How would you feel about a new destruction staff type/element?

It’s typically the same damn elements in every RPG that features sorcery: Fire, Lightning, and Ice. This holds true for the Destruction Staves in ESO. I’d like to see something like a “Nature” staff that uses Spriggan-type magic or a “Shadow” staff that uses that dark energy the Dremora and Xivkyn often use. Would ZOS be able to implement something like this in a competent manner?

    Magic damage staff would be nice, would pretty much make war maiden BIS for magblades in pretty much any mode, but PvP especially.

    I think that a nature or Spriggan-type staff would fit well as an alternative line for the restoration staffs. But shadow sounds nice, perhaps with some neat necromancer features (debuffs / temporary summons / turns / fears).

    Yeah I was thinking that after I posted. Nature/Spriggan would fit much better with restoration. And the Restoration Staff could certainly use different types too.

    I'd prefer to see melee magic weapons.
    Another type of range destro staff won't add much to the game apart from some new visuals. You would still have the same skills and maybe slightly different passives.

    Magic damage, it would actually make the 5pc bonus of War Maiden worthwhile for a destro build particularly NB's, because right now its really only worth slotting the 5pc on a DW bar. particulary for Magplar and to an extent NB's just so they can use their magick damage abilities and run a resto on back bar or stay with a destro on the bar and run Juliano's instead.

    Would be especially cool if they'd pair it with a future class.
    As in; introducing shadow staffs upon releasing a possible Necromancer class?

    or I once thought about two handed staves, new skill lines, all elements.

    I agree we could use a new magicka-based weapon. But no more staves and elements, we already have 3 of those, sharing the same skill line.
    New weapon could be a globe, or a wand. With a completely new skill line. I'd welcome that.

    You need to ask? ;)

    As I wrote elsewhere:
    Alternate Staves - we have fire, ice and shock as well as healing, but who here wouldn't want more? Cyan "coldfire" destruction staves (fire effect visuals in cyan, but ice effect status and damage), purple "warlock" destro staves (pure magic damage, shock effect status), green acid destro staves (fire status effects, poison damage), or red blood magic healing staves (less damage, but as lifedrain)

    Magic damage staves with different color schemes - Holy Light for templars, Red daedric Crimson for nightblades and, maybe, dark purple for sorcs and teal for wardens. Can't figure out the one for DK's. Light green poison?

    There will be no such staves anyway.

    I wouldn't really go for another element, but I would definitely go for another skill line.
    Right now we have:
    Inferno = Single Target
    Shock = AoE
    Ice = Defense

    Which pretty much covers most of the needs. So what

    Now in the lore, we have multiple schools of magic most of which are split into different classes: e.g. Illusion = Shadow skill line, Alteration = Dark Magic skill line, Conjuration = Animals and Daedric Summoning skill lines, Destruction = Ardent Flame, Storm Calling and obviously Destruction Staff, Restoration = Nature's thingy and Restoring Light.
    So since all of the schools of magic are covered by the classes its pretty hard to come up with another weapon.

    There are a few options however:

    Rather than having a new staff/element which most likely won't happen, we should have a one-handed skill line that deals magic damage and focuses on being more of close range magic combat (aka Spell Sword). Now the problem is that this would take far too much work and far too many modifications of the already existing things.

    That's the reason of my vote, it's a cool idea but I'm skeptical to say the least about everything new implemented decently, I much rather they focus on what we have and fix the lot of present problems.

    While the idea has merit, before i look to add new weapons or classes i want to get a firm grasp on what they add in addition to different animations.

    Right now the staves are split between defensive, area and targetted.

    So what would whatever new element bring to the table that is not just a rehash of what we have now or trumping something already in play?

    Start with the merits then seek the approval, not the other way around.

    However, i think they should take the plunge if they do go this route and simply split the staves into their own separate trees so that they differ much more than they do now.

    I feel like they should add Ice Staves to the game before we get more complex.
    Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

    It's not possible.
    The previous TES games all only have 3 elements.
