test my theory out, delete 10 of my characters. If I was wrong, I would loose out of everything. Including my hard work. But if my theory was correct and does play a role.
