Random Dungeon? Or should we call it Random White Gold Tower?

I have been Q-ing for random dungeons while leveling my toon and am getting WGT pop up disproportionally more. Like 2/3 of all dungeons is either WGT or if not that one, another DLC dungeon. I haven't even completed all the quests of the dungeons because they haven't popped in the Q. Yet i have Q'd more than 50+ dungeons and gotten/completed WGT at least 25 times out of those 50 "randoms" : /

Random white gold tower anyone????

That may be true but youre neglecting the fact that a dlc dungeon will inevitably be a daily. so if you have eso plus, theres still a good chance of getting a dlc dungeon and more likely the dlc dungeon daily

it is unfortunate eso plus hurts those who try random dailies

Indeed, it's WGT or nothing at all :D. The second one I've had enough of is Blackheart Haven. For me it's like these two in 2:1 ratio. I usually queue for both random vet and normal, but since random vet queues are muuuuch shorter for DDs, it's vet 99% of time.

Interestingly enough, I had no problem completing vWGT recently. I mean, the group I get is always at least decent. People know mechanics and follow them. Quite a few times the group was good enough so we could simply burn inhibitor, ignoring mechanics (you need like 75-80k burst dps, but with warhorn and ults it's not that hard - if both DDs can pull 30k+ on a 3M dummy, they can burn inhibitor in 45 secs with buffs and ults ready).

Keep in mind that when One Tamriel dropped and the entire gameworld became accessible to players because of battle-leveling, ZOS did not remove the level gates in random group finder on certain dungeons. Therefore, if you start running random dungeons right away as a low-level player, you have a smaller number of dungeons that you can access.

Now if you are also an ESO+ subscriber or simply own the DLCs, ZOS thinks that you should have immediate access to the content you paid for. That means that along with the smaller number of dungeons you have access to at low levels, you also have a really good chance to randomly get a DLC dungeon that is meant to be one of the hardest in the game.

This thread has a good list of the level gates: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/296685/increase-the-minimum-level-to-queue-for-the-dlc-dungeons

I'll quote the most relevant portion:

You need to be level 38 to queue for the zone-5 dungeons. And if I recall correctly, you need to be level 45 to queue for Vaults of Madness.
Is that still true? I was assuming (but haven't checked yet) that One Tamriel has removed the level restriction on queuing.
    Yes, it is.
    • Zone 1 dungeons: level 10
    • Zone 2 dungeons: level 17
    • Zone 3 dungeons: level 24
    • Zone 4 dungeons: level 31
    • Zone 5 dungeons: level 38
    • Vaults of Madness: level 45

The level gate goes up in increments of 7. The storyline 2 dungeons share the same level gate as their storyline 1 counterpart. I propose that the DLC dungeons share the same level gate as Vaults.

Yes, you can... if you wayshrine or walk into the dungeon normally. We're talking about the Group Finder's level gate. If people want to do a dungeon at level 3, they can--it'll just be a more deliberate action by the player.

Please note that you can still choose to enter those dungeons deliberately, but you will not be queued for them in random normals.

So if you own the Imperial City DLC or are an ESO+ subscriber, yes, you are getting queued for WGT or other DLC dungeons a lot because its a pledge and/or because it makes up a good portion of the dungeons the random normal groupfinder can pick from at your level. Currently and in the foreseeable future, ZOS does not include a way to exclude dungeons from the random normal queue. ZOS also has not tried to remove the level gates for random normals, which I think is unfortunate because Vaults of Madness is not so difficult that it should be locked to level 45.

Hope that helps! Good luck with White-Gold Tower.

I mean, its not that I find them difficult. Its just - i get so tired of having the same thing over and over. Also people complaining on forums about low levels q-ing for dlc. Well its not exactly the low levels choice to do so. And plus- the dlc dungeons are longer than non-dlc so if i want to do a quick random and get mazzatun on my new lvl10 lowbie.... its just... ahh.

P.s please dont tell me not to q unless i am higher level. That is not what this is about.

    1. Pledge was WGT
    2. It was the tougher pledge of the day so more people needed to use Group Finder
    3. You got queued for WGT more than other dungeons

..... it's really not much of a mystery.

This. Many players dont realize this.

Problem perpetuates itslef since higher(ish) level players are queuing for normal wgt (or any dlc dungeon really) because its the daily pledge and low level eso+ players are queuing up for random normals for exp.

If you are queueing for random vets the only influencer is what the pledges are for the day really since you cant queue for vets until 50 at which point all dungeons are deemed available to you by the system anyways.

@Horowonnoe , at no point did I tell you not to queue until you were at higher levels. Nor did I suggest that this was in any way your choice.

In fact, that was the entire point of my post explaining WHY you are getting so many DLC dungeons. Lower level players who own the DLC/ESO+ have no choice about ending up randomly queued for DLC dungeons because of the way that ZOS set up the groupfinder level gates for dungeons. This is simply the way the game works right now and I've read plenty of complaint threads about it. At level 10, the 6 DLC dungeons are a high percentage of the total dungeons you can queue for although the percentage gets better as you level.

I've done four random normal dungeons today trying to level harness magicka. Three were WGT, pne was FG2. Its not the pledge either
